Not a political board Rebecca, but I will say that while I am neither a dem or a rep. Obama and the dems had two years 2008-2010 where they had total control of all 3 Houses and even had a rare super majority in the Senate with enough seats to block a GOP filibuster, which is super rare. Obama could have passed or repealed any legislation he wanted and failed. Pelosi and Bush messed things up but Obama and Pelosi made them worse, Obama needs to go, he failed, he is no kind of leader. His own party has since rejected his budget 99-0 and 97-0 and 414-0 in the House and Senate, not one vote from his own party since he messed up his 2 years of total control to pass or repeal anything without opposition. Bush was bad but Obama is worse because he extended many Bush era policies he claimed hurt us, bailouts, tax cuts, patriot act that he was against as a Senator but embrassed or extended as president.

Most of this thread is about oxy, but I use Ms contin er and Ms contin ir and up till this month, no problem filling. Now all of a sudden all national pharmacies said they couldn't fill because of DEA something or other, but local owned pharmacy filled without problem. Has anyone else heard of this problem. I am on disability and have insurance. Any information would be appreciated.

Chris, it will be a cold day in hell before I would even consider voting for Obama. Under his administration, pill mills popped up everywhere with those doctors writing up to 100 scripts a day for mostly oxy in one form or another. They let it get so out of hand and then mostly went after the pharmacys for filling the scrips that these demon doctors were writing! These doctors set up shop in states like florida that had few controls in place to follow these scrips. Now that floida has controls in place they have moved on the places like georgia without controls. However Florida has been hit hard! Even legitimate doctors perscriptions can not be filled because their are not enough pharmacies that can get our medications! Do some research girl! I left a page here about a month ago with a lot of information on it. It may not be under the same name as I am posting now, please look for it. Also, do you know anthing about obama care? How would you like a doctor that is not your physician to dictate what your doctor can do for you? Well that is obama care. He will have a team of 15 doctors and they will set health care precident! I pray your husband gets no sicker under obama care.

There were many of us getting more medications than we are now! I believe the plan is to let us exist but to lie in bed all day and do nothing. When we are medicated but only to a degree, that is the result! I am recieving 120 as well, down from 180. If you complain you look like a drug seeking addict .... WHAT TO DO!

You are so right DAN Williams!! I agree that they are not the Doctors and it is none of their business what all my conditions are. Disability and all of the numerous Doctors I have had to go to including the ones that Disability sent me to have determined that my conditions make me disabled and that I will suffer from horrible chronic pain for the rest of my life. I have tried everything else that is available to help my pain problems from physical therapy to epidural shots, and everything in between. Do they really think we want to be on this medication for the rest of our lives? I would just like to have my body back to the way it was before all of the terrible things that happened to me occurred. It would take me hours to tell them all of my accidents, beatings, surgeries, injuries, Doctors I've seen and all the rest and they are NOT Doctors as you said. Their job is to fill our prescriptions NOT to decide if we need the medications or not. Thanks for putting it so well and to the point!

Dear Disguisted .... you may be right about many things, but one you are very wrong about! My daughter is a pharmacist; she spent 3 years as an undergrad, then was accepted into pharmacy school where she spent either 3 o 4 more years. She then chose to do a residency progrm which took another 2 years. The pharmacists today have the title of PHD. That is a doctorate which makes her a doctor of pharmacy!

Because many of us are getting by on less medications than we were once on, I am sharing this article with the hope that you will use it wisely!

Potentiators work by inhibiting certain enzymes. Basically, by slowing or even completely stopping the metabolization of opiates, they last considerably longer. The most commonly modified enzyme (actually a spectrum of related enzymes) is CYP450, which comes from your liver. CYP450 enzymes tend to seek out and metabolize morphine into non-psychoactive metabolites. Another, less understood system your body uses to break down morphine is called CCK (Cholecystokinin). CCK inhibitors are a much more experiemental and less-understood branch of medicine, but studies have shown potential for CCKIs to work directly on opioid receptors to "freeze" or possibly even reverse opioid tolerance, though the effects can only be temporary.
Cimetidine - An OTC pill, often sold in a generic form and under the brand name Tagamet, to help "deal with" peptic ulcers. A relatively easy drug to obtain, and a broad CYP450 inhibitor, particularly effective against the CYP4503A4 enzyme. Zantac, or ranitidine, is more effective against CYP4502D6, and very little so against the 34A. CYP450 inhibitors 'clog' the enzymes that metabolize opioids and clear the body of them. Tagamet HB tablets are 200mg each, so the recommended 600mg is 3 tabs. They're available over-the-counter, and you can get a box of 50 generic 200mg cimetidine tabs at drugstores for less than ten American dollars. It has been generally observed that cimetidine alone blocks enough action from both CYP450 enzymes to be effective on its own without ranitidine, though it can't hurt to take both.
Quinine - Quinine is an ingredient in tonic water, and functions the same way as Tagamet. It inhibits enzymes as well, and whilst it doesn't inhibit as wide a range as cimetidine, it namely inhibits CYP2D6 [1] which is the main enzyme for opiates like oxycodone, heroin, hydromorphone, etc. A large glass of straight tonic water is plenty. Wards off the malaria pretty well, too. (Editor's Note: The very paper the author linked to states "We conclude that quinine as consumed in tonic water does not inhibit CYP2D6 activity in vivo. Thus, quinine should not alter the metabolism of CYP2D6 substrates taken concomitantly with tonic water." Obviously this author isn't a specialist on actually reading the sources that he/she is referencing.)
Grapefruit juice - You should be looking at 100% white grapefruit juice. It's very bitter, but Allah knows people have drunk worse things in the search to get high. White grapefruit juice contains three ingredients that clog the CYP450 set. However, it doesn't clog CYP2D6 too well. It strongly f***s with CYP3A4 nicely though, and although that's almost an 'auxiliary' enzyme for a lot of opiates, it definitely helps out. Again, it's cheap in terms of bang for buck. Go to any grocery store and buy some. It's not that difficult. An important thing to note for the grapefruit juice is the percentage of juice. A lot of companies make "White grapefruit juice" that is basically water, corn syrup, and like 10% juice. This is almost a waste of your money. You want it to say 100% juice, and also, you want to make sure it's 100% white grapefruit juice! A very common business practice for juice companies is to create 'juice cocktails'. These are beverages that are MAINLY cheap filler juices like apple and pear, with the advertised fruit only partially accounting for that '100% juice' the bottle sports so vividly. Look in the ingredients list, and make sure the only juice in there is white grapefruit, preferably from concentrate. Nutritionally, juices from concentrate are usually not as good. However, for one reason or another, grapefruit juice from concentrate can contain 25%-40% MORE naringin, bergamottin and dihydroxybergamottin; the three enzyme inhibitors present in white grapefruit.
AntihistaminesDiphenhydramine & Chlorpheniramine Maleate - Diphenhydramine is an over-the-counter anti-histamine under the brand name Benadryl that increases the analgesic and euphoric properties of opiates to some extent. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is commonly found in combination medicine's such as Tylenol Cough and Cold Nighttime and Coricidin Cough and Cold, and also as a standalone medicine under the brand name Chlor-Trimeton. Antihistamines also saves your skin by relieving that nasty itch most opiates bring. In addition, these guys also slightly inhibit subset CYP2D6. Warning: Many people don't like this because it knocks you to sleep. Take one before sleep each night a few nights before your nod day, to build up tolerance. Stronger antihistamines are available, usually by prescription only, which provide even more intensity. Atarax (hydroxyzine) and Phenergan (promethazine) are strong opioid potentiators, and often co-prescribed with opiates to patients who might otherwise complain of nausea and itching.
Muscle Relaxant - Carisoprodol (Soma) or Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) or possibly others. Soma is one of the most manufactured drugs worldwide, and consistency between tablets is genrally poor - even among tablets of the same brand. If taking the good, american-made Soma formulations (MP58, Watson, etc) then 700 mg is a good starting dose, 1050 a great dose. Increasing dosage of Soma beyond 1050mg generally has little, if any extra effect on opiate potentiation.
Acetyl L-Carnitine - Recent developments on the /opi/ board have discovered that this substance can considerably increase the bio-availability of mucus membranes to much higher levels. It has been tried so far by a wide range of users and reports have been almost always positive, except when taken orally. Acetyl L-Carnitine doesn't seem to effect the GI tract at all. For snorting, mix a very small amount of Acetyl L-Carnitine with a small amount of water. Usually recommended amount is between 1mg and 10mg, but if you don't have any way to accurately measure you can just use a small pinch of the powder. After mixing with water snort this into both nostrils and make sure that it gets back into your nose. The main mucus membranes in your nose are much farther back than the larger passage in the front of your nose, and as such your finger cannot reach them so snorting is the only option. For rectal administration the process is the same. You need a larger amount of Acetyl L-Carnitine because of the increased surface area of the mucus membrane. Mix with water and use some kind of needless syringe to administrate the liquid. More information on the specifics can be found on the rectal page. For both nasal and rectal administration, it is best to take this 15-20 minutes before your dose. It would also be best to start at a much lower dose than normal because of the large increase in bioavailability. Some users have report as much as a 2x increase in perceived strength, doubling the perceived mg dose (40mg of Oxy may feel like 80mg). This product can be found at many health food stores like GNC or even at normal stores like Walmart or your local grocery store or pharmacy. It's usually sold under the name Acetyl L-Carnitine but as long as you buy an Acetylated version of Carnitine it will work. Be wary of "L-Carnitine" without the "Acetyl" in front -- this is not the same product. The pills can come in sizes ranging from 100mg to as high as 500mg capsules, usually for under 10 USD.

swanndrigs; all oxy anything is being taken away by DEA and or politicians. DEA says they are not but we all know that's bs. Unspoken law trying to be pushed is ALL pain meds taken away by 2013.

Roro what all are you allergic to? Thanks Mickey I just felt that the poltitical propaganda was taking up alot of space and time when we sufferers just want to see what and if anyone is getting and maybe where and how. Mike I can totally relate but we cannot make a habit of employing anyones ability to deal the meds we are in such dire need of. I know its hard to search and we all want to scream and cry but we must not help the suppliers that are selling the medications for cash to the yes as I know all to well, to the dealers even though its just so much damn easier to buy them. All we're doing is making the DEA happy in proving that this isnt mediation its a drug bought illegally on the streets to make people get high. If and this is a very big if you decide to go that route you make the medicine that much more unavailable not to mention your posting is on a public forum where lets face it even the DEA reads. People I will say it again for everyone who doesnt know me yet this forum is to help one another dont think oh damn I got my medication from that place I dont want anyone else to know where it was from. Thats when you speak to our network of whom we know are really in nred of med so that the dealer cant go up to thst pharmacy and get all the rest sell it on the street for four times the amount they paid. Please we must stick together Im not even on oxy 30 right now only perc since i now am allergic to dilaudid also so all I can take so far without almost dying is oxys and would love to be able to fill them somewhere in lee county even if I had to pay a minimal cost even though i have medicaid but i cant afford i think 12 a piece last i heard in a mom pop shop here not positive. As always I pray for you all and that we all will be free from pain in this hell on earth. :) Keep your heads up and stay strong they cant beat all of us and the more we stand united the less power we give to them. Goodnight.

Patricia, That may be a lot of school and I am presently working on my Doctorate in Information Technology but that does not make her a Medical Doctor which requires much different schooling, internship in a hospital, etc. I will be a "Doctor" too when I graduate but it will be a PhD not a medical doctor so it is quite different. I hope your daughter is not the type of pharmacist that we have here in St. Lucie County. There are the occasional few that seem to really care but most of them are just concerned about their own skin and could care less about their customers and what is happening to them. Thems the facts mam and they bite! I wish it wasn't like that. The Medical Doctor is has all of my years of tests, xrays. MRIs, EMGs, nerve conduction studies, many different surgical procedure reports, different reports from doctors and miles of reports from his office as well as other things so he is well informed of my conditions and he writes my prescriptions knowing all of this information. I then take my prescriptions to the pharmacist who knows NOTHING about me or my conditions and he/she is supposed to fill it. No happening at that is Wrong! There is no way to sugar coat it. This is not happening in any other state and the drugs are still on the street available to the junkies and drug abusers. The medication has just been taken away from the people who really need it. The governor is fooling himself if he thinks he has stopped the problem in this state. Due to the centralized computer system, he realized how many oxycodones were being ordered by pharmacies and set out to lower that number. He should realize that in this state we have a lot more people that have retired and may need pain medication and people who are in pain tend to migrate to a warm place. I certainly wouldn't live in a cold state because cold weather exacerbates my pain. Therefore that is why we have a high number of pain medication prescribed in Florida,
