For Proper Drug Ids, Please Read! Thank You!

Okay, first off, let me state that not every drug of the same kind is going to look the same, so asking what Vicodin or Oxycontin looks like will not get you anywhere. There are hundreds of manufacturers that make these pills when they become available for generic production and the color, size, and shape are all totally up to the whit and whim of the manufacturer. There are no proprietary guidelines saying the all have to look the same. The only requirements from the FDA state that all prescription drugs sold in the US must have unique imprints for identification purposes. Then, these imprints, within a company will vary with the dosage of the med, and whether or not it is a pill or a capsule even if it is the same mgs.

Secondly, the letter V or M on a pill DOES NOT stand for Vicodin, Valium, Morphine or Methadone!

These letters are only manufacturers logos, the V is for the company Vintage/Qualitest and the M is for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.

If go around making assumptions based on the letter on a pill, you are going to get a big suprise, and if you tell others that is what it is, based in this misinformation, you could cause them to take something that they could have a potentially deadly reaction to!!!

Now, Oxycontin is available as a generic, it has been since March of 2004!

Shapes ARE NOT proprietary either, so saying that all Vicodin are oblong is not true, neither would saying all Morphine tablets are round!

I see some of you getting upset when you don't get an answer to your pill IDs, I am very sorry, but it you do not provide complete information, I cannot tell you what it is or anything about it.

Gracious, I even had someone who thought the RX number assigned by their pharmacy would be the same all over the world and would identify the drug they were talking about. NOT That is purely a number of reference for YOUR pharmacy and means nothing to anyone else or any other pharmacy.

If you want medication information, post all you know about that med, the name and dosage and I will gladly look it up for you!

If you want a pill ID, stop assuming what it is based on the shape or letters on it and post the COMPLETE IMPRINT as well as the color and shape of the pill, or if it is a capsule, please say so!

By doing this, you will get a lot more answers. I love to research and love to help, but sometimes, I just can't when the information I need is not provided.

I've been in a lot of pain recently and a friend of mine gave me a few of her Vicodin ES pills but I'm not sure that's what they really are. It is a very large (horse pill) white oblong pill and has a slit in the middle with a G on the left side of the slit and 13 on the right side of the slit. Can you tell me if this is truely Vicodin? Not that I don't trust her but I've had them prescribed before and they didn't look like this. Thank you very much for your help and I hope I provided enough information.

You are correct, these are NOT Vicodin, nor any type of narcotic.

These tablets actually contain 800mgs of Gabapentin, a generic for Neurontin. This is an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help people with some forms of nerve pain.

However, it does not work like narcotic pain pills and having just a couple will not help your pain. For these to have a beneficial effect, you have to be on them, steadily for several weeks to a month.

Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.

small round greenish blue more green tho not scored on back it says 15 over top of mg on the front its kind of a weird symblo it looks like a flower but if u hold it so the 15mg is straight up and down it looks like the flowers sideways i have no idea where to begin ive looked everwhere and nothing i think its a narcotic but idlk hopefully u can help me out
