How long after taking flagyl does your tongue stay white?I took 1000 miligrams for 7 days Monday was my last day and I still have a white tong ## Hi shawna, According to the link below, symptoms of "furry tongue, mouth or tongue irritation" can be a common side effect of Flagyl: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000888/ I do not however know the length of time that your tongue stays that way. I can only assume that it will eventually subside soon after you stop taking what's causing it. Have you discussed this concern with your doctor yet?

I have been given flagyl and vagaisil...but i started taking them this will be my 3rd day but i am getting abdominal pain and cramps really bad. I feel tjem in my ovaries to is that normal. ## It is most likely from the Flagyl, which contains the active ingredient Metronidazole, it can cause abdominal cramping as a side effect. I took flagyl for 4 days after a bad reaction (stomach pain, mucus in bowel movements) to Ceftin. I was supposed to take the flagyl for 7 days but couldn't tolerate the nausea, etc. It has been a week since I stopped the Flagyl and my symptoms from the Ceftin are returning. Is there anything over the counter I can take to remedy this? I am almost twenty years old. I just had a d&c and was prescribed this for a vaginal bacteria infection. I have had severe stomach and back pain that feels like I'm being stabbed. I figured that it was due to the fact that I had my operation three days ago and had an IUD put in. Is it from the drug? I have a panic disorder and am terrified of taking pills. FLAGYL is written on the pill, and the color is yellow, shape round. My mom is 85 and is in hospitpal with broncites and very bad diareah she has been put onto flagyl which is making her very sick with vomiting tiredness and tummy cramps - is this ok for an 85 year old woman ## Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of metronidazole (flagyl). Course for colitis (lower bowel infection) is 10 days long. As long as her doctors are managing her fluid and electrolyte status she should be OK. You could ask for some antiemetic (antisickness) medication to be prescribed if she is very nauseous.

How long would I have to take Flagyl before this would happen. thanks, ## Well, it is not listed in the regular public monograph for this, but that is not surprising, they generally only list the first few most common side effects and I am not a doctor, not medical professional, so I cannot expound on whether it does or does not cause it. Your doctor is probably speaking from experience with other patients that have used it and medical findings.
