Generic Wellburtins

Updated

I have been on Wellbutrin 300 XL for years tried to get off a few times but sympoms came back, the Pharmacy change to a generic it was a pale yellow pill and I didnt see to notice any difference then some time after they which to another manufacture I didnt think anything it is an oval white pill with 142 stamped on it well it does not work, I am not sleeping, when I do i have bad dreams I am irritable and emotional. I had them which me back to the non prescription and the symptoms went away then I went back the the white 142 generics and the symptoms are back. So I guess I will have to pay for the Non generic unless I can find the pale yellow generics some where does anyone know the mfg of the pale yellow pills. What is wrong with the FDA this is not right!

The FDA allows generics to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient by as much as plus or minus 20%, they consider this an acceptable therapeutic window.

This means that the name brand had the proper amount of the ingredient and the pale yellow tablets probably did, as well. However, the other ones you received with the 142 on it, where probably lacking.

For some people the difference has no effect, however, some people are very sensitive to any fluctuation.

As to the maker of the pal yellow tablet you had, I can't tell you that, without knowing what the imprint was on the tablet. There are several that are a pale yellow color.

Have you tried asking the pharmacy? They will have a record of all your prescriptions and this should list the manufacturer of the pills used to fill it.

I have had the exact same problems after having been switched from budeprion 300 mg XL (Teva) the pale yellow pill imprinted 682, to bupropion 300 mg (Actavis) the white pill imprinted 142. I have nightmares every night. I am emotional, tearful, irrational, you name it. There is DEFINITELY a difference between the two drugs.
