Fentanyl Duragestic Patches Not For Acute Pain

Fentanyl Duragesic patches R not for acute pain such as after surgery. Only for chronic long-term pain. I am in constant pain from back, neck, hip and foot injury in serious car wreck 5 years ago. I use 50 mcg patches and percocet 1000 mg for pain, but it is never totally gone, just bearable.

I am not sure what the dosage is on your Percocet, or if it is even Percocet you are taking, because it does not come in a 1000mg tablet. The max for Percocet is 650mgs of Acetaminophen with 10mgs of Oxycodone.

As to the Fentanyl, if it is not controlling your pain, then you have probably built up a tolerance to that dosage and may need to talk to your doctor about making a med adjustment. It does come in up to 75mcgs in the patches.

Please tell me. Maybe you will know. I am so tired of the pain. oxycodone op's don't help. Norco barely touches it. I broke my back in the 80's and also found out that I have Fibro. When no one knew what it was. I'm begging my doctor for help and I thought that if I increased my meds it would help. He won't do it. It's okay though because I'm finding out the the op's don't work anyway. Is there anything out there that can I can use other than oxy.? I need relief along with thousands of other ones out there. Is there any one out there can recommend any other drug that can give me some quality of life? I don't like being labeled a drug seeker or an addict. I don't abuse my meds. Thanks to the ones out there that have have made it worse for us who have gone through surgeries and have chronic pain from fibromyalgia. The government is making all kinds of money from such ones like myself that wasn't educated in the manufactures out there that are giving us something close to placebos. Shame on all who are involved in this. I'm thank full that we do have resources such as this web site to see why were in pain. Wow I though I was the only one. The doctors kept telling me I was taking too much pain meds. Get this I was given 2 oxy. op's twice a day 20mg. and two norco 2x's a day for break through. My sciatic, whole back from feet to neck etc.. plus this op's are giving me worse headaches and stomachaches than I have ever had before. Please help. I don't know how to follow this discussion. Maybe some one can tell me. thank you.

No actually they go up to 100mcg. Patches and not all 100mcg. Patches have 11mlg. In em the brand name malinkrodt has that amount.brand name sandoz has 16 mlg. In em and there r different brand names but the ones with the jell has the least amount the only reason people like those ones is so they can eat the jell or smoke it and get all the medicine right away I use patches that I put in the side of my cheek the ones without jell so before u tell someone something be sure u know what u r talking about cause u could kill em

How r u taking the op'scuz they switched to them fromoc's and if u ask your doc to drop the norcos because they r mainly tylenol anyway he will up the op's but I have severe pain and I finally got methadone and percocet everyone thinks methadone is only to treat heroin addicts but it is the best pain ever

He just means he is taking 10, 10mg pills. That is 1000 mgs.

If taken regularly methadone is the best. I have riders syndrome and it is the only thing that works. It has one of the longest half lives out there which is 72 hour most are 4 to 24. I hope this helps

My husband was put on methodone for pain by the VA and 6 years later he is in a treatment center getting off it , it has ruin his life hell to get off of doctors hand it out like candy because it's cheap DON'T GET ON METHODONE IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE .

As I am writing this I am currently going through a cold turkey withdrawal. I have NEVER had an issue getting off any melds including 6 15mg Oxys a day but I quit my 100mcg Fentanyl patch cold turkey and it's the worst! I don't advise it but unfortunately I was put in a position where I didn't have a choice. Tucson has very few beds for detoxing and I could not sit there for three days and hope for a bed. It's ridiculous and a joke! I had no idea how bad this patch is. Avoid at all costs if you can. Be informed about it. And actually my pain is less than It was on the meds. But I am sick as a dog!
