Great news! I have FINALLY found the substitute for Drixoral Cold & Allergy and wish someone had told me before I had to suffer with allergy symptoms for so long. It's a combination of one Mucinex DM tablet and one Aleve-D Sinus & Cold tablet; take one of each at the same time and within an hour you'll feel like a brand new person! Mucinex DM is an OTC expectorant and cough supressant and Aleve-D (an extended release medicine) can be found behind the counter (you have to ask for it and show ID), but I found both at Walmart. I know the name brands cost more, but do not bother buying substitutions because they simply will not work; since Drixoral has not been available, I already have tried soooooo many that didn't help at all. Good Luck and I hope this works as well f...

I was just researching Drixoral availability (I'm suffering without it like all of you!) when I discovered that Merck is on Twitter under the name @merck -- Merck bought Schering-Plough sometime in the past couple of years. The same old "we're changing manufacturing blah blah blah" notice is still up on the site from like 4 years ago. Merck is on Facebook too but I didn't investigate that. I say we round up everyone we know who is suffering without Drixoral and start pestering Merck's Twitter and/or Facebook accounts to get some answers. We've been waiting for YEARS now! ## I'm sorry for those that are suffering and miserable without it, however, at this time, whether you flood their accounts with requests or not, they aren't likely to bring the produ...

I started taking Effidac a long time ago which worked great for 24 hours. Then it was pulled off the shelves. I switched to Drixoral, which only lasts for 12 hours but did the trick. I guess it's the next one to go off the shelves. I'm not sure what else to do except suffer along with the rest. Any suggestions on other OTC medications that might help? ## I remember effidac as well. it worked wonderful within two days I was rid of any cold I had suddenly it was off the shelf I was very disappointed they don't want things to work for you, they want to make money off of you ## Effidac was GREAT! I was just telling my daughter about it. The active ingredient in it was pseudoephedrine which people figured out how to extract to make meth. Try Mucinex. Make sure you get the one beh...

I have taken Drixoral for over 20 something years on a seasonal bases. It helped me get through the first part of my allergies until i get a shot of cortizon and i would take Drixoral along with the shot and have no problems. I purchased my last box in April 08 and now to find out no one can get them anymore. Please bring them back and let us make the decision as to what the side affects are and if it is worth dealing with. It is worth it to me, I am in hell right now. ## For years I have had seasonal relief with Drixoral and now its not available any more. Whose brilliant idea is that? I see I am not alone in having to put up with the symptoms that Claritin or Zyrtec can't resolve. ## The company discontinued the product, there have been several posts about this. I am not sure why ...

Hello, I am 53 years old. I started taking prescription Antihistamine in the 3rd. grade. At first I took Teldron spansules. This was discontinued and I've been taking Drixoral ever since. I am HIGHLY allergic to DUST and have tried other pills but nothing helps like the Drixoral. I only take it as needed, but recently found I can't find it. If I don't have it I will go into an asthma attach? Anyone know where I can get Drixoral? ## I have gotten it filled in Canadian pharmacies. Shipping not that bad. Schering Plough, the maker, claims it will not be available in 2009 due to production facility move. ## What other medications have you tried to help with your allergy symptoms? There are some newer ones available that work better for some people, such as Allegra/Fexofenadine, ...

Hi. After carefully going through websites i found a very interesting story about Drixoral. It states a batch of drixoral was recalled. Can some comment on it and if yes it was recalled, is drixoral still good to consume from Canada as stated by sites in Canada? A reply will be greatly appreciated. ## From what I've heard and read on various sites, it was not recalled, but the company stopped making it. Because of the recent FDA crackdown on medications with certain ingredients, such as Peudoephedrine being sold on the regular store shelves, it had to be placed behind the pharmacy counter in the U.S. It did not require a prescription, however, with so many products available on the public shelves, most people just purchased something else. So, the manufacturer stopped making it due ...

Are any of the meds with same formula as Drixoral available anywhere? (Desihist SA, Dexaphen SA, Dexophed, Disobrom, Disophrol, Dixaphedrine, Drexophed SR, Drixomed, Drixoral, Duomine) Is the effect of Brompheniramine Maleate the same as Dexbrompheniramine Maleate? If so perhaps, Lodrane D-24 will work. Has anyone tried it yet? I'm fighting nausea, popping ears & wheezing while waiting for my pharmacy to get some. I'm so relieved to find I am not alone in only finding relief with Drixoral. Over the years, especially recently, I have tried others, but none do the job. Anyone having success with a substitute? ## I have not found a subsitute for Drixoral that works either. I was glad to know that I too was not the only person suffering from allergies that only Drixoral seemed t...

I purchase my Drixoral at Costco and have ebeen told they are no longer able to get it, because it is be reformulated, is this correct ## I usually get mine at Walmart. They cannot get it, either. No explanation. I hope they did not find something dangerous with it. ## Maybe you can try to find a small Mom n' Pop pharmacy that still compounds formulas. The active ingredients in this med are Dexbrompheniramine and Pseudoephedrine. If you go to one of those pharmacies and tell them the ingredients they might be able to formulate it for you. ## The manufacturer did the same thing about 2 years ago and there was talk they were going to reformulate it then but they did not. There isn't another drug with the same ingredients. Not sure why, but every time I can't get it, I get very...

I have been disappointed to find that Drixoral has become almost impossible to get, as the company has stopped shipping it to pharmacies. My Doctor suggested I take this once easily obtainable allergy remedy years ago,and it is the ONLY thing that has proven effective in eliminating my symptoms. I called Shering Plough, Drixoral's manufacturer and was told that there will be a temporary cease in the manufacture of this drug for one year, while it's place of manufacture is being changed. ## Adrienne, So are you saying that Drixoral is not actually discontinued, just a temporary hold on manufacturing? If that's the case then I know that there will be a lot of happy people... ## I am extremely pleased that Drixoral is not being discontinued, I also have never found any other me...

Oblong yellow tablet made by drixoral for sinus. cannot find them. ## I was unable to find that exact pill, is there any more information you can give me? Any markings on the pill you give me will help me find the right pill. ## Hey all Drixoral users I have located a good deal on 12 hour drixoral sinus tabs. The green pill. Northwest pharmacy has them now for $12.99 per box of 10. Best price I can find anywhere. I just ordered 40 and pray they continue to have a supply. Am dam tired of paying $23/$24 per box. Regards, Bob. ## Hi Bob, thanks for your post. It also looks like they offer a generic alternative to this medication with all of the same active ingredients. Actually, I didn't think there was a generic available for this! There are a lot of people looking for this medication...

Has Drixoral been discontinued? what substitute is available? ## I was prescribed drixoral in 84 for allergies. This is the second time it has been taken off the market. If anyone know where to get it please e-mail me. ## Sorry, since it now has to be sold behind the counter, due to the Pseudoephedrine, they manufacturer has decided to take it off the market. Ask your pharmacist for a substitute with the same ingredients, there are several that are still on the market. ## I would like to know where to find Drixoral cold and sinus little green pills at. I have tried many other types of meds and Drixoral is the only one that works. I used to take Trinalin after I had Very large pollups removed in nose surgery but they stopped making them. I had a stockpile of Drixoral because I live in South America and it is not (nor has it ever been) available here, but it finally ran out. I have tried many things which either do not help at all or not as well as Drixoral. However, I have recently tried Claritin-D 24 which seems to help me just as much as Drixoral did. However, there is one side-effect of this product which I cannot live with: 1 pill keeps me awake for 24 hours. Now I am going to try the Clalritin-D 12 to see if it will allow me to sleep. Hopefully it will only keep me awake for 12 hours. ## I tried the Claritin 24-hour formula without the Pseudoephedrine, but got no help watsoever. However, after using Claritin-D 12-hour for a week, I am happy to report that I have had good results. Like the 24-hour formula, it caused...

I just recently got 60 Drixoral from Canadian pharmacy.....they arrived today.....package is new.....says it's new look.....same ingredients on label though.....can't take one til in the morning cause I took a Zyrtec this morning. ## You should be aware, though, that the company is discontinuing this product. ## How long was the delivery time from Canada Drugs? They are saying 21 days or less. Can you tell me how long you waited. Thanks. ## I bought Drixoral Cold and Sinus from a Canadian Pharmacy called TruMedCanada. They supply the original Canadian brand.... the pills are round in shape and green in color... I received my package in 5 business days. Earlier, I bought Drixoral from another Canadian Pharmacy before TruMed and they sent me a box written in Turkish!!! Then the CS...

GOOD NEWS, fellow sufferers! I just spoke to the 77 Canada Pharmacy and they are once again able to ship Drixoral to the US!! Up to 60 tablets, total cost $121 (inc. shipping). They have to have your photo ID and an account set up, but it's easily done. I know there's thousands of us who would literally die without Drixoral, so this is important news. Spread the word! And by the way, I think we ought to start spreading demands for the DEA to stop blocking sale of Drixoral in America just because some stupid drug addicts figured out a way to make speed out of it. I would gladly buy it from a pharmacist and sign my name, etc., wouldn't you all? ## Hi Carolyn, Thanks for sharing this info on Drixoral. While I may not have a personal need for this medication, I'm positive yo...

Drixoral can be obtained from Canada. I've also found a generic version for less money, but wouldn't necessarily recommend it ... my shipment of the generic stuff was shipped DIRECT from TURKEY ... the only English on the package was the the sticker with the pharmacist's info and my info. ## I've ordered Drixoral through the internet and been happy. They have the generic version available but they note that it is NOT made by the same manufacturer as the Real Drixoral. ## I've bought the same Disophrol pills from Northwest and they are made by the same manufacturer - Schering-Plough. ## I have read your message about buying a drug from Turkey, it has been two years but I would be very happy if you could give me the name of the pharmacy that has sent you the drug.Thank...

I bought "drixoral" from Canada and it came in a box of 10 pills made by Schering-Plough with the name Disophrol Repetabs on it. I bought them for my husband and he says they work great. ## Did you order them from a pharmacy online or go right to Canada ## Hi Max, Based on my research, Schering-Plough Corporation was actually merged with Merck quite some time ago; I think back in 2009 as one article states. So I don't know if that could've been an older batch of Drixoral (Disophrol Repetabs) your husband received from Canada (prior to the Schering-Plough Merck merger), but none-the-less, it's good to hear that he's is doing well on it. How long has he been taking them for?

I spoke with a pharmacist at Walgreen's. He suggested a Walgreen's brand. It is called Wal*Finate-D. It is a antihistamine/nasal decongestant. I took one an hour ago and it has dried up my nose and the sneezing has stopped. It is not available on the store shelf, you have to get it at the pharmacy. I have been suffering for two years since Drixoral was taken off the shelf. Benedryl did not work nor Alka-Seltzer cold plus. But Wal*Finate-D is amazing and was only around $6.00 for 48 tablets. It does make you a little drowsy but it got the job done for me. ## Thank you for posting this, there have been many people looking for a viable substitute, since the loss of sales caused them to stop manufacturing Drixoral. Is there any chance you can post back with more information on the i...

All the pharmacy's are out and have been told that they will not recieve new shipments for 2 weeks to 2 months. Hooey. The U.S. Government stopped Shering-Plough from making it because of the meth issue. It's the only allergy medcine that works for me and they should be able to distribute in the U.S. with ID. ## Have you considered using honey to help combat allergies? Eating raw local honey can actually relieve seasonal allergies. It is said to work much like an allergy shot in that it exposes you to small amounts of allergens to help your body build immunity to the allergens. When bees pollinate to make honey, they bring back allergens from the flowers, trees, and other plants. This leaves small traces of those allergens in their honey. Just like the doctor gives you small amo...

I can't believe it! Every time I find a product that works for me it is discontinued. My allergies have eased up in later years but I have my times I NEED my Drixoral. Can someone else make a comparable product? Help ## I've been to CVS, Walgreen's, plus markets that have pharmacies, and no Drixoral. It is the best for allergies, and also excellent for a cold with heavy runny nose. This is terrible! ## You are not alone - There are many others reporting the same thing. The manufacturer has actually removed it from the market temporarily while they change manufacturing facilities. At least that's what they say. There are a number of other discussion about this on the site, and you may be able to find someone who has tried a different product with comparable results. Good ...
