I went to my doctor today to get my scripts refilled and he gave me a drug test to check my levels? I am prescribed .25 mg of Xanax 3 xs daily and 150 mgs of Effexor daily and methadone. Since I ran out of Xanax and took lorazepam instead will the lorazepam show up as the same thing as Xanax?

It depends on the type of test he uses. There are some basic tests that just check for the presence of Benzodiazepines and if that's the one he uses, then since they are both in the same drug family, that's all that it would show.

However, they are both different drugs, Xanax contains Alprazolam and Lorazepam is the generic for Ativan, so a test that looks for the specific metabolites would show exactly what you took.

Learn more Xanax details here.

Learn more Lorazepam details here.

When will you get the results?

No Joey as they are different medications. For either drug you would need a valid script for your drug screen!

I have been taking pain meds for years with no problem except for people trying to enforce their personal views on my life by constantly molesting me with their view of meds but I feel that everyone is different and the situations also.. I have a lot of pain in the left side of my body and need pain med to work and get around with my family I can hardly keep up... there are so many people that swarm into your life when you do not do wrong actions that never can be happy that you made it to point of living well.. I always have to endure accusations of all sorts just because I have been taking meds that actually really helped me get my life back although nothing is perfect it has been better than the alternative options but as the world has started attacking anyone who prefers the old fashion way of dealing with pain with just a few side effects to the point its a witch hunt. my doc started testing me and first test came back saying I had diazapine or lorazapam some sort of sleeping meds that I never heard of or even take because I only take diazapam rarely, adderall (add) norco 10-325 and roxy 15m for all the pain from years of hard work and horse training when I was a child also skateboarding... I NEVER WENT TO ANOTHER DOC. OR TAKE any MEDS from someone else but they insist i have sleeping med in me ??? including oxypine ?? this is really disrupting my life and the fanatics are trying to destroy my name and life? can anyone tell me what is going on? I always was sure to not get involved with anyone, never tried to sell anything or anything like that, however i did notice that at times my travel bottle would end up gone but I am active in landscaping and really could not say for sure I may have dropped it at times but what is going on why would doc make this kind of accusation out of the blue start testing me and take me off my meds? sounds like someone trying to drive me to the streets like all the addicts that exist now for the same kind of conduct are the managers out there trying to turn people out? why would they do people like this... however I plan on not pleasing their expectation and working less now because before I was needing a handicap sticker... crazy

I am prescribed lorazepam.5. I was out so I took half a yellow Xanax bar, which I don't have a script for. How long before I can pass a urine drug screen for employment?

I'm on probation and get random drug screens. I am prescribed ativan and celexa but sometimes I run out of my ativan. If I took a xanax instead could they tell the difference. It is a lab drug test

Wrong - Xanax is Alprazolam - Valium is Diazepam - Ativan is Lorazepam - and Clonipin is Clonazepam. All of these are benzodiazepines. Most places use the cheaper test that tests for benzos. If you get trapped, hold your ground and say you've been taking your prescribed meds only. Unlike other situations in life, honesty typically doesn't help where people wield power in other folks' lives, especially people working in methadone clinics.

I understand. I've had similar experience but finally got to a pain clinic. They are nice and it's controlled n they offer actual help without the usual stigma. Try to go beyond your regular Dr and find a pain clinic. It's very worth it. I don't even deal with the snob looks from the pharmacy anymore bc my scripts are delivered thru a pain clinic pharmacy. I wish u luck no understand. I've been on them for about 3 yrs now. Now I am alive, n I can be with my family, especially baby sit n hang out with grandkids.if not for the treatments I finally received I would be bed ridden if not dead. Hang in there. You have a right to competent care
