Felodipine should i stop?

In January i noticed a flat red rash on the inside lower leg. After many blood tests (all negative) and seeing doctors and dermatologists i couldn't find anyone who knew what it was. My lower legs are now very swollen with fluid. I recently paid to see a new dermatologist who examined my skin from head to foot and knew immediately that the cause was Felodipine. I told my doctor this and he has reduced the dose from 5mg to 2.5mg. Since this i have had a copy letter from dermatologist to suggest stopping the medication for 6 weeks. I would like anyone's thoughts on this. I have not heard anything frim GP so feel like stopping taking this completely. ## Have you set up an appointment with your GP, or did you just send them a copy of the letter from your dermatologist? Unfortunately...

Stop taking Felodipine

I've been taking Felodipine and Indapamide for 6 months. They were prescribed by a Hypertensive Specialist for high bp. Both of these prescriptions are non refillable through pharmacy. I have no intention of returning to see this doctor. There are maybe 10 tablets of each for the next 10 days or so before they run out. Is there a way to gradually reduce these meds so they can be stopped altogether? Any information is more than welcome. ## Why are you no longer going to see that doctor? If you have high blood pressure and do not get it under control, you could be risking a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure, any of which could be fatal, according to NIH records. As someone that has experienced congestive heart failure, please allow me to state that passing out in the E...

Felodipine Cessation

I have another question pending about discontinuing Indapamide, with my doctor's permission. However, I discovered that the palpitations I was experiencing every morning started after taking Felodipine 10mg. I've taken this for many years and I'm not sure why I have this side effect now. This is the second day without taking it, and so far, I've had no palpitations. My blood pressure is normal to low normal and I check it daily. I also take Irbesartan and Atenolol along with Spironolactone for lowering blood pressure. I take Levothyroxine (88 mcg, 5 days a week-it was lowered two years ago). I've lost 50 pounds and at have least 40 more to lose. I'll be 72 in a matter of days and, with the weight loss, I feel that I need to be more cautious with the medications I...

Felodipine - effect of ambient temperature

My BP has been well controlled in the UK on 10mg daily +a diuretic. However, after coming to Florida on vacation where temps have been around 80-90+ degrees I felt terrible after playing golf despite taking a large intake of water and salts during the round. On arriving back 'home' I checked my BP which was 90/58! I found I had to reduce my Felodipine to 2.5mg and stop the diuretic because even sitting out in the sun for an hour dropped my BP. I am a retired doctor and had never seen or read about this effect though when considering Feloipines mode of action it seems logical though I agree these observations could lead to a teleological conclusion. However, I felt other users should be aware ofthem. Stopping the diuretic (indapamide) alone had no effect. ## I am very sorry about...

3 Blood Pressure Medications

5 years ago my father had a double bypass and was prescribed Felodipine, Atenolol, and Clopidogrel. He is still taking them and now has signs of low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension. He has confusion, dizzy spells, shakes, and has fallen several times now. is the 3 prescribed medications a common combination and/or can it be the cause of his recent episodes? ## Yes, prescribing several to get better control of blood pressure and to stabilize cardiac conditions is completely normal. However, our bodies do change with time, so what worked well for years may suddenly start causing problems. The Clopidogrel is used to prevent clotting, not to control blood pressure. Learn more Clopidogrel details here. So that means that if his BP is going too low, the likely cuplrits would be the...
