A GI Cocktail just refers to a mixture of products that is used to clean out the gastric system and intestinal tract, before certain medical tests and procedures.

Therefore, it does not refer to any specific product or medication, so I am unable to quote you an estimated cost for it.

Have you tried asking your doctor, or pharmacy?

You have absolutely given the wrong information. A gastrointestinal cocktail, known as a GI cocktail, is a generic term for a mixture of liquid antacid, viscous lidocaine, and an anticholin ergic primarily used to treat dyspepsia.[1] The GI cocktail may also deceptively mask pain originating from the hearThere is a wide variety of GI cocktail recipes in use today. A very popular one is a mixture of Maalox, viscous lidocaine, and Donnatal, in equal parts.[3] A mixture of 10-30 ml Mylanta, 10 ml Donnatal and 10 ml viscous lidocaine is known as "The Green Goddess".[4] The efficacy of this mixture for the treatment of dyspepsia is generally considered superior to treatment with only any one of its components

What Celeste says is absolutely true as I just had one of these at the ER this past Sunday morning. This was my second attack of very severe dyspeptic pain this year, so I opted to try this cocktail first instead of the I.V. drugs that I was given in the past. This cocktail worked like a charm in 20 - 30 minutes!

It cost 30.00 for 400ml at CVS with prescrition and no insurance. If insured then it will cost just a co payment.

Yes your right. My daughter has no insurance and in bad need of gall bladder surgery. She has depended on this for her pain. I went to pick up her script for the week that usually cost $35.00. But it is now $100.00. She must now learn to suffer.

Re: Patty (# 3)

If I'm going to take this GI cocktail for the first time ever, could I finally eat something? Can it be taken with food and what am I allowed to eat? Does somebody know?
