Mary Says:

I have been taking Doxepin for about a year and I have the side effect of puffy cheeks. How long does it take for the weight gain and puffy cheeks to disappear?

Hello, Mary! How are you doing? Has there been any change?

The weight gain can be a typical side effect and, while it can last the duration of the time you're taking the medication, it usually levels off after a few months, as in it should hit a peak and then stop, you may not lose what you've gained, but shouldn't keep gaining more, according to FDA reports.

How much have you gained?

As to the puffy cheeks, that is not a reported side effect, though it could be related to the weight gain.

Have you consulted your physician?

Yes I have been off of the Doxepin for over a month. I haven't lost much weight, but my face is back to normal.
