I'm 35, 164lbs, normally healthy but about a year ago I developed an arrythmia that comes and goes but cause major panic attacks which make the arrythmia worse. Doc started me out on a beta blocker but that didn't work. Currently taking cardizem but that's not working. The arrythmia usually happens when I lay flat on my back or if I'm bending down on all fours like when I look for my shoes under the bed. Doc just prescribed flecainide and I've read all I can about it and I'm so scared. I have 4 grandchildren to live for and I'm not ready to go yet. Has anybody ever taken flecainide and cardizem together? Doc says ablation is the next step if this doesn't work. I was supposed to start it 2 weeks ago but I'm too afraid. Please help me. ## Hello, Nicki! ...

With it ## Yes, stopping such medications abruptly may cause rebound effects, which could include nausea, dizziness, chills, elevated heart rate and elevated blood pressure. Are you on any other medications? It likely would have been best to taper off of them.

What are my risks in stopping the flecainide cold-turkey? This dr tells me it's not used for bigemini, which can disappear on it's own. I'm concerned about the feeling of my heart dropping in my chest, and butterflies fluttering in chest at other times, plus panic attacks returning. All of the above stopped once I was put on flecainide. ## Hello, Norma! How are you? You are right to be concerned, suddenly stopping it could cause rebound effects, such as an elevated and irregular heart beat. Usually, you need to slowly taper these medications. I would suggest double checking the information on stopping it, just to be cautious. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, I am going in for a PVC Ablation in 2 and half weeks and the dr office told me to stop my meds - flecain...

I had 2 cataract surgeries last year. The second one the first part of Nov. 2014, both times the Prednisone left me weak. But I recovered quickly. The middle of Nov. I had my heart shocked to restore proper rytrhym. After that I started taking flecanide. 3 months later. I kept getting physically weaker & finally figured out it was the Flecanide causing this. I quit taking it & felt better immediatly. I am not recuperating. light excercise exhausts me. So I'm not getting stronger. Don"t know what to do. ## Hello, Ron! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about the problems you're having. Is your doctor aware that you stopped taking the Flecainide? The FDA lists it as being used to treat or prevent irregular heart beat. Its typical side effects may possibly include ...

I have recently done a flecainide challenge for arrhythmia. I am also on Micardis for blood pressure. Will Micardis affect the results? ## Hello, Paulo! How are you? It might, since the Micardis can affect your heart rate and blood pressure, which were likely both being monitored. Was your doctor aware that you were taking it? Typical side effects to Flecainide may include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding.

I've been having pain in toes on both feet. Wondering if this could be due to flecainide. Pain and tingling about a month after usage. ## Hello, Squirrel! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you're in pain. It has been known to cause some joint and muscle pain or cramping in some people that take it, though it isn't common. Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain. If you've been on it for over a month, then it is most likely that this side effect is going to continue, if it is caused by the medication, so you may need to try a different drug to treat your condition. But, you should have this checked out, because there is a chance that this symptom is unrelated. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Have had extensive blood tes...

About a year ago my dr prescribed flecainide 100mg twice daily started taking it at home no warnings of problems I was diagnosed with palpitations. It was working nearly perfect. Now a year later and fifty pounds lighter (done on purpose)I'm struggling with near constant fluttering ,skips, occasional pain and numbness. Everything I read says this drug is for serious problems. Went to the ER recently was asked why I was on it. I'm now really worried. I feel awful half the time. Should I worry? ## Hello, Sus! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. Have you stopped taking it? Have you consulted your cardiologist? Unless your cardio feels there is something to be concerned about, you're probably worrying needlessly. Many people take this medic...

I am taking Flecainide 50mg twice a day and need to take travel sickness tablets, normally take Stugeron but am wondering if they are safe together or if there is anything else that I could take for travel sickness that would be better with Flecainide. ## Hello, Lynn! How are you? I didn't find any interactions listed between these two medications, but you should always double check such information to be sure. Are you on any other medications, or do you just take the Flecainide regularly? ## Thanks for your reply. I Take Flecainide, aspirin and omeperozole. I was on Bisoprolol, until it slowed my heart too much, was then changed to Flecainide. I don't feel as well on Flecainide but that's another issue!

I have been taking 'Flecainide 100mg' Twice a day since 1988. Its to stop a eregular heart beat. It has worked great till my last 2 perscriptions. There is no smell to the pills that i have noticed till the last two perscriptions. The last two smell soured like bad milk. The symptoms that they are supposed to take care of are back. I think the pills are bad. Not doing there job. I told the pharacy guy. But, he has never smelled them as much as i. And, Told me to contact you. I get 120 at a time. I put a weeks worth in a extra bottle. so i dont open the main bottle everyday. What should i do? ## Hi Donald - So you're saying that your own pharmacist has been unable or unwilling to take back and refill your prescription?? That sucks especially if this current batch is not contr...

A year ago I had a catheter ablation . Been on Flecanide for 20 years after the op they cut my dosage to 50 mg twice a day . I recently had a weekly heart monitor fitted and the result being a 7 second occurrence which has made the doctor tell me to stop the flecanide right away as it could cause sudden cardiac death and to dial 999 when my heart goes out of sync again Is it me or does this all seem very contradictory ## Hello, Paul! How are you doing? Your doctor didn't replace it with a different medication? Yes, that seems very contradictory and odd. Is there any way you can see someone else to get a second opinion? ## Hi since I've stopped the flecanide I have been blue lighted to hospital twice with episodes of AF . Whilst in hosp I was informed that at 58 I am to old to be...

I started taking flecainide, 100 mg twice a day, 10 years ago for a-fib & never had a problem with it. In recent years I had more than my share of breakthrough a-fib episodes which my cardiologist told me was not unusual. After having 3 major episodes in July which necessitated ER visits, & being tried on 3 other heart medications which caused severe side effects, I was sent to an electrophysiologist who suggested an ablation but in the meantime increased my flecainide dose to 150 mg twice a day. No long after starting this dose, I developed Parkinson-like symptoms in my hands. He then brought my dose back down to 100 mg twice a day while I waited for the ablation to take place. During this time (2 weeks) I continued to have tremors in my hands but they were very mild. After my ...

Flecainide Acetate 100mg tab White Round 54070 scored on one side. AKA Tambocor May cause dizziness. May impair ability to use machines, use care until familiar with effects. Take or use exactly as directed. Do not skip doses or discontinue. ## I think the warning about skipping doses or discontinuing is the most important part of what you've posted. Many people aren't aware that many medications in these classes can cause dangerous rebound effects, if you miss doses or stop taking it abruptly. This could cause cardiac problems, such as worsened chest pain, elevated heart rate, palpitations, elevated blood pressure and etc. In some cases, these issues could be fatal. I take Flecainide for Atrial Fib and was also taking Cymbalta. My doctor want to wean me off of Cymbalta and put me on Viibryd immediately. Does anyone know how compatable these two meds are??? ## Hi Debbie, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Viibryd and Flecainide. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. In conclusion, these two medications are regarded as being safe to take together and shouldn't present any problems outside of the normal side effects associated with each medication. I hope this helps to answer your question! :)

What is in these pills? How often should I take them? French or Dutch instructions will not do. I already have them and don't read either language. ## This medication contains the active ingredient Flecainide, which is an antiarrhythmic agent that's used to treat conditions such as atrial fibrillation. Learn more Flecainide information here. Has your doctor instructed you take this medication? The dosage can vary, from person to person, depending on the condition being treated and the severity of it, so I don't have a hard and fast answer for that. Normally your doctor would provide you with instructions.

I am 72 years old. I am about to start Flecainide. I have to stay in the hospital for 2-3 nights so that I can be monitored. I have an irregular heart rythm. I am being started on a full dose. I am really scared. I have read about possible side effects. I wish I could be started on a low dose but I am told that by strarting on the full dose I will be monitored to see how I am tolerating it, how effective it is in controlling the arrhythmia and what type of side effects I get from it if any. That way, if there is a reason to lower the dosage they can do it and not have to worry about monitoring me because they already know how I tolerate the full dose and lowering it would not cause me any problems. I am so frightened that I could be sensitive to this medication and a full dose may be to...
