Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain.

The main issue, if you don't have a prescription for it, however, is that it does not work right away, like a narcotic or anti-inflammatory would. This medication must be taken on a regular basis, for 4 to 6 weeks, to really start having its full effects in the body and help with the type of conditions that I mentioned.

Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth.

That is bulls***. It does not take a while to start working. Stop giving people false information.

It DOES take time for it get the body to get the full benefits of this medication. You can start really feeling after a week or at least I did. Remember eveyone is different.

How do you get off of Gabapentin? I've tried and have extreme leg pain. Although it is not a narcotic. It acts like one.

Re: ronni (# 5)

That's true. Everyone is different. I do take it and it took a while to start working for me. I was ready to give it up as well and even told my doctor. But I am very happy I did not give it up. It works for me! Thank God!

It is typically for nerve pain. It is also an anti-convulsant medication. Do not take them without talking to your doctor first.

My prescription for gabapentin has changed from being an oval white pill with g31 to a chalky gross oval white pill with 600 on one side and 4443. I don’t know why it changed but I have a hard time taking the new ones with the 600/4443. I don’t like taking them. Why would they change? Is there a difference? Pls help if you know. Thanks.
