The first thing you need to understand is that cellulitis can be a very dangerous infection. In cases where people left it untreated, they have lost limbs or had to have large sections of flesh and muscle tissue removed that resulted in permanent scarring and disfigurement. There have even been cases where it turned fatal, because the infection became systemic.

So, the point I'm trying to make is that the risks are far, far greater if you don't take the antibiotics and let the infection continue out of control.

And as to their being alternatives, no there aren't. It will require some type of antibiotics and there are possible side effects associated with all medications.

I apologize if I seem harsh, but this is all very true, you need to decide which is worse....the possibility of losing your leg or your life...

of the possible short-term side effects of taking the antibiotics to treat it.

Learn more Doxycycline details here.

Learn more Cephalexin details here.

Both of these are pretty mild and innocuous antibiotics that don't cause severe problems in many people, so what did you read in the side effect information that has scared you so badly?

Maybe I can explain more and help you feel better about taking them.
