Fentanyl Patch Defective ?

My husband is on a 12 mcg ratio-fentanyl patch every 3 days for pain management..I've noticed there is writing on the patch when I put it on him, & when I take it off, the writing is gone..I assume that's the way it's supposed to work..
The patches in the last box still had ALL the writing on them when I removed them, & he hasn't been feeling well for over a week or so..I opened a new box & it's doing the same thing- - writing still there..I plan to contact the company, but it's a holliday here, drugstore, doctor, all unavailable..Any ideas ?? Is the writing a clue that the patch is, or isn't working ??

I have never heard of a patch that used such a thing to show that it was working.

It may help if I could check it out more closely, what country are you in?

I put a patch on 2 days ago and there was dirt around the edges so I took my finger and wet and just wipe the dirt around it and it took the lettering right off but it is still working cuz the medicine is on the other side just cuz the lettering comes off don't mean the medicine is not working

To anyone that this can help . I had surgery 2014 n was on percasets for a year until surgery . Then just last year I hurt myself working felt really bad pain and had the worst time with pills they work but taking so many isn't good I was needing 8 a day having a. Fusion or two that popped out on a surgery of 3 herniated disc pinching my nerves n now a crack in the spine n a lot of nerve damage feeling massive pain in the collarbone ,shoulder, arms , neck , knee , and both feet . I am seeing my second pain management doctor n she lowered my dosage from 8 10-325 percasets to 6 but it wasn't working out . So I have been on Fentanyl 50 mcg n I take 1 percaset every 6 hours n it works great . I don't feel the need or worry about percasets anymore . The third day isn't as affective but compared to before I will manage because I will take two sometime in between 48-72 hours but then replacing the patch and only having to take 2 or 3 percaset a day . It depends on your mood or stress these doctors don't ever consider that I have 4 kids 14 years old to 6 years old n my wife works out of the country all week n before the patch I wasn't getting any sleep n now with the combination the first 48 hours I sleep good now . I'm glad to hear that you found a protocol that's effective for you let's hope that it continues to work for you. Just be cautious because fentanyl is 80 times stronger then morphine and as such normally requires increases in dose over time. Most folks fear the day they will have to be weened off this narcotic because Withdrawl from this substance is horrific to be kind. With the regulations on opiate like medications being tightened seemingly on a daily basis access to these drugs may become problematic. THE MAIN THING IS YOU ARE NOW COMFORTABLE AND YOU SHOULD TRULY ENGOY YOUR IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE. God speed....

Although I am late to seeing this post and replying, I am hoping someone will get some help from it. I have been on Fentanyl for the better part of 7 years. I have noticed that the print on the outside of the patches do wear off by the time a new one is due(72 hours). I do not know however if this is designed to indicate its tie to replace the patch or not. I'm guessing its just a coincidence but maybe not.
