Epilim And Serez Drowsiness

Updated

I am on 300 mg Epilim for Bipolar disorder and 25mg of Serez. I stopped taking Serez after sleeping for 12 hours straight and have been drowsy for 2 days. Please help and explain the reason for this.

Is this your first time taking both of these medications together?

Based on my research, (Serez) Quetiapine may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, weight changes and sedation. Many of which correspond to your description.

Something else you may want to be aware of is that other drug articles note that more than 1 in 100 people who take (Epilim) Sodium Valproate, experience "sleepiness" as a common side effect. So it seems as though both of your medications could be causing you to sleep a lot more and feel drowsy at the same time.

Unfortunately the only way to get rid of these types of side effects is to stop taking what's causing them to begin with. So it may be that you have to talk to your doctor about other available options that could possibly replace the meds you're currently using.

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Quetiapine Details and Epilim Details

I hope this info helps to answer your question!

Hey, I just read this post and I have to disagree, first off when you start the initial treatment of taking Seroquel or its generics of Dopaquel or Serez you have to condition your body and mental state that is why you feel sleepy for like almost 2 weeks. It's like a flushing of the system and readjusting your brain to accept the treatment, I started with 600mg of Seroquel at night and over the year I dropped my dosage based on my progress to treat my BiPolar. No matter how sick I felt when I took it I knew it was going to help me. I took 25mg during the day and eventually stopped taking the day time dosage and my night time dose eventually became the 25mg. The trick to this is to stick with just one drug, I stuck with Seroquel and alternated with the generics every month and now am on Serez fulltime at 25 mg dose at night.

You need to realize that the treatment will work if you put some suttle changes to your routine and once you achieve the 25mg a night mark you are on your way to a new life. The changes I made was my diet, I ate more fruits, I set a time for me to stop working and relaxing my body enough for the meds to kick in, I took the pill by 8pm every night, I got into bed and used breathing and relaxation techniques to start my drifting and before I knew it I was fast asleep. Now I am finally feeling renewed with no voices in my head, no tourettes, no paranoia, no schizo episodes and this all happened within 2 months of starting the above and sticking to one type of medication.

My sleep has become normal for me, after 3 years of being on the medication I can still now have a healthy lifestyle, I drink socially, I have my occasional spliff and I can honestly say I can take my meds and know I am going to bed sound asleep. If I feel stressed out I take a 25mg additional to help with the stress.

The only danger is that if you miss a dose at any given time you can set your past treatment back to literally day one and that is hell all over again.

The weight issue is true you pick up the weight but after a year you will see that with small changes to how you eat when you eat etc etc will give you a goal weight and you will be fine.

Also when taking Seroquel or any of its generics you get a serious case of the munchies at night. Drink loads of water and again have fruits in the fridge. It helps. And the morning after wake up is very hard at first but I realised after shocking your body to cold water, you will be fine.

Taking the drug is important! I can tell you this much I have been on it for years and I am convinced if anyone can follow the above you will be fine.

Oh and the other side effect is sometimes you feel as if you cannot breathe or your lungs are giving up this is because you smoke at night and also you have bad breathing technique, a good excuse to take up meditaion and yoga.

I would love to hear from other bipolar and schizo users of the Seroquel, Dopaquel, Serez drugs.
