Fed up Says:

No one wants to prescribe controlled substances to you people on an ongoing basis because it is wrong!! I am a provider and see people like you all the time who go from practice to practice with your stories trying to get narcotics. You need to go to drug rehab, find a psychiatrist, do physical therapy, lose weight, and get a job!! This is no way to live and we do not want to jeopardize our licenses feeding into your addiction. I have personally been in three serious car accidents (none were my fault) and have had back surgeries, injections, PT etc. but have NEVER taken controlled substances except for two days after surgery. I have chronic back pain but I exercise and take care of myself and go on with my life!! Evidence-based practice tells us that narcotics are no better and pain control than ibuprofen or tylenol long-term. You are all addicts so you need to deal with your addiction. Stop wasting your time with your stories and antics in attempts to get us to write for controlled substances because we are onto you =)

Who are you talking to? I hate Pain medicine as well, and yet am stressed because I took a 600mg Ibuprofen the other night without enough water and could die from a perforated stomach ulcer. I'd ask why you posted here in the Ibuprofen section instead in one of the Opioid forums, however I don't think I'd want you as my doctor? Even my recent Colonoscopy had a bunch of different pain medicines like Fentanyl that I have never even seen. Perhaps you should just retire Doc?

It amazes me and angers me when the high and ohhhh so mighty can walk thru their lives in debilitating..(no that would " de able" your functionality) hmm-disability..(no,same thing- affects what "your normal" might be. I'm having trouble finding the right word to describe your physical problems, including how pain affects you, being... not me, or anyone else, I'd suppose.

Don't know your eye color (a genetic "tickle" going on that I'm sure you are familiar with. Mental state is unknown, as is med history, surgeries, childhood uh -stuff. And the cause for your admirable and stoic stance on, not only your pain and tolerance level (brown eyes? sorry) but your abilities of sympathy, empathy (actual or created). Of caring. And having a cognitive awareness of the vast differences among people about everything, including health issues.

I have a chronic pain issue, along with acute episodes, that remind me of having fillings done as a child without novocain. Or a bad toothache where the tooth isn't broken and the gasses cannot be released.(Tooth structure does not expand in a way that helps) I don't want addictive meds- so I'm looking for an alternative. But if I did take narcotic meds, I know that I need that level of relief, more so than you would. If I need to, I will- and it crazes me to know that truly needful people are pre judged by people like you. I have a strong sense that you are afraid that you are unable to assess well enough to handle the responsibility of appropriate pain management. Fearful.

The original post is an embodiment of the problem with so many doctors in today's medical system. They're not willing to listen to their patient's stories, let alone give them a remote chance of obtaining adequate relief. They tend to take a "once you've heard one story you've heard them all approach", forgetting that no two patients are created equally - especially those facing chronic pain. The lack of compassion in this profession is just mind bottling and a disservice to humanity. However I can see that at least some part of it comes from a place of fear, perhaps due to being judged/scrutinized by more experienced colleagues or the DEA. Well my opinion is if you can't handle the pressure of what being a doctor entails, maybe it's not the right field for you? I hope none of us ever have to see the day where we enter the office of someone of the likes of this person.

I'm really happy that you are managing your pain so well. But you really don't reveal what kind of pain your dealing with. I am an RN and your attitude regarding anyone who needs more than Tylenol is pathetic. Not everyone needing pain control is a drug seeking, fat, lazy, undisciplined, worthless peice of crap, out to ruin your practise. All I want to say is I hope one of these days when you need pain relief you meet YOU. That is what you deserve.

It is wrong not to. I have been on high doses of narcotics 9 years and raised 2 perfect boys. I've tried every med known to man. I've had a nurse side for 5 years to help with my yoga. In the last year meds have been significantly lowered and I'm now bedridden. Nothing else helps, believe me I've spent fortunes on everything from Tommy copper to neurontin and lyrica. One doctor said I could order you a large dose of medication and you could skip through the next 9 years, Ok?? So let's do that. As is I had to sell all rental property because I can't take care of them. My nurse side now has to do laundry and shopping because I can't. I wake up screaming several times a night. No "doctor" you're wrong. I want my life back. There are going to be huge increases in street drug ods because people that don't use them are left with no choice and not knowing how to use them are dying because it's better to be dead than in pain constantly. I'm giving one more chance to a doctor to give me my life back, if he doesn't my fight is over. So until you have lived with pain only helped by large doses of narcotics don't say it's wrong. Opiates have been used thousands of years with less deaths than any of the man made pharmaceuticals you're pushing.

I don't know you and doubt I would appreciate anything you have to say about much of anything until your ready to shut your mouth and open your mind.

I have had to hear ignorance on many levels over the years as a business owner and patient that requires narcotics to function.

I thank God every day I have great doctors a family that loves me and friends that stand by me and I them. How about you try walking in someone's else's shoes before you run that pie hole

Re: Maggie (# 4)

I have RSD in both hands from a Doctor performing the wrong surgeries. I also have MS. I was an athlete and never would take even an aspirin. HOW DARE YOU. I gave pain meds back 3 times the first year. Then I realized I will have to be on them in order to have ANY quality of life. YOU NEED ANOTHER PROFESSION. PROVIDERS LIKE YOU ARE WHY SO MANY ARE COMMITTING SUICIDE BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT LIVE WITH THE HIGH LEVEL OF PAIN. AND THEY GET A DOCTOR LIKE YOU.

Some of us have to work & do physical activities to make a living. You took an oath. I also took an oath when I joined the service. I did what I had to do. That's why you still have the ability to speak your opinion, as do I. Glad I don't have to depend on your services!

"Fed up" is scared to death to keep legitimate people who suffer from all types of diseases and cancer patients free from agony and all types of other pains! Fed up is just another provider who doesn’t keep their oath to help people in chronic pain because money comes first! I don’t know what this world is coming to anymore! But it’s a pity that dr's r scared to loose their licence because of a few guidelines! SHAME SHAME SHAME ON YOU!!!!

Just because you chose to suffer and not take the medicine you yourself needed after the carwrecks, so that's on you... you don't get a gold medal for that one. So, for you to say you don't prescribe them because you never took them, means you're just a selfish **********, that's all there is to it.

Well, Ms. Fancy Pants, We don't all have that high of pain tolerance to be able to deal without narcotic medication on a regular basis, and yes, just because you go to a different Dr., even for a 3 or 4th opinion, you don't know each case base by base, you just posted the stupidest post I've ever seen. When you've had a quality of life with pain medicine that makes you want to live, and then after months of not having it, your life isn't even worth living! There is no shame in getting a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or even 6th opinion about what may help a chronic pain condition- you are a worthless, and unable to show compassion, Jeff Sessions Jr., I pray you receive the judgement back you just put upon us, In Jesus Name. Matthew ch7:1 "Judge not, for with the measure you judge, it shall be measured back unto you." God Bless you and have the Word of God not return void in your life.

Hey doctor fed up: your idiotic post is a little old. I wish someone would take it down. This is a site for p. m. patients to discuss their issues. You are definitely one of those issues. So glad again I don't have to deal with you. I wouldn't even allow you to take my blood pressure or temperature. I also hope no one takes their children to you.

Re: Maggie (# 4)

Amen Maggie!! First off, what is with that judgemental tone of yours? Has it not occured to you that human beings do hurt and they (myself included) are in absolute hell with their pain? You might be an MD, but your bedside manner is that of a cobra and you don't know JACK S*** about pain! and to look down your nose judging us is an insult to injury! It's a slap in the face! I went thru 20 years of weird symptoms before I found out that I've MS. I'm not in a wheelchair, but buddy I hurt w/leg muscles that contract when walking but they don't release. It's torture with spasticity and your legs/knees won't even bend and to try and bend them would make them break! Then the MRI says I've got lesions not only in my brain, but on spinal cord w/2 discs in the back that have degenerated causing even more pain! Sometimes I wish I had to guts to end my life bc of MS, but I don't. What's really going on w/a lot of drs is that the DEA decided to fight the war on drugs by taking them away from patients who desperately need them just to make their life bearable and not to feel high. I heard they are threatening doctors who do prescribe. It seems to me that if enough dr's were to make a stand, they would change their minds, but many dr's (like yourself) are cowards and turn tail not caring a bit about their patients! You took an oath to care and to treat your patients w/compassion for God's sake!! And the war on drugs is now worse than ever because some patients that will do anything not to hurt will go to the street because they don't have a choice!

Your an judgements lads I don’t care how superior you think you are what happened to compassion? You keep your attitude up and your little piece of paper hanging behind your desk and sooner or later your patients will get sick of your lack of compassion and find a more suitable Dr who has been around long enough to really care about his patients so go on and enjoy your life maybe become a drug counselor at rehab facility that sounds more like your speed anyway so piss off

You don’t know what your talking about. I have been on pain medication due to herniated disks that Doctors only made worse. I can hardly walk across the floor without help. The government will spend more on me now than if I had some pain control. I’m depressed and not a productive citizen. My Doctor just recently took me off my Soma (muscle relaxer) I had been taken for over 9 years , just stopped the medicine. No getting off over time, nothing. I begged him to help me. I fell asleep behind the wheel and hit 3 cars at a red light. Never even work up till I heard a child screaming. You think that’s right? Your sick. I don’t believe you either. Doctors are addicts because of access and no one will help me. Not even you.

If you truly are a medical doctor (which I doubt very much) that post should cost you your license to practice.... any dr worth their grain of salt knows everyone responds to pain differently. You said you had back surgery. what was it for did you have a boil on your back & need to get it lanced that would be back surgery. No one can feel the pain others feel nor know how bad it actually is. Granted there are those that did as you describe. But who is to blame for that? How many drs told patients they gave meds to, "remember these will not take away all the pain it will just help & do not take more than prescribed." None of them in my decades of chronic pain ever told me that.. how many drs gave out another script when they came back 2 weeks early..... a lot I bet. But who is suffering now the true & honest chronic pain sufferer that did everything by the book didnt take more than scripted & didnt go back way early. Those that mri says they should be a blob on the floor because every disk in their back has major damage if they are not completely gone & the bones in the back fused together naturally. Mri that show stenosis so bad the spinal cord is being infringed upon. So you sit there on your high & mighty thrown fed up because you picked the correct name cause there are many honest chronic pain patient that are fed up with you mighty judgment casters that dont have a clue about the suffering those you chose to condemn go thru on a daily basis.. you better pray you never have to go thru it cause from the sound of your post you wont make it if you do.
