Or tell of an experience someone may have had due to the abuse of the patch this way.scared to death for my son.

There are several dangers associated with abusing medications in this manner.

The first, of course, is the risk of overdosage. Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic, it is so potent that it is actually over 80 times stronger than Morphine. That means even a small amount can be too much for most people.

Overdosing can result in permanent injury to your organs, including the heart and, in some cases, it can be fatal.

The next issue is the fact that these time released patches contain substances that are meant to help control the time released nature and are not actually ever intended to be taken into the human body.

When you abuse them in this manner, you are taking these substances and putting them directly into your body. There is medical proof that this has caused blockages in some people in the lungs and blood vessels. These blockages have caused strokes and embolisms, which have been fatal to some people.

There's even an episode of Dr. G, it's television series about a medical examiner in Florida, where she was trying to figure out why a man died, suddenly, at a very young age, when he had no health problems or anything obvious that would cause it. Further testing of his lung tissue showed that he had been snorting tablets that contained binders and fillers, that are not meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally just expelled in your waste, but they had created blockages in his lungs, so his body could no longer get the Oxygen it needed. One night, he died in his sleep due to this. It was a very sad and tragic scenario.

In this case, the substances would normally never enter the human body, but would be thrown away with the used patch.

I get many people on here that try to argue and say I am just making this up to scare people, but the plain and simple fact is that I am not. It is a very dangerous possibility when you use a medication in a manner that it is was never intended to be used.

This is true of pills, patches and etc. That is why there are warnings on all patient monographs that tell you it is illegal to use it in a manner for which is was not intended.

I agree completely with your statement. Then there is the fact that those of us who need and use them properly face the risk of the drug going off the market due to this type of abuse. Taken the right way they are a lifesaver, taken the wrong way, they will kill you.

ive had rods put in my back and im currently on the patch (75mcg) and ive had the generic and the brand and there isnt powder on the patch so i dont know what you'll are referring to. there use to be a gel resivore or how ever you spell it. and the FDA realized that people were shooting up the gel so they changed it to a sticky patch that has a very thin layer of sticky gel so right now there isnt a patch that has powder so i dont know what you are referring to.
