Hi, I started taking Exforge Tab 5/80 mg for three days and I feel like I have the flu! This is my first time ever taking a high blood pressure medicine, and I am a foreigner living in Taiwan. Not sure if I have confidence they gave me the right med, as I saw online that Exforge is usually given when other high blood pressure meds have not worked. I have slight fever, chills, aches, sore throat, headache. I need to travel to Nepal in a week, and don't want to feel like this. Wondering if I should hold off until I get back. Wondering if these symptoms are normal.

I am 47, weigh 70kg, am type 2 diabetic and have been taking Galvus Met 1000mg for my diabetic condition along with Bilocor 5mg & Co Exforge 5mg/160mg/12.5mg for the past 4 years. However, my blood pressure does not want to come down. My average BP is 180/90. What can be the cause? My medication? ## It is most likely that it is due to the diabetes, and not the medications. They usually go hand in hand, according to NIH reports. Do you watch your diet to make sure that you don't take in a lot of sodium and fat? Ar you on any other medications? How much exercise do you get?

My mom has sores under the plate in her mouth. The clinic has given her Ilvitrim 400g tablets. Is it safe for her to take these together with her co exforge blood pressure tablets? Also with the Ilvitrim she was told to take 2 tablets every 2 hours: that does not sound right to me? ## Hello, Mich! How is your mom doing? Yes, they can be taken together, as long as her doctor approves. But it may cause an elevation in her potassium level, so her doctor should be monitoring her regularly. And yes, that can be a normal dosage, depending on how severe the infection from sores has become. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It might be best to leave the plate out and for her to only eat soft foods for a...

I had a high blood pressure reading for about a week between 159/69 & 200/69. My doctor changed my meds from Exforge 10/320 once a day to HCTZ 25 mg 3x a week to Diltiazem 240 mg SR caps every 12 hours & Edarbi 80 mg once a day. Gradually I saw a reduction in my blood pressure i.e. between 120/59 & 130/59. However my pulse rate has dropped to fom 70's to between 50 & 55. Today my pulse dropped to 47. This is dangerously low. I left a message at my doctors office, but he has not contacted me back. I am very concerned about this extremely low pulse. Please let me know what I can do to lessen this side effect that I believe may be coming from the Diltiazem. ## Hello, Doris! How are you? When was your pulse that low, was it in a resting state, or during activity? Did you...

When was the generic form of Exforge 10-320mg tabs become available to the public ## Hello, Kim! How are you? It was just approved in 2007, so it will likely be several more years, before a generic is available. The exclusive patent rights for prescription medications usually last for about 20 years, then they can file appeals to prevent generics from being released for even longer periods of time. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination and hypotension. If it is too expensive for you, there are similar medications that are available as generics, so you may want to ask your doctor about them. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on exforge for 4 years and recently found out im expecting. Will my baby be ok and normal if i took the med. For first 6 wks? I read that u should not take exforge while pregnant. Im worried ## Hello, Bridgette! How are you? There is some evidence of possible risk to taking it, while pregnant. The best thing to do would be to inform your doctor, so they can switch you to a safer medication and check for any possible problems. Labetalol is usually the preferred one for high blood pressure during pregnancy. It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and low blood pressure. Is there anything else I can help with?

Thanx ## It's not likely, most such medications can cause blood pressure elevations and accelerated heart rate. Have you tried a complete vitamin? Also, how are your blood pressure readings? You can experience such symptoms if it's going too high, or too low.

why is exforge backordered? ## I'm sorry, I can't find any information listing it as being backordered, or stating that the manufacturer has reported a shortage. Was it your pharmacy that told you this? Have you talked to your doctor about something you can use in the meantime?

Is it safe to take enforge with supplements? ## looking to buy pp's pm's ## Did you mean Exforge, which contains Amlodipine and is usually used for high blood pressure? It really depends on the type of supplement. Some things, such as a multivitamin or other vitamins are mostly safe. However, you have to be careful using supplements containing Potassium, as some blood pressure medications can cause it to be elevated in your body and too much of it is just as dangerous as not enough. You also should not use products containing Licorice root or extract, because it can raise blood pressure. Jd, I am sorry, but I have no idea what your abbreviations are referring to. However, you should be informed that this site does not manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications. this is a...

Can I take Alteril when I currently take Exforge to control blood pressure? ## After gathering information regarding Exforge and Alteril, and coming from my own perspective, (not being an MD or physician) I think it would be based on your own tolerance to Exforge and how well you can cope with it on its own. The two active ingredients in Alteril (L-Tryptophan and Melatonin) in my opinion wouldn't converse with Exforge. L-Tryptophan is simply an amino acid in conjunction with Melatonin (a naturally occurring hormone found in humans).
