Does Methadone block the effects of Methamphetamine?

Methadone actually doesn't block anything, its just that in respect to other opiates, the receptors are flooded by the Methadone, so someone may not feel any effect from them, if they take them while on it.

However, since the Methadone is a downer and the other a stimulant, there is the possibility of a dangerous interaction occurring between the two, so they shouldn't be taken together, unless a doctor has specifically instructed you to do so.

My Dr. has had me on methadone 110mg./day for almost 3 years-I had facial nerve damage; then my wonderful s.o. refused to shovel out my car and I subsequently destroyed my spine-in summary I have been in acute pain since the 80's. My Dr. added percocet when I had an exacerbation (I have to mow, do physical work) but I couldn't understand the rationale as I have read methadone blocks other opiates-after this last horror of my several compound fractures to ankle and leg I suggested increasing oxycodone and decreasing methadone. Anyone have more SCIENTIFIC info on this? Thanks much.
