No, I am not aware of Oxycodone being completely removed from the market, nor can I find any information on it when I do a search, or check the FDA site.

We have had other users that have had problems finding it, but I also cannot find any listings on the FDA site about their being a shortage.

Did they provide any other details?

I live.in tampa and was just called by my pharmacy yesterday bc my monthly.dr appt is next week. The pharmacist informed me.of the same thing. Their distributor is out or met their allotment.for oxys for the year. She is trying to find different distributor but being told by all that nothing will be available even to pharmacies until after the first of the year. It is very dangerous to just stop taking this medicine you would thonk they would have some solution as many people.that take this medicine. If anyone knows any place in rampa.to fill let me know. Mr.dr.is very well known and.respected legit dr hopefully he will havce a solution when I go nect week.

So what happened? I went to my doctor on the 16th and for 3 days I went to about 50 different pharmacies. (no exageration) never found them but I keep hearing that so and so got them filled in tampa and this person got them filled in Plant City. But I can't imagine where cause I have been to just about everywhere. This Christmas has been horrible. I had to buy enough off the street to make it through. And I am in so much pain. luckily i also get methadone. so I am not withdrawing just hurting real bad. I really feel for those people that are in true pain and only not only are in pain but also withdrawing. Hopefully at the first of the year this will be over with.

My Dr Fills me the same medicine every month. My Pain Dr is in Tampa use to live over there and never changed Dr's because that can be a problem in and of itself. I'm disabled, I live in Flagler county now they are telling me it's a state law that you have to have your prescriptions filled in the county they got prescribed

Methadone kills more people than oxycodone and morphine combined. Also, the addiction to methadone and the withdrawal are 10 times worse than coming off of oxycontin or oxycodone. Do yourself a favor, and flush your methadone down the toilet! I have two friends that will literally take your life to take your methadone. It is FAR worse than any oxy out there. People that think they are being cured by methadone are only fooling themselves and falling further and further into addiction. Additionally, methadone is a long acting schedule 2 opiate pain killer not something to take you off of opiates.

I believe if one person dies it's to many, yes one person with a real illness dies from withdrawls the DEA which some how been given the power to stop me who has a bone disease and 2 operations and a 3rd on the way and has taken my rights,I havent given them away ,they have taken my rights, I dont go to a pill mill,or a loser doctor who doesnt know what he's doing, but the DEA IN THE LONG RUN WILL LET CANCER PATIENTS DIE IN PAIN. Will let other pain stricken people, withdrawl, Why ? Lets think. Everybody knows the government is getting paid for letting Ilegal drugs enter country. Boy that must have hurt when Doctors started taking there junkies with pill mills. So short term lets kill off the really sick people, get the junkies back to buying who knows what, in England they give people Herion ,Pharmcical grade ,by a Doctor .Crime went down, work went up,drug over doses almost gone.So why is the DEA stopping real Doctors from writing scripts {real Dr's key word, speaclist, internalist, incolxgist} well write them but there not going to get filled corrupt GOVERNMENT. there losing to much money. May the Lord give them what they are dealing out Pain.

Kaywood Says:

I just wanted to say I totally gree with your statements. The government has found a way to control all the chronic pain patients and make their lives useless. As soon as I found out how hard it is to get oxy codone I stopped getting the prescription. I switch to morphine which makes me sleepy all the time and adds to my narcolepsy problem, and also gives me very little pain relief three pinched nerves and spinal stenosis I now spend most of my time in bed at age 57. I decide to get a script for Oxycodone again and try to fill it in Lake County Florida. So far I just went to CVS and they said I will not be able to find it anywhe.re. I went home in tears. Here I have a script in my hands that will give me the ability to walk and some quality of life and I can't even get it filled. Chronic pain patients who take their meds exactly as told, do not sell them, do not give them away, do not abuse them, are being punished for no reason ....all because of stinking drug addicts who abuse the drugs for fun and the greed in America. I dont know if I will start my search Monday to fill my RX or not. I will have to spend lots of money in gas and use my very old car that could break down any day now. This whole situation has made me realize that there are a lot of evil people in the government and in the DEA more evil and sociopathic than I ever imagined. Take care

Anton Says:

Kaywood, I agree with most of this but don't blame the "stinking drug addicts", it is a supply and demand market. Those pill mills, legal and illegal were cashing in on the flow of patients just as much as the "drug addicts" were cashing in on doctors who did not check the patients conditions to see if they really need those meds. I have been taking pain meds for nearly 35 years, from Florida to now in Tennessee. Those greedy pill mill doctors would hand them out and get people addicted so they would come back every month or people would start up a small business to get the drugs and take them back up north and make $10,000 every month...I don't like people who abuse pain meds either but it's not their fault, it's the lazy, greedy doctors.

Andy Says:

I wrote about my problem Jan. 8 2014 and after 2 days of driving all over Long Island I found a pharmacy I had been to several years ago that carried them. I was so relieved and by that time in so much pain I was crying when I walked into this mom & pop-believe this? The pharmacist remembered me from 2009! I don't know if I would have been able to have it filled but I still had cast on leg and limping. My other pain problem was chronic back so when I smashed all the bones in my left leg perhaps he believed I truly have pain problems. As I said in my previous query I still don't know any other places in all of Long Island, N.Y. and if I receive same scrip from my M.D. I have no idea if this pharmacy will fill again. I have been told by many pharmacies they can order x per month-one CVS said they had been trying their usual manufacturer and had not received an order or reply in 3 mon. Well if you have advertisements that claim "we care" how about trying different manufacturers. I was so pissy and in such agony I walked around with a notebook and asked every pharmacy why they could not fill my prescription and various other technical questions and while they seemed curious why I was writing all their answers down-forcing myself to smile sweetly and thank them for all their help not one asked why I was writing this all down. I was prepared to state that my law firm was initiating a legal suit on behalf of persons with severe pain who were either unable to receive necessary medication or whom had been falsely told the medication was unavailable. While that ruse didn't get my prescription filled it does sound like something everyone suffering in our country should get together and find a legal firm willing to take on the i****s depriving us. Perhaps an attorney with chronic pain? I can't afford the gas either-the pills cost enough and I am on disability trying to pay my regular bills and now hospital/Dr. bills Meantime I'm trying to think ahead and the person who wrote about a petition and website-thanks-I'll be signing that one. I am doing nothing wrong so if NSA is reading our e-mails-well-have a party! (And I hope you never have to walk in our shoes.) Thanks

Yay Andy.............You are so right on in my opinion. There really should be a way that all of us who truly and rightly need pain medication to live somewhat of a normal life can get some kind of action going to get somebody's attention. Personally, I wouldn't even know where to begin but I would support, work for and follow up with anyone who was able to get some type of web sight or whatever so that real sufferers could be heard. This is America "land of the free" "freedom of speech". Keep up with your posts if you are able to come up with an idea. At this point, for some, any little thing could not hurt..........Thanks again for a great write up.

Andy Says:

Hi-this is Andy. What a nightmare this has become-my Dr. is getting paranoid about all this and I'm in agony (no, that is not an exaggeration) and my son-in-law needed help with my 2 little grandchildren and I was afraid to go to Fl. to help becaause even if my Dr. would have written prescriptions so I could fill them in Fl. I was pretty sure I couldn't. If anyone knows whether this is new law; new policy or whateverr-I do know one thing-elected(not appointed) politicians are desperate for votes. If we could think of ONE politician involved in this or the head of the DEA and all of us called or wrote the official -something might change-it would have to be one politico because several letters to each state's reps. or Senators won't help-we need to find one elected official and barrage with complaints. Anyone know who/what exactly is responsible? Let me know-I'll get it started. Thanks

Andy Says:

This is Andy-It all started with the DEA-they began raiding drug manufacturers and Cardinal in Lakeland, Fl.-claim they found discrepancies and shut them down for 2 years. Then decided to branch out-went after several Walgreens and CVS' and checked their record keeping;etc. Can't write much more now. So there is paranoia throughout the industry-congress and the White House officials are doing nothing-thinking this is "all good" We that are truly in pain are considered "collateral damage". This is only going to get worse-so if you manage to fill your prescription-please don't breathe a sigh of relief because you might not next month or the month after. I will find out more and try to get everybody who votes to voice their legitimate concerns to particular politicians. I'll write again when I have more time to find who best to contact with so many "concerns" they won't have time to do any other legislating-(touch of sarcasm).

Don't give up public is very nice and will tell you when they get their orders also keep in mind that 24 hour Walgreens and CVs are allotted to give a certain amount of C2 s but they are alotted a little more because. It is 24 hours. You also want to fill the scrip in the same county in which you live . Good luck do not give up

Here's one for the books. Since I can't get my scripts filled anywhere except for mail order which is a horror and they won't fill as prescribed so you have to have the doctor rewrite it to conform to their guidelines and wait weeks to receive them. That's not why I'm writing this and I hope I don't get in trouble for it. A friend of a friend has oxycodone 30mg. This person gets it from a drugstore which told me they don't have them. This person doesn't need them and is making a fortune. This is what the DEA has done to those of us who have a true medical need for Oxycodone. It hasn't stopped the criminals from getting them, they have made it better for them. FYI, I get mine filled from Optumrx. Good luck.
