Etosys tab contains: Ethamsylate 250 mg + Tranexamic acid 250 mg.
The precise mechanism of action of Etamsylate is unknown, but it has been shown to reduce bleeding time and blood loss from wounds.
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic and antihemorrhagic drug indicated for the treatment of severe localized bleeding secondary to hyperfibrinolysis, including epistaxis, hyphema, or hypermenorrhea (menorrhagia) and hemorrhage following certain surgical procedures, such as conization of the cervix.
Tranexamic acid competitively inhibits activation of plasminogen, thereby reducing conversion of plasminogen to plasmin (fibrinolysin), an enzyme that degrades fibrin clots, fibrinogen, and other plasma proteins, including the procoagulant factors V and VIII. Tranexamic acid also directly inhibits plasmin activity, but higher doses are required than are needed to reduce plasmin formation.
As far as an alternative medication goes, I tend to think of Essential oils being a good option to help stop bleeding. A few to mention that are "antihemorrhagic" are Rose Oil, Geranium Oil, and Cinnamon Oil. Clary Sage Oil is also very effective in balancing and regulating periods; and even helps with pain in that area.
I hope this info helps to answer your question!
