Does Belviq Really Work Better Than Chantix?

My Doctor suggested I try Belviq since I am about 30 lbs overweight and smoke like a chimney. I have been trying Chantix off and on for about three years, and had varying success. I am down big time to a half pack a day from 1.5 packs a day. Not sure I want to do the swap. Has anyone else had success with Belviq for quitting?

Belviq is approved for weight loss by the FDA, but I've not heard or read anything about it being used to help with smoking cessation. However, your doctor is allowed to prescribe medications off-label, according to their own experience, so they may know it to work for other people.

Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and anorexia.

Has anyone used it to stop smoking?

There is some interesting pre-clinical trial work that indicates that Belviq was more effective than Chantix:
