False Positive On Drug Test For Amphetamines

I am on random drug testing for probation and got a letter in the mail from my p.o saying I failed for amphetamines on the 13th of October. I was sick, and not working on the 11th or 12th. I took some OTC medication for my cold. I took some Allegra D and some Day Quil. Will this cause a false positive? How do I go about disputing this. I can't loose my job for going to jail, and certainly am not getting locked up for doing s drug I never would do, nor know where to even find it. What do I do, should I get an attorney?

Did they send the sample out to a lab for additional testing?

Doing so should determine exactly what you took and rule out any false positives.

There is Pseudoephedrine in the Allegra D and it has been known to cause such false positives and there are also ingredients in some DayQuil and other cold remedies that can do so.

I failed a drug test for a job. It said I failed for Amphetamines and the only thing in my system was Sudafed and Dayquil. I don't do drugs or drink alcohol.

I just failed the amp test on a mouth swab. Its happened so much that they knew I smoked menthol cigarettes. So I get to go get a UA tomorrow.

Note to all people going in for a mouth swab - DON'T SMOKE FOR AN HOUR BEFORE HAND! And rinse your mouth with water

Omg finally an answer that makes sense. I failed the oral swab for amphetamines and I do smoke menthol. Still waiting for the UA results but feel I can wait easier now. I remember they asked if I had had a mint that that sometimes interferes never occured to me about the menthol smokes. Thanks for your post.

Tested positive for alcohol with an urine test. Only thing I was taken was Nyquil and Dayquil. How is that possible?

I just took a ua for my p.o. and it came back positive for thc amphetamine and methamphetamines ive taken some nyquil,allergy, meds, and energy drinks would any of these cause a false positive

What if the company is refusing to send to a lab upon my request even if I offer to pay for it? {edited for privacy} The only medication i've taken is cold medicine, how should I go about this?

OK so I tested for my Po about a week ago and my ua came back positive for amphetamine that same day maybe only a couple hours after testing for my Po I was asked to drug test for a dcsf case I have and after the results of that test came back negative for any sort of drugs. I haven't taken or done any drugs in over 6months now. Why would 1 result come out positive and the 2nd one negative.

My boyfriend failed a test that was for DSS for amphetamine and methamphetamine but doesn't do drugs he's taken inhalers and energy pills so what could made him fail...his first test was just methamphetamine and now they saying both methamphetamine and amphetamine and weed

The pills will come up for a false positive for amphetamines if the have pseudo ephedrine or just ephedrine in them, wich they probably do....as for methamphetamine he would have had to of taken that drug. Lol dump his tweaker ass.

Best advice I've read is from a guy that works for gas spectro company and he said if you think you will fail...u took a vyvanse adderall etc then buy Vicks inhaler or Russian dm and pseudoephedrine pharmacy pack you show ID for ....you will test positive, but if they send it off it can't differentiate because when they look for byproducts of meds to see if your lying it will be there.

I tested positive for amphetamines at the hospital after my son's delivery and am also fighting to get my child back. This is insane! Of course cps doesn't believe me. I don't even smoke cannabis anymore.

Thank you for all my replies, it has to be a way I can prove I'm innocent, it's got to be in my medication or something the hospital gave me when having my c section and fitted 3 times, woke up in intensive care. It hurts knowing I'm telling the truth xxx

I took several sudafed over the weekend (had a horrible cold) and on Monday morning had to take a urine drug test. Is it possible that the test could come back positive for amphetamines? The only other medications I took were gabapentin and Tylenol pm.
