For How Long Should Amoxicillin Be Prescribed?

I have been diagnosed with periodontitis. My dentist prescribed 500mg amoxicillin 3 times a day for 30 days. Is this normal? I've never had amoxicillin prescribed for more than 7-10 days.

Although this medication is traditionally prescribed for 7-10 days there are specific conditions that require long term antibiotic therapy. Although we are facing many conditions that have become resistant to common antibiotics, only your prescriber can make that judgement call and perhaps when it's best to change therapy to a stronger more specific type of antibiotic... please don't delay in contacting them. The quicker they can address this condition the better your result will be.
