Getting Prescribed Nuvigil Or Provigil

Updated

Ive been working over night for a year now and I am in serious need of nuvigil or provigil. I am having trouble getting a hold of this medication. My doctor said he didnt believe in the drug so I no longer see him cuz I have a prroblem and he wouldnt help it. What type of physician should I talk to that knows about this stuff cuz mydoctor had no clue what he was talking about.

Armodafinil is used to treat excessive sleepiness caused by narcolepsy (a condition that causes excessive daytime sleepiness).

Based on the description of this medication, I can see why your doctor doesn't believe in it. The underlying cause of the narcolepsy (sleepiness) is what really matters here, and not just treating the symptoms of it.

I guess you have to ask yourself if there's really any aspects of your lifestyle that could possibly be attributing to the sleepiness during the day time?

A few that come to my mind from reading your post are:

-are you getting enough nutrients in your diet from fruits and vegetables?

-are you getting enough iron and B12? (this is a very common deficiency that causes sleepiness during the day)

-are you getting enough "natural" unrefined carbohydrates in your diet?

-are you eating too many processed foods?

-are you staying hydrated with water at all times?

-are you getting at least 30min of sunshine each day?

-would a different work schedule be beneficial to your overall health?

-are you getting a minimum of 8 hours of deep sleep when you do sleep?

Answering these questions may give you an idea of what aspects of your lifestyle could be causing the sleepiness.
I would strongly recommend seeing a registered dietician or naturopathic physician as opposed to a regular medical doctor, if you're able to. Just my two-cents.

I hope this helps!

You have a recognized sleep disorder, commonly called shift work sleep disorder. A sleep specialist (usually a pulmonologist) would treat you with Provigil or Nuvigil. You can try all kinds of lifestyle changes- they might help, and they can't hurt. But the fact is, your body is working against a clock that it's been adapted to for millennia. It needs some help. Good luck. I have narcolepsy, and know how "excessive daytime sleepiness," which hardly begins to describe it, can mess with your life in all kinds of ways. You'll feel better.

Hi, you might think about getting the generic for Armodafinil (under the brand name Waklert). There are good online sources like {edited for policy reasons} good luck.

You should try refilling your rx from an online pharmacy - {edited for policy reasons} is amazing! I've had great luck and they send exactly what you order. Many of the major pharmaceutical companies are located in India (where the drugs are coming from) and they're the brand name.
