UpdatedIs this medication considered to be a psychiatric drug?

Yes, the correct spelling is as you say, Elavil. Can a person under this medication (300mg) have full faculties to make good choices that would affect the rest of his or her life?
Thank you
Elavil contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, it is most commonly used as an antidepressant.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and mood changes.
Cathy, yes, people are not considered incapacitated by taking a medication like this, so they can continue life, as normal, while being treated with it.
Is there anything else I can help with?

Oh my God, it’s an old anti-depressant. Are you trying to use someone’s psychiatric medication as an excuse to take away their freedom? Yeah depressed people can manage their own lives. Sometimes if they are too depressed they cannot, but that could be someone on or not on medication
