I had surgery on my toe yesterday. It hurt extremely bad! I took 2 tylenol 3s @ 8:30pm. Can I take 2 extra strength Tylenol's 4 hours later?

Hello, Shawntay! How are you?

No, that would be too much Acetaminophen to take in an 8 hour period, which could result in liver damage, liver failure or overdose toxicity, which may be fatal. You can't take more than 1,000mgs of it in an 8 hour period and no more than 3,000mgs in 24 hours.

The FDA classifies Tylenol 3 as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Would a Tylenol 800mg be like a Tylenol with codeine or as strong? Why would a doctor prescribe Tylenol 800mg?
