Please let me know if you take doxepin tricyclic antidepressant. If so how much do you take and how long does it take to work? Please respond.

Hello, Theresa! How are things?

I have never taken it myself, but Doxepin is actually now considered to be both a tricyclic and an anxiolytic medication.

Like other medications in this class, it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full level of effectiveness.

Its common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, hypotension and erectile dysfunction.

Hi, I take 100mgs a night, takes about 1 hour to really get sleepy. You will have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning until your adjused to it. Hope this helps.

I have been on doxepin 150mg for 3 months. Now I'm on 75mg doxepin and taking 1mg clonex for the anxiety. I need to know how to continue tapering down the doxepin?

I wouldn't worry to much about Doxepin dependability. I never really miss it, take 200mgs a night,then I don't take them. I may wake up a lot, but can get back to sleep, I've never felt any real withdrawal from Doxepin at large doses

I'm a 58 year old woman taking Doxepin for sleep. I have tried everything but Ambien. Now my doctor prescribed this. The 1st night it worked well, 2nd night it didn't work at all. I have been tired all day. I'm on the 6 mg dose. Anyone else taking Doxepin for sleep? Have you liked it or is there something better? Help. I can't take this any longer.
