Eliquis Causing Weight Gain And Tiredness? (Page 2)

Updated

Hi, my name is Laura and I just started taking eliquis about 2 1/2 months ago and I have gained 21 pounds which is highly unusual for me. Usually my weight remains steady. I have also been incredibly tired all day long which makes work next to impossible. As well as not having any energy to spend with my children. I am only 30, and was put on eliquis due to having a second pe and cumaden not being an efficient way to control my blood. Is it possible the eliquis is causing these problems? My Dr. Just blows them off when I talk to him. It is very frustrating.

I have been on eloquis for 6 weeks and agree with everyone about the weight gain! I have gained 12 lbs since taking eliquis and also feel bloated and tired! I have A-FIB and 3stents and was taking Pradaxa before the eloquis and did not have these problems! My diet has not changed and it consists of all healthy foods! It would be nice to know if eliquis does have these side effects??

I am going to see my doctor today about dizziness and weight gain, I am supposed to be on Eliquis 10 mg a day for the rest of my life due to second DVT. But I just do not feel right on these meds. I am going to ask to drop down to the maintenance dose and then take blood tests again. If I still cannot lose weight then I am going the natural route with blood tests. The added weight is so uncomfortable.

It is absolutely the reason. I gained 12 pounds. I had zero energy. I felt like I had MS.

Hi everyone, I just decided to do a little research tonight to check and see if Eliquis causes weight gain and high blood pressure. I am so glad I found this page. I have been on Eliquis for about 2 months and I started gaining weight after 2 weeks. I am also experiencing a lot of weight gain around my stomach area, and never having had any issues with my blood pressure in the past; always being told I had the blood pressure of a teenager, I now have a high blood pressure reading each time I see a doctor. I am 20 lbs. heavier than before I started taking this medicine and I am always tired and my muscles feel weak. I scheduled an appointment with my PCP for next week and I am coming off of this medication. I didn't feel I needed to take it, because my PCP said I have AFIB. All of my evaluations came back normal and outside of now being more over weight than ever I am doing very well. I will be looking for natural remedies towards maintaining better health. The side effects that they aren't mentioning with this medication or are not aware of are causing me more harm than good, and it is too much to deal with.

Due to recently diagnosed A-fib, I’ve been on Eliquis and Flecainide for less than a week and have gained four lbs. I’ve been eating less because I’m also nauseous, so it has to be one of these meds. Going to see my PCP and then functional dr who uses more natural treatment.

I’m new to this but I’ve gained 10 lbs in five weeks. No changes in eating habits. Feel tired many times per week. A lot of bruising.

I've been on it since June 2018, definitely can tell that I’m gaining weight.... That can not be good for no one, since gaining weight causes other problems. Help....

Been on this terrible drug Eliquis now for over 3 years! Now your G.P does NOT require you to come for renal function evaluations which I think is totally wrong. No check on a person taking such a drug therefore no notes being kept on side effects I think this is indeed bad policy. Can't say I've noticed any weight gain BUT I certainly don't sleep well say after 3 hours of going to bed, I am starving and my blood sugar is 0. I do know it's not diabetic related but I could eat a horse. One and a half hours after taking it I could eat for Britain then it settles down and repeats itself for the night dose. What I do notice is the constant yawning while taking it and that is very embarrassing. The biggest draw back on this medication is not being able to take anti-inflammatory drugs as I found out today I have spinal stenosis and really needed analgesia with an anti-inflammatory cried for hours in pain and have an appointment with a Private physio tomorrow. I have said before I think this type of forum should get together and demand that this company take on board all the side effects before it's too late.

I've been on apixaban for a couple of years and have gained about 20 lb after being stable for years. I've always been able to lose weight fairly easily if my weight was creeping up, just by being a bit more disciplined. But that approach no longer works. Very frustrating.

I started Eliquis almost 4 months ago. I have gained about 14 lbs. I am doing nothing different but my sister has been on it about a year and she has gained more than 60 lbs. My feet are swollen, not normal for me even though I am on a diuretic.
I am no longer experiencing the extreme exhaustion of the first two weeks, when I could barely get from one chair to another, thinking it was all in my heard because of the scary diagnosis of AFIB, however, I can tell that I just don't have the desire to the things I used to love.
I don't know what to do. The fear of having a stoke is worse than the fear of death, for me.

Hang in there. I have been on Eliquis since January and where as it is really frustrating and exhausting at tomes to carry around the extra weight that I cannot lose either, the other symptoms should improve. I work and I walk 7 miles or more per day and have good energy. Other than the weight and occasional reactions to food or drink, things have gotten better.

I had the same problem, weight gain, very tired, feet and legs swelling, and late for work almost daily. I just got switched to Xarelto. Praying this will be better for me. I was originally on Coumadin for PE and developed a blood clot in my thigh so was put on Eliquis. Hoping Xarelto will be a better choice for me.
