WOAH! There cowboy, first of all keep in mind that opium was used and legal for 4000 years before so eone thought is was addictive. Why? Because white women shakcjed up with chinamen and negro men. Why did it take that long for addiction to be realized? Because as legit medical communities started using it and big pharma started playing with it to stretch their profit, all kinds of crap was added to it. The withdrawal really comes from the ether alcohol used to process it to whichever drug, much like alcohol DT's. Take your cannibas and poppies and use for health and recreation like God intended and yeah, some substances have no cap limit on dosage. People have been CURED, let me repeat that i. Case you ddnt hear me CURED from multiple personality disorder, cancer, seizures and more from high doses of opiates so dont give legit patients a hard time about something you know nothing about.

To the 'legitimate pharmacy personnel' who posted about having surgery to 'fix the problem', and all persons who think the state is only filled with drug-seekers - you need to take a breath and back down a bit. This advice is going to come from a past-pharmacy technician. Who is also a Georgia native, a Georgia resident, and who has their medication filled in Georgia by one doctor at the same pharmacy every-single-month. A Georgian who is also - extremely intelligent, well versed, and abundantly read on what medications I put inside my body, as well as, new laws such as - GA House Bill 178 - which was in its final amendment and implemented as of July 2013. ( I do recommend all legitimate patients AND you do this, read the laws). You need to take a breath and back down, immediately. Why do I read so many things about prescription drugs and laws that govern them? Because, not only do I know it is to address the pill-mill problem which has moved from the state of Florida; but, because I myself am a patient. I want to know what every-single-medication does to my body. And, why? Because it is the intelligent thing to do to keep me informed and - because I absolutely hate putting these substances into my body - and, hate reading such irrational, erroneous garbage such as your statement all the while having to deal with chronic pain and horrid pill-mill debacles. Take a breath, read, and realize there are actual persons behind some legitimate conditions. You are not helping people like me, you hurt us. You hurt us with your stupidity, lack of understanding; and, obviously - being in the wrong field by holding a career of customer service. All the while, showing how utterly absurd it reads to have someone/pharmacist/tech post four letter words in a response. Who is going to take you seriously and professionally? So, let me inform you as a legitimate patient, who - has five back surgeries - which has resulted in permanent neuropathy - which has resulted in permanent muscle damage - permanent muscle weakness - sores on my legs which never heal - and, lastly, being in pain 24/7 even WITH therapy and medications. IF you think for one moment spinal surgeries just magically get rid of all your pain, you are sadly mistaken. You are living in a dream-world. You obviously have zero personal experience. Thus, when you are handing out 'advice' to people telling them - urging them - to 'fix the problem' with surgery - you are a danger. You are not a doctor. And, clearly not a patient. You are a pharmacist, sadly. And, I do mean sadly, because, when a legitimate person as myself has to get their medications filled - and, believe it or not, there are people such as myself who would rather not live their lives in 'four-hour-increments,' who would rather not have to even see another pharmacist as yourself, who would rather not be told their conditions are permanent and will only get worse - sadly, we have to deal with you as well. As if we do not already have enough to deal with already in our day to day lives. We have to be thrown in the same 'stew' as drug seekers. Therefore, you live your work-life with blinders on totally unaware of the damage you cause by encouraging surgery. Unaware of how much you make a legitimate patient feel like a criminal. Unaware as the lucky-one to pass a healthy judgement. And, very unaware you are adding fuel to a disabled-persons emotional state of unrest. And, so, when I walk into a pharmacy like yours - I am treated like a pariah, an outcast. Who do you think you are? What gives you that right? IT is people like you my friend who are just as bad or worse as the ones who are drug seekers making my life more unbearable with these new crack-downs. Crack-downs on medications which deaden my pain enough to do simple tasks such as going to the market. You need to reflect on the career path you have chosen. If you want to speak harshly against persons who are using these medications to get a high - you are going about it entirely wrong. You do not help someone like me at all. Would you go into a Parkinson's Syndrome or ADHD forum and tell all of them they were taking medication just to get high? No. When one deals with chronic pain, it is easy for others to pass judgement. They do not see any outward problems less my scars. My pain does not show up as a color for all to see. If I were to dare to meet someone with your thinking, your reckless manner, I would lift my shirt to point out the scars I bear. How dare you. You should be ashamed.

Please don't ruin it for us in TN. Why the long distance driving to a pain doc? How many do you have to sell to cover the cost of gas? Please stay in your home state so that folks who really need doctors can get prescriptions in their own town and fill them at their local pharmacy.

Does anyone realize the DEA specifically states pharmacists have a corresponding responsibility to ensure all controlled substance prescriptions have been written for a legitimate medical purpose. Stop blaming the pharmacists and techs. Pharmacists only get paid when they fill prescriptions. Don't you think they would fill it if there were no repercussions. They aren't playing doctor or God.

My question is where did all these pain patients come from? 25 years ago, before oxycodone 15 and 30mg was invented, this wasn't a problem. Were people just laying in the floor screaming and crying waiting for God to send oxycodone to the world. Nope. Doctors have created addicts and now we are stuck with them. PharmaPurdue lied to doctors in the mid 90s and told the doctors OxyContin wasn't addictive. Doctors over prescribed the drug and started all this crap. The FDA fined PharmaPurdue a couple hundred million but they still made billions. I blame doctors and PharmaPurdue.

Here's a thought. If you are in real pain and have a local doctor, have your local doctor recommend his/her local pharmacist. The dr can call the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist. They can see to it that you are taken care of. If your doctor is more than about 30 miles from the pharmacy, you can forget it. Pharmacists are too scared to fill for doctors outside their geographical area.

Oxycodone can't work forever...it was not made for chronic pain. It is HIGHLY addictive. What are you going to do when the 3 or 4 you're prescribed a day don't work anymore? Start taking 5 or 6? Then 7 or 8?...come on people, use common sense. There is a reason the DEA and governmental agencies are cracking down on this. It is not being prescribed the right way.

NEWS FLASH: Oxycodone 30mg and oxycodone 15mg are BOTH breakthrough medications in the way they breakdown and release into your body. Just because one is 30mg and one is 15mg doesn't mean one will outlast the other. Any doctor that tells you otherwise has no business in pain management.

So, you have real pain. You should go to a REAL pain management doctor, not a drug dealer with a script pad. For some of you, it may not be your fault...you may have not known better...GET OUT NOW.

@inside person

PREACH! you speak the truth..I work at a legit pain clinic and the physician I work for wouldn't be CAUGHT DEAD prescribing the amount of medications people have told us they're on.

The amount of prescription medication addiction going around today is SICK and it's because of these unethical, sick doctors with no conscious at all. These "physicians" are making DRUG ADDICTS who will be on heroin before we know it.

The states differ on the laws about the pharmacist being able to actually deny a script or not. I know in Texas they have the legal right to deny any prescription if it is not life threatening to the patient to do so. Now does that make it right that they do so? Of course NOT. They are not in a position to pass judgement but, then again neither is have the people that pass judgement about really important things everyday. The reality is that unfortunately some really nasty people decided to use this drug as a recreational drug and abuse it and create hardship for people like you and me that really need this medicine and take it as directed. You notice that the guy that posted the original hateful troll post has yet to come back and defend his original post? Yeah he is a coward apparently. I let him know from a physician and patients perspective how wrong he is and he has not even replied to me yet. I have taken oxycodone for a long time and I now take oxymorphone ER and oxycodone IR for breakthrough . The Opana ER ( extended release) is better than Oxycotin ER in strength about 10 times stronger ( more effective) in relieving chronic pain syndrome like you and I have. The Oxycodone IR ( immediate release) was designed to work for no more then 4-6 hours maximum and I rarely have patients report it lasting more then 4 hours.

First I totally disagree and in fact it's not legal fir a pharmacist to deny you medication that an actual doctor prescribes you. What actual knowledge does he have ill tell you none at least not compared to a doctor! Second not all of the people on this medication can afford to get surgery! I for example am a carpenter with severe back issues from a car accident, in wich I was actually in a coma, a neck injury from the same and I have a blown out knee from a skiing accident when I was a kid! Oh I forgot to mention I have a severe hernia. Guess what moron I don't have insurance I have 2 kids and I pay for thier doctors and my own and without that medication I wouldn't be able to work so don't sit up on your little pedestal and act like you know anything about the real work who are you to judge ?? I work I pay my own cost I went to the emergency room for my hernia and they told me unless I'm in danger on strangulating my nut I'm on my own if you I'm all your wisdom will pay for the surgeries I need to be able to function I'd glady get off all of this medicine but until then don't pass judgment one day you may need these medicines and them we will see how you talk !!! Ignorance is bliss I guess that still rings true!!

I'm in KY. If you are going to GA, you aren't getting any oxycodone from my store even if we have it (which is doubtful due to shortages - yes they exist). If you have that much pain, you shouldn't be driving 6 hours to a pain clinic. We're health providers and we're not doing you a service promoting a car trip for 6 hours if you are in that much pain.
Second, we aren't giving out oxycodone information over the phone. Sorry. We value our safety.
Third, it IS OUR JOB BY LAW to determine if a prescription is appropriate before filling. We're not playing God any more than the MD is who determined you needed the med. We're on the hook just as much as the MD who prescribed it.
Finally, I DO know how to compound. I also can read the computer when it tells me there's an interaction. It takes a pharmacist to know how to interpret that. Interactions constantly occur and it takes a trained pharmacist to value the importance of those interactions.
And for those who still think pharmacists are pill counters, go check out what a clinical pharmacist does some time. Many have never counted a pill since school.

This is a number one red flag. Whether your need is legit or not, if your rx is from one state, your address in another, and you hit a pharmacy in yet another state, that screams user and abuser. No one is gonna fill it.

I am so happy you got some financial compensation but, you do seem to get the point that no one should play God in deciding who should or should not receive the medication or who is really in pain or not. I think it is people like you that keep going with all odds against them that give hope to others. Keep striving for the goodness and it will always come to you.

Its maffia sh.t. they give meds to who they want. Not to who actually needs them. Pills are everywhere on the street but legitamate pain patients have to suffer. Government needs to stop playing God because at one point in life u will need these meds. I feel sorry for folks who are suffering because government has no clue of what to do.

I cant stand know it alls!! I was hit by a semi 9 monrhs ago. I sustained 3 broken ribs, 4 disc displacements in my c spine, 3 ruptured discs in my l spine, concussion, and a fractured arm. I had previous back surgery as well as diabetes. They will not touch me for any type of surgery on my back. I've begged and pleaded for it but they want me on a pain medicated regimen only. The meds don't really help other than just keeping me from breaking through my threshold. I would give them up in a heart beat at a chance to have my life back. Some people can't just go have the surgery it's not that easy. Good thing i got a 967,000.00 settlement out of all this!!

Dude your an ass..... Don't sit here and condemn people you don't even know for taking pain meds. Do you know what it's like to have 3 herniated discs in your lumbar spine with nerve root impingement ? I do and let me tell you, it sucks ass. I work full time and make more money than you ever will. So stop talking about what you don't go through everyday . Do you know what the odds are on spinal fusion relieving someone's pain when they have to be fused at 3 levels ? Not very damn good . Also, when you have a child and the only thing that keeps you going to work and enjoying just a little bit of physical activity with that child is pills, you would be taking them too.

This is a response to the "Inside Person" and how he assumes surgeory will fix people's problems thus allowing them to live their life without narcotics. Well I say that's bull because I'm a 26 year old Iraqi Combat Disabled Veteran and I was shot twice, blown up by an IED, and had cancer so tell me from all my scars, including the 14" by 3" one going up my abdomen from my right leg that surgeory will help or I don't need pain meds. I'm take 4 30mg oxycodone and with 2 15mg oxycodone for breakthrough pain and you say I'm not entitled to having you fill my prescription because I choose to go to a pain clinic versus the Veteran Affairs who makes you jump through loops and still untreats my pain. The VA wanted to give me 5mg lortab 3 times a day for my pain which completely does nothing to help me and makes my depression completely worse. So I'm curious as to how surgeory will help me, or are you going to say "It's all in my head?" because I will tell you to go to Iraq and serve this country and get injuired saving your battle buddy and then imagine how you would feel if some prick pharmacy worker tells you "I'm not filling your prescription!"

So I spoke to my friend who is a pharmacist at cvs and has been for 10+ years and he has relayed to me why there seems to be a oxycodone drought. Per my friend he has stated that the FDA over the past year (when the drought seem to have started) has been doing a mass Audit on pharmacies across the USA because of thee high percentage of abuse with "oxycodone". This has caused 90-95% of pharmacies to tuck their tail between their legs and pharmacists have just outright stopped ordering the medication all together to prevent and protect their asses from being probed by the FDA. Now in cases there is pharmacies that still carry it but only fill the drug for what they consider low risk,cancer/terminally ill (with paper proof) and or reocurring patients they have filled for years. You may get a lot of malarky like when u call around to pharmacy after pharmacy and they come back everytime with nope we don't have it or some other lie is because they no longer will disclose that info over the phone due to liability or chance of being robbed for the drug and believe me it happens. Now let's move on to in pharmacy excuses...example: you bring your script to a pharmacy and they say no we don't have it and they give u the excuse of blaming the distributing company saying they don't have any (bulls*** I've called all of them they do and they say no orders have been placed and confirmed it is NOT on backorder) or we haven't had it in months that's because like I said before they aren't ordering it anymore or they already have the select amount of people they have decided to fill for because they ARE rationed by FDA on how much they are allowed to order per year of the drug or have stopped carrying due to fear of robbery which I know for a fact that is the case in Tennessee since that doctor in gainsboro was burned alive by drug addicts. Im sorry for the bad news to you guys and I guess until they have solid way of filtering the abusers out it will continue to be like this. Brutal punishment and a violation to constitutional rights but that's the governments way of controlling us sadly. My advice if you are trying to get an oxycodone script filled is to speak to your local pharmacist and provide him a copy of your narcotics agreement and document of your illness and let him make the decision to order and carry it for you. Oh and paying full cash price for the script (no insurance) at the pharmacy is a huge help too. Good luck guys hope this helped! <3333
