Feeling 'sick' From Suboxone (Page 2)

Updated

I have been on Subox for about 4 months now...I started at a very low dose. Only 6 MG a day for the first 2 days (and then after getting very sick on that amount) lowered my dose to only 2 mg total a day. The trouble is I feel really sick...horrible headaches, zero energy, body aches. It feels literally like I am being poisened slowly by the Subox. So why not stop taking it you will ask. I have tried to taper down and the WDs are as bad as coming off Oxy to me. I am now stuck between the option every day to feel like a '10' bad and have serious WDs and not take anything...or take a little Subox , not have the sweats as bad, but still feel like a '8' bad. There seems to be no good option anymore for me. Maybe my brain is truly damaged and will never feel the same without the exact meds I was on before. Oxy. Has anyone else had a bad experience getting off the Subox, even if they tapered very slowly? If so did you ever make it through? I just don't see any reward at the end of all of this.

Hey, you're on disability so my point is, was it cause you're hurt? Is you've been hurt our even had surgery in your life, Try a pain clinic and get whatever doc you want. Go to a new primary care doctor, tell him you have been buying benzos on the internet cause it's so easy, I have 4 legit places but not cheap, and I pRomise he'll give you the meds, doctors aren't cruel usually and will help your anxiety as well as keep you out of Benz o wds. As far as a pain dictor it's tricky to get in but once in, you can go to any pain doc in usa.. all they do is write narcotics. I get 90mg methadone a day, used to get dill ok es but stopped getting on my own. My first doc dea shut down but new doc was easy. They do drug panels but you know when.

Best of luck, I'd take a Norco and go back on methadone if I were that miserable, been on done 17 years, I'm. A liter but I'm ok with that. It doesn't feel like liquid handcuff when you are Rx'd and get from pharmacies.

OMG thank you I'm not the only one. I was on Methadone for 8 years and have now been on suboxone for 4 months. It is literally tearing me apart. I feel horrible on it. I'm depressed, bouts of extreme tiredness, my joints ache, I feel sick to stomach. Like someone said I feel like I'm poisoning myself. I went and got all these medical diagnostics done because I'm actually saving money and trips to clinic with Sub but I don't care anymore it's obviously just not working for me. Maybe it's the years of methadone and I just can't get use to this bs. I've tried taking more sub, less sub, etc nothing changes. I'm suppose to get back on done Wed. God I just want my life and energy back. I don't know how people say they feel good off this stuff. Yeah I'm not dope sick but I'm f***d up and it's not fun.

I took and have been taking sub, for around 31/2 years. When first started taking it i felt flushed and a small amount of sickness. This subsided and I felt much better. I started with 3 and am now down to 1 1/4. I feel like this is the only way to be free, but with taking suboxone I don't feel free. I have received a associates in electrical eng degree. But I still feel like there is a monkey on my shoulder, I feel like everything is a fraud ? Has anyone experienced this, or just some feed back?

I truly believe a small percentage of us are allergic or just have unbearable side effects. That poison feeling is so true. The only way I could get rid of it were copious amounts of methadone and I swear I could feel the poison leaving my blood. Being pushed out.

When I started I was on methadone for 16 years. I stopped at 40mg, switchrd to dilaudid for short acting meds, and finally made tyne jump.

I didn't understand how people felt relief on day 1. I stayed 24mg a day but experimented worn sll different size doses,as low as 4mg day in 3 doses. I didn't feel remotely o.k for 1st 3 months. After 8 months of non stop horrendous side effects, yours to a T plus some (i needed provigil to get out of bed, it was bad), I decided I h ad enough. I found w pain doc and got back on methadone. Best decision I ever made as fat as maintaining.

Sum maintenance is a huge s by the pharm companies. $500 a month for subs or $115 to $25 for the Methadone n both put of pocket since my old insurance wouldn't cover brand. It's sick a give Rawley. They wouldn't need drug reps as salesmen if it wasn't a racket.

I would love to see a study of how many people have intolerable side effects like us.

I know everyone loves sins but peeps lime us, you really should look into methadone. Dont let these sub junkies fool you. It's no welse worse than theres, safer, cheaper, and the euphoria goes away in a week. I say safer cause they have half a century of data, probably more. How long had sub been used for longterm treatment and not just for detox, the real way to use dubs csuse if you c as n ween b4 2 weeks, wds are far less bad compared to smack, done, or even longterm sub use

I am on 16 MG of subutex a day.... I started out and went up to 20 MG's. Then I went down to 16 Mg 2 months ago. I have been on it for 4 months now. I will tell you I know how you feel. I feel like garbage everyday. I honestly feel like I'm going through withdrawals everyday. When I take it in the mornings it kicks in after an hour. The next 2 or 3 hours I feel okay. After that the rest of the day I feel like absolute s***.I have nasal drips, Body aches ,no energy, and sometimes I feel really sick.when I'm off on the weekends all I want to do is sleep. Everytime I talk to the doctor about it all he can tell me is I need to go up. Well I was on 20 milligrams and I felt worse than what I do now.He says I can go all the way up to 32 milligrams. everytime I try to go down he tries to discourage me. What's up with that its like he wants me to be on it forever.

Hi! I am actually trying to figure out the same thing as you! And feelin almost exact same as you! Except I find when I take it I feel worse for a couple hours and then can finally sleep but still feel horrible! I'm being told by some people that it just doesn't work for some people and then other doctors are saying to keep trying and take more! But right from day one when being monitored the first time it didn't put me into precipatAted withdrawl but it definitely did not make me feel good at all!! I felt like I was having a panic attack and just completely out of it and lathargic etc. and it's now almost two week and if has gotten better but still definitely not good! I have to use to be able to get some comfort ... I got on it cause I heard it was a miracle and would make me stop using so I don't want to give up after the hell I went through now! But apparently It just might not mix with some people! Let me know if you got any better? And maybe we can compare to one another and see if we can get more Info on what to do together? I'm not ready to give up and go back to methadone and using everyday but I also can't take feelin like this anymore

55 mg of methadone will take 8 days to get out of your body. If you take a piece of paper and every 24 hrs cut the dose by half (half life). 55 mg is still way too high to switch over. Keep busy and give it a couple of weeks and take as little sub as u can. If you need more take it.

I went through 8 months of hell and decided to try methadone, nearly 20 yrs use at mostly 90mg, I just don't think mousy long term done users are candidates. I could feel the poison in my blood stream. Gut problems, swollen with pain and constant headaches. A typical depression with no energy. That means u don't feel anything, you don't care if you live or die, just indifferent and emotionless. Some people get anti depressant effects but I had the opposite.

Something about it dehydrates you.

When I said I couldn't take it anymore, I very quickly but comfortably weaned down to 2 MG 32x day, sometimes a crumb for a boost. I then after 24 hrs from last dose took a full 100 MG methadone; be wise you need tons to push 8 months out your body but it fully works, and berry's the kicker, that same poison blood entering feeling was there but I felt it being pushed out.

It must be toxic to some people. No one knows anything about it. The companies and Dea just jumped all over our and totally took advantage of false propaganda.

They are convincing people it's not as stigmatized as methadone.

Well lets see what happens if you tell your boss. No stigma my ass.

Get methadone from a pain dr, as clinics are like prisons that let you go home and they also charge 100x the value or cost of meds.

I still have those super expensive 8mg stop-signs, just couldn't stick it out longer than 8 months. Probably will flush them. After my experience I stayed on kratom with wonderful effects.

Don't fall for the propaganda. If it were so great, people wouldn't be stuck on it for 5,10,15 years.

I'm so sick, I've been taking little pieces of my suboxin. I have aweful headache and feel like I'm being poisoned. My personality has changed I'm so irritable with this. I don't know what worse the withdraw from pain meds or taking sub's!! A Dr at the er said I might have a serum sickness, but didn't tell me to stop taking it, I feel like I'm going to die. I'm so sick. Idk

Sorry for all the misspelled words. Dang phone. I hear all ya. This is such a scam. Methadone is a 100 times cheaper (ot the clinics, the pills). They both say, "oh, we'll stabilize you and then ween but what happens is most stay on both for years. As long as you never admit to addiction practices, with enough work anyone can find a dr.

I'm so against subs. The way the feds and Dea got behind it and pushed the hell out of it to sell. You really think it's to help people. It's nothing but money.

The alternatives to subs are too cheap. I won't get specific but let's say 1 month of subs isn't far away from triple digit fees while methadone is double digit, dirt cheap.

So yeah, there's more incentive than helping people, it's all about money.

And if it makes 5 even 10% of us ill at all times, I'm sure that's acceptable.

U c tons of ads for subs but when is the last time you saw an add for methadone or even just straight naloxone. Straight nalttrax is probably the only true way to kick and stay kicked.

I hate to tell all of you to believe this but being on subs or methadone does not make you clean and sober.

I know all the docs and shrinks want you to believe that but it's obviously false. Coming from someone who's been spoon fed those lies for nearly 20 years. Ive come to terms with the fact there's a high chance I'll need methadone (or equivalent) for life to function well enough. If subs didn't disagree so bad with me I'd have probably been on those still. (It's not the miracle they act like)

(I love how they say just cause u don't notice the high or tolerance, whatever the reason but that's why they tell you you're sober.

Tega4dingvit is a giant scam, I got railed on another post for saying that and I mirrored your experience. I never got precipitated wds either. I can't help but see everyone here feels this same poison in the blood feelings Is this a psychological effect manifesting into a physical feeling? I don't think you'd feel poison going through your body's blood stream but that's exactly how it feels. It's just so odd that we all have almost the exact same problem.

I'm gonna print this out so that I have proof of our issues since there are so many of us. I suggest you all print this and show your dr. Look, they think we were just saying that to try and get the "GOOD" stuff. I say pft' a**holes!

I can relate. I have a theory, a few really but honestly, who know. . Quickly let my explain my story. It's almost a mirror image of my experience.

So I was on methadone 15 years, got down to 40mg' switched to dilaudid for 2 weeks to give methadone tI me to work itself out. Switch to 8mg 3 X day suboxone. I started at the end ofor when tabs were still around, but they were slowly introducing strips as an option by my 8th month, by then I was down to 2mg a day or sometimes 2 X day depending.

My side effects were as follows:
Sore tongue all the time, dry mouth, bowels did weird stuff (super inconsistent entire 8 months), insomnia,
Atypical depression which means I lost my emotions; I didn't care if I died or not, emotionally I was dead, some symptoms similar to wds but they couldn't be wds,not 8 months later.
AND THE VERY WORST,this may have been mental but sure as hell ffel lime it. I TOO FELT LIKE I COULD FEEL IT IN MY BLOOD LIKE A POISON THROUGHOUT MY BODY

What I did, I gave up. I have injuries severe enough to bitch and moan to a pain Dr. I explained my primary care Dr put me on subs for pain, but originally its intended purpose. I explainedon't he refuses to put any more patients on full agonists no stronger than codeine and only short term, that he likes subs to treat chronic pain. This is due to the govt. hysteria going on right now.

I found 2 in a row no problems and I'm store when needed I'll be able to find another. Plenty of pain clinics out there.
My Dr put put me on methadone and dilaudid for BTW pain which I don't believe in. Of course I got them. Eventually I phased out the dilaudid completely as I find it near useless but incredible for pain. The best actually. Problem is it only lasts 3 hours and I need 24mg of ir when taking only dilaudid. cause. (Oh yeah, methadone is cheap as hell, unbelievably so but I only chose it because I had it prior,I'd keep methadone as last resort as it's hardest one to get off.) Now I have a Dr who I see once every 6 months but we see each other over a Web based Dr. Program and he mails me my Rx.
(I know, super lucky but he's always nagging me to go down on my dose but let's me decide when. I started at 90mg from the other Dr and this guy got me down to 50,probably another 10mg next month. When I get to 30 he'll leave me alone I feel. Hell,if i get off he's out easy money so I'm sure he'll let me stay or switch to something weaker. I don't feel right after 20 years of methadone without it.

Now let me explain what I think is wrong.
My first thought is we both are either very sensitive to naltraxone or allergic to it. See,it screws big time with you and make all your white blood cells go crazy which leads to all these horrible feelings from any subs or sub-like product. (It's so hard to get straight subtext but it has no naltraxone so i'd beg your dr to let you try it to see if the symptoms clear up. If not, get your ass to a 30 day methadone detox. Refuse to start at the typical 40mg or whatever it is, no more than 15 to 30mg. 40 is overkill off of 2mg, trust me.

My other thought is that I was on opiates especially dones for too long and my body and mind can't handle the change, even after 8 months.

By the way,I had to take Provigil, a newer state of the art speed of some kind but not amphetamine based. It really works when the subs just drain the lifees right from ya

So that's my story, I'll never ever take them again. It does make withdrawal a little more bearable but not much, and it took me 2 weeks to adjust to subs of any dose cause first I thouget it was-too much butto no, didn't matter how much or how little.

Getting back on methadone was the best thing I ever did about suboxone. Now I just keep it around just in case. I can't bare to throw away $500 worth of meds. It's friggin out of pocket when I was on it like 4 or 5 years back.

So I'd love to beat your thoughts and opinions on this.

Sorry if any typos, phone typing

Sorry for the mis-spells guys. I was up for days, insomnia I attribute to a rapid detox off methadone attempt. I was using my phone and failed to proof read.

It seems like every1 hete has exact same problems but everyone's Dr's also seem to either believe or not care.

P.s. sorry mods,I'll be more careful. It gets confusing for people to understand

I was taking 60mg morphine a day for 7 months. I relapsed after 5 years and got suboxone 8mg and I think I took it too early only 12 hrs after last opiate. 3rd day I feel like s***. Mild withdrawal major anxiety and slight nausea with leg cramps and so sleepy. I even tried half 4mg at first felt nothing so I waited 4 hrs took the other half. Yesterday I took 4mg and 2 hrs later 4 mg. Today I took 8mg and feel awful. I took one once b4 the 8mg and it worked fine. What am I doing wrong?

I have been on and off of suboxone for going on 3 years. At my max, I was taking 120mg-180mg of OXY a day . I have been taking Sub one in the morning and another about 6-7 hours later, then maybe a half before bed. Many times in the AM I wake up and have the urge to vomit for about 10 min... more of a dry heave with some bile. After the 10 min of purging, I feel better, even before I take my morning dose. I am not sure what the issue is... too little a dose from day before, or too much. Could it be that the amount of time between my middday dose and the AM dose that causes W/D symptoms? Please, I need some answers for my wife sees my vomiting as i am back doing oxy, when I am not.

I wish i read this 5 years ago...i would like to know the answer to that question myself, though realistically deep down, i know, or at least i highly suspect, there is no answer to this question - or at least nothing that works instantaneously...i think it's just the way the human body seems to react to certain medications... I am in an unfortunate position to be taking not just one but TWO prescribed medications that work this way...it's been over 6 years now so i am pretty well versed in the "inner-workings" & time & time again i find only one thing to help, though it's temporary, but you know, any port in a storm...more then anything i think it's just a matter of adjusting & knowing what to do in order to give yourself the best chance you can in order to be able to maximize the efficacy of any medications you are taking, once you have done the research & find what seems to help potentiate efficacy. as anybody who is now taking suboxone or subutex as a result of being in recovery from drug addiction with opiate pain killers, i am sure you all remember the first time you took whatever pill it was, and realized, as i did the first time i had a narcotic pill, you thought, wow, this is the holy grail, how did i not know of this miracle pill? why aren't these sold in bags of 500 & available in every check out lane at Acme and Shoprite? The world would be a much happier place & we would all love each other, or at the very least be able to tolerate each other, lol...but then the honeymoon phase started to wear off a bit after you had been taking your "happy pills" for a good few weeks, and you couldn't help but to notice you didn't feel quite as happy and for as long, so then came the experimental titrational phase of "well i will just take another one to bring the feeling back....so then the next day, having done your research & development, you knew to take 2 of your happy pills right from the start, instead of the one you used to take...im sure this part varies widely, but fast forward a few years later and now you take 6-15 of your not-so-happy-now pills a day & no longer find them the miracle you initially found them to be, but you are completely reliant on them just the same, to feel "normal", or "not like crap"...and then the same thing happens after you find the "miracle" of suboxone!

The only thing that bothers me about the suboxone, which i personally have been taking for 6 years and have not had a relapse with full agonist opiates since, which is definitely a huge credit to suboxone, and probably my own common sense & sanity as well, because at least with suboxone i have enough of the mindset to know, even though suboxone isn't as great as it once seemed to me, i can play out the scenario in my mind if i were to go back to regular pain killers the outcome would be a total disaster & it wouldn't take much time at all to be in full blown disaster mode. It's a shame we have to build up the tolerance we do with certain medications. i wonder why this is and would love to know if anywhere out there, there is a scientist/chemist working in a lab somewhere as i type this, working on a novel compound that will erradicate this problem. i do not at all mean this in some kind of a junkie & weak-willed way. any of us who suffer with addiction know that it is a life-long condition & the best we can hope for is to be able to find the best way to live with it & have a good life...like religion & politics there will always be strongly-conflicted opinions, and to each their own...you respect my opinion and i will do likewise. there was a reason we were looking for something to make us feel better, and we thought we found it with the pills, until it got out of hand and what was once a miracle turned into a nightmare, and then we find suboxone and are soooo totally grateful, but yes, we realized in time that we were just trading one medication for another, it literally is the truth, but in defense, i will say, as i have found myself explaining to people over the years, until you have walked in my shoes, please do not be ignorant and judgemental, saying You just traded one problem for another! I can only speak for myself and even if 100 of us are taking suboxone, we all have different stories. Now I will be judgemental here in saying, to any of the people out there who aren't taking suboxone in the way in which it is intended, then none of this stuff i have said applies to you at all, because IF you are half-assing it & still using & suboxone is only your "in between thing" and you keep in handy for desperate times or sell yours when u need the cash, then you are a f*** up & i hate people like you because u have really f***ed it up for those of us who take it the right way because personally speaking, i really get sick of the BS with the drug panels and appointments and pre auths and yadda yadda yadda, especially being on Medicaid as i am.

I am grateful that the first 5 years i was on suboxone i had a great, well paying job & was able to go to the same doctor 5 years, even though he didn't take insurance & i paid $100 every month, but my private insurance allowed me to get my suboxone for $10 a script. i never would have been able to stay on track with suboxone otherwise. not sure how other "cash only" suboxone doctors throughout the country are, but mine, even though of course yes he is a business man & i am sure i was a great patient to him, part of me felt that after a couple years he could have cut me a break since i proved myself committed, lol. It would be great to be able to have suboxone work the way it did in the beginning ALL OF THE TIME. starting with they need to bring back the original octagonal tablet. it was the best, hands down, and no other form of suboxone is as good & will never be. that is something else LOSERS ruined for us. too many kids were getting their hands on the tablets & eating them thinking they were candy? that is RIDICULOUS!!! the film sucks & is a pain in the a**, imo. inconvenient. who are these people whose kids seem to be able to get their hands on the wrong stuff so easily? i guess the same people who leave their drugs laying around for their 4 year olds to stuff into their pockets & give to their friends at daycare? we need the original tablet back and i can't believe a cause for this was ever created back in 2012-2013. with suboxone being a sublingual medication, the whole generic equivanlency theory does not work quite so well. i had an open mind when trying 2 different generic tablets & not only did they not work as well & i needed to take more to feel the same well-being, but developed a pretty awful side effect of constipation that i didn't experience with the original tablet. what a nightmare that was, as i never had problems with going to bathroom before, talk about stressful & painful as hell!

I feel your pain I tried it for 2 months at first week I felt good a little high actually after that became so sick nausea vomiting I felt like I was taking poison, I couldn't eat use the bath room felt like a zombie so I talked with my doctor and switched to methadone instantly felt better so glad I switched. Methadone has a lot of bad stigma but it has saved me I'm now a productive member of society.
