I would like to know WHY the FDA has not taken the Fentanyl Patch off the market? This drug is being handed out like candy. Anyone who is not terminal or under Hospice care or in a hospital invironment should not be using this drug. Why would a person be prescribed a medication that is 80 times stronger than morphine for a backache. I do not believe patients know how powerful this medication is. The warning should be labled in RED. When are you FDA going to realize This medication is killing while relieving pain! I have been on fentanyl / Duragesic since 2005 when i was not longer able to take oral opioids as my stomach lining was eroding since then the first couple years while i was continuing care under one pain management office i had little problem filling them other than then not having them in stock and i had to wait one day. Since i move to PA and then back to FL and now again back to PA i have been having non stop issues between the medicare insurance and prior authorizations some periods every month and now my pharmacist tells me that the script was written out to be taken orally .. has anyone else had issues with just about every darn excuse they can give you sometimes having to go through withdrawal for weeks on end? Can anyone please tell me if the Fentanyl Patches show up in a Drug Screen as an opiate? Please Help me. ## Yes, they most certainly will. They are a VERY, VERY strong opiate narcotic, so any screening done for opiates WILL come up positive if you are using these. ## No they do not on a standard urine test, they are a different synthetic and are delivered in small micrograms. I was given 150 mg of fentany patches I change every three days also the doctor gave me Hydromophone 8mg six three times a day. This medication was given to me over ten years ago for fibromyalgia. I have been taken a very powerful and deadly dose of narcotics and other medications for years. Now the doctors wont to take the medications away from me. I keep reading that fentanyl is 80% stronger then morphine. However, most people are talking 100 mcg fentanyl patch over 72 hours, so now I wonder what this means? How much morphine totals fentanyl in 3 days? Confusing eh, anybody know?? I am on the 100 mcg patch every 3 days and have 4 mgs hydromorphone every day for back up pain. I don’t like the hydromorphone, I believe it’s making me constipated and I have to take meds for constipation now. I've been on this for over a year. I have stage 4 rectal cancer. Hi All ~ Thanks for reading and possibly helping me out ! First a quick summery, 2 failed back surgery's, L3, L4, & L5 ~ 6 bolts and screws, except, in L5, apparently, I have a screw floating, not attached. 2 Doctors, saw the X-Ray, neither of them, seemed concerned. It's not floating, it has been in the same position for 2 years now. The last 2 1/2 months, actually, I have to see him, every 22 days another story, another day, as to why, the short leash. Anyway last 2 1/2 months, I am suffering so much more, my normal pain level, (which is when I am at my best) is a 4, I don't recall a day, that's been pain free for me. My father has recently started on these patches after a second full knee replacement and being on other pain killers for nearly 3 years now. The first 2 weeks they worked fine, lasting the 3 days gradualy turning from blue to pink then leaving a sticky residue that was quite hard to get off afterwards...the last few times, they are turning pink straightaway (within 3 hours) and falling off within 24...I'm really scared they aren't slow-release and it will cause damage in some way. First let me start off by saying, I have definitely reduced my dosage from 3 100mcg to 2 100mcg patches. I am currently wearing only one and so far so good. I am praying that I can continue to work my way back down. Unfortunately, my chronic pain may not allow that to happen sadly, doctors don't really have a clue what is going on with my knees. I believe it to be restless leg syndrome coupled with polio syndrome. Anyone know of specialists that I can see in New York . ## 1 x 100mcg patch/day is already a lot. I have a few expired patches that I found in my medicine cabinet that I guess were never used. Has any1 used a patch that is expired for around a year? I think it is kinda like any other opiates that just loose its potency after expires. Please let me know ig any1 else has tried an expired patch. ## Some medications turn to poison and can kill you if they are expired. but the most of them are just going to work less or not at all. I am now down from 12 mg Fentanyl patch to half, 6 mg. As I suffer from anxiety, I'd like to know if that can be one of the withdrawal symptoms? My Dr. has switched my from Hysingla ER 60mg/daily (taken for 2 years) to 25 mcg/Fentanyl 1/every 3 days patch for a short time while I go through a tumor extraction in the rectal cavity. having to be on serious laxitives and bowel prep for the evaluations have left me with little to no pain meds in my system and the onset of withdrawl symptoms. And I'm sure your Dr, and the local police would agree with me. A friend of mine was recently stopped by the local police. He is on dilaudid for chronic back pain, he got a DUI.
