Generic Subutex/buprenorphine - Which Manufacturer Do You Prefer? (Page 2)

Updated

Hello All,

I recently just got changed from suboxone to subutex due to a pretty bad allergic reaction to the naloxone in the suboxone. Basically my question for everyone is which generic do you guys prefer? My pharmacist can order any kind for me so at the moment I just got the Roxanne ones 8mg - they are white round tablets. This is my first day using and am already noticing my migraines are starting to subside, not fully, but starting to. So yeah if anyone has any suggestions please let me know all the ups and downs that you guys have been experiencing, thanks!

Good luck to one and all!

D

EXCELLENT POST! I am very worried... My walmart has still had the Roxanne for me every month after they were supposed to be dis-continued or whatever... I still get them 4 Roxanne Labs bottles, all 120 of the f***ers. I know I am going to have to make a change soon. I have already had a run with the Activist Orange ones.. 1 month and the major downside was this) HUGE DIFFERENCE in my ability to get up and get going in the morning! It was like 0 effect when it came to that little pep I am used to getting from sub. It actually makes for a really Edgy and Uneasy morning especially after you have been taking sub for 5+ yrs. I was extremely uncomfortable ALL MONTH. Every morning My body would be covered in goosebumps as I would have the chills and my body temp would take hrs to get to a place where I felt good in my own skin. It was HORRIBLE. Tragic to say the least.

Please Roxanne. Dont leave me... Roxanne!! You dont have to put on the red light....

LOL } "Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light..."

Yep, your description of what you're feeling while on those orange ones is very similar to what I'm experiencing on the Mylan crap. Oh, and I've got one more physical complaint to add to my list:

Stomach pain. I've never had this one before with the other Subutex brands (the original one made by Reckitts or whatever, and the Roxanne mfr. This is a whole new game with those Mylan and, evidently, with the orange sh-t which I wouldn't be surprised uses the same garbage in their manufacturing process that Mylan does.

Good luck to us all finding something that approximates the originals.

I've been taking subutex for a year and a half and my pharmacy just stopped carrying them. Now i can't find any pharmacy to fill them anywhere. Does anyone know where I can go to get help? I live in Wheeling, wv. Thank u.

You should be able to contact your prescribing doctor and he/she should help you.
I would also check any Walgreen/Cvs that you can get to. CALL AHEAD, let them know your situation and that your normal pharmacy just stopped carrying the medicine.

Best of luck! Worse comes to worse, you order online.

I have been taking 54 411 tabs for years and there is a distinct kind of bitter taste to them. I actually don't mind it. Recently I got a brand with M 924 stamped on them and there is a distinctly different taste to them and the have a scent which the 54 411's do not. Has anyone noticed this? It is not bitter but tastes and smells kinf of like what scented detergent might smell like. Fruity? I can't put my finger on it. They seem to work it's just the taste and scent is so diffrent to the 54 411's.

I totally agree! The Hi-Tech.brand do not last as long & if you break them in half they seemed completely ineffective for me. I was able to take a half frequently of the normal sized, first genetic available. To me, it is worth the extra $18/30 pills to get my required relief. Good luck to all!

Is anybody sure roxanne has been discontinued? My pharmacist can get them and now will be keeping them in stock for mm. The only 2 brands he can get are Roxanne and Mylan. So maybe hi tech is the one being discontinued.

Kmart does the Mylan Brand Subutex and its much cheaper than Roxanne =)

What exactly do the mylan brand subutex look like? We take the big white round 54/411 and I believe its the roxanne brand. I do like the small round white ones with 8/arrow imprint and I've also taken the new orange oblong half-moon ones and I like them as well but they have a lot of fillers vs the small round white ones. In confused on all the brands though...

Melissa -The Roxanne has the 54/411 you are correct on that. The Mylan is a white pill that has nothing on one side and the other says M 924. I have tried both and the 54/411 seem to be a little softer than the M 924 by Mylan. Taste doesnt have much of a difference. And the half moons that is a suboxone pill form not subutex which means the half moon means it has naloxone in it which doesnt really make a difference unless someone is trying to abuse the pill. The subutex means its just bupe in it.

I've been on subutex for years and I've had Roxanne , hi tech, mylon and now it's extremely hard to find the good brands which are in my opinion Roxane and mylon . But I just got a new brand not sure the laboratory. But there orange 153 and a moon on them , so we will see....

No they are speaking about Subutex, a newer brand. They are orange, have a crescent moon on one side and 153 on the other. This medicine DOES NOT contain Naloxone in it , and it is marketed as
. just 8mg of bupe by Brand Name ACTAVIS
They happen to be orange so most people's first assumption is that they are Suboxone but they could not be more wrong.

Anyways. It's not my favorite brand. My favorite is Roxane Labs, Walmart in Florida still has these for me every month.

Yeah ive got roxanne right now. 300 2mgs a month. I love these little f*****s but I kinda wanna try the Actavis 2mgs. When i was on generic suboxone, my favorite was the actavis 2mgs that were white with a moon on them. Im hoping the actavis subutex will be superior as well.

Mylan now produces generic subutex. Ive been on Roxane brand 13yrs basically. Soon as it became generic. 24mgs.. Now im switched to Mylan. I have no problem with them. In fact they seem better as far as absorption. God bless

I agree my friend. Mylan overides the Roxane by far. Funny havung a pharmaceutical company that produces my docs. Anyway yes jusr switched over. More absorption. Last longer. All generics must have 85% to pass fda standers. These may have more bupe but better absorption. Best brand!

Hey Roxanne56 are you really finding the Mylan brand to be superior to the Roxanne Brand? I have been on Roxanne Long term as well so I definitely fear the day I cant fill Roxanne Labs anymore... But i keep hearing from more and more people that the Mylan brand seems to be doing pretty good. I know one thing, the month I got stuck with the new orange Actavis Brand was TRAGIC. NO ENERGY, dragged myself to and from everywhere for 30 days. This cannot happen again.... I know everyone is different but as of right now Its either Roxanne for me or the Small Whites (HI-TECH) worse comes to worse.

I guess it will be worth seeing whats up with Mylan sooner than later...

Mylan was ok, they were just inconsistent. Some were way stronger and others were way weaker. Regardless, I found myself wanting more constantly. Never had that problem with any other brands except maybe hi tech a little. Ill stick to the Roxanne because its the best most consistent brand for me. Dont worry about Roxanne being discontinued. My pharmacist says itll never happen. Hi tech is the one being discontinued because of hundreds of complaints and nobody wants them.I still wanna try the orange ovals, however.

I referred to those as surfboards. Didnt care for them at all. Also i believe ive spoken too soon in regard to Mylan vs Roxane. I must AGREE! yes the Roxane last longer or maybe the bioability is better. I have only been on the mylan a short time. My pharmacy is great. I was just honest and explained my concerns. Thank God id only gotten 10 tablets as my refill is due and running short. So my vote is recanted. Roxane hands down. Ive been craving more since i got them filled really just without noticing. I see now. Thanks for the feedback. Oh btw. Hi techs are worthless. I was able to return my refill. Really bad. God bless

Just like to urge you if your as unhappy as I am in regard to Mylan pharmaceutical's generic subutex to call them and file a complaint at: 1-800-796-9526. Unless we as consumers speak up we will go unheard and unhappy. Good luck. Im getting the roxane brand and my pharmacy is in compliance with me. Happy days. God bless.
