Gabapentin 300 Mg X 3 Times Day

So my partner started taking gabapentin 3x300mg 3 times a day for rheumatoid arthritis in his feet he's only 29. He recognized this drug as something his friends use to take recreationally and we all know it effects us all differently. I'm bipolar get a little bored and curious not to mention noticed a change in his mood just in general a happier person so I thought I'd start taking them too just for the effect. I soon became addicted to the feeling of not really caring almost superior, I felt I could talk my way out of any situation and just loved life. Of course there's always a time you run out and with us both taking them he soon did. With the pain of arthritis coming and going there was always plenty for me. I soon realized just how addicted I was and was the first to point out to my partner how I was feeling etc he's in denial and says I'm right just to shut me up I think but anyhow I decided to stop cold turkey no more, I wasn't going to let a drug take over my life, especially when I'm a perfectly healthy 23 year old.
That's when the problems started. Extreme night sweats, and I mean swimming in my own sweat and not even being hot, still cold just can't stop sweating, not to mention the dizziness bad enough I feel like I could fall over my own feet and of course the dreaded insomnia. Now I knew I was having trouble because I never suffer from disturbed sleep or drifting off for that matter but as soon as I stopped taking the gabapentin bye bye sleep and hello hell. The feeling of being tired just isn't there anymore my eyes won't shut and stay shut, I find myself reduced to tears every time just pleading with my brain to allow me just an hour my eyes are painful and have just started getting migraines which again I've never suffered from ever. Going to the doctors could be the answer but what do I say? I've gone and got myself addicted to my boyfriends prescribed drug because I'm stupid and naive. How embarrassing I just don't want them to feel they can't trust me in the future with prescribe tablets if there comes a time I may need them I just don't know. I've just about had enough now and I feel myself slowly drifting into a different person a shadow of who I use to be I've let it take over the last 2 years of my life I just want to get back on track. If you know any good homely remedies or advice on how to approach my doctor I'm all ears !!!
