Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 269)
UpdatedI have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
Does anyone know of a pain Doctor in Colorado who will give Oxycodone and the Fentanyl Patch?

Re: Chaos (# 5352)
Hey Chaos... I'm no longer on the patch... I was in severe withdrawal and They gave me rashes everywhere I tried to place it. Now they have me trying Methadone But I have to keep getting EKG's... IDK what to do... I changed them when I was supposed to when I was using them.
When you are having your ER med dose increased, how do your MDs typically increase the dose? It's taken me a year to reach 15mg ms-contin 3x a day and 3x 5mg percoset, after being put in pain management for a spinal fusion which did not resolve my neck pain. My pain hasn't really been well-controlled this whole time, but I am thankful for any opioids in this political environment, so I don't feel comfortable requesting an increase more than every 4 months or so. (I've also realized that chronic pain patients really have NOTHING to do with the "opioid epidemic." If anything we are also victims of the crackdown, but that's another topic.) I don't care much for my IR meds, other than helping to keep me out of withdrawal when I get behind on my ER med, so I would really like to go up to the 30mg ms-contins from the 15s. Would a doc go up to the 30 mg pills 3x a day from 15mg 3x a day, or would they try to switch me over to another med possibly, so there's not a 45 mg increase at once, since that would be a large increase from a percentage standpoint. I know that no one can predict what my doc will do, but what is your experience? Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Go in there and tell the truth. Have ur U/A's clean everytime. I know you worry about looking like a drug seeker but if you have MRIs, scans, etc., they can usually tell. I used to be on 3 100s a day. They eventually stopped working so now I'm on fentanyl patches. What people don't know is that we can not get euphoria on our meds. I would have to take enuf to OD to feel high. The brain catches up every time. higher doses are useless. Every visit...speak from the heart that your current regimen IS NOT WORKING!!! Wish I had better news but u are right, us chronic pain folks are not part of the problem but we are having the quality of our lives ripped apart. I'll pray for you. Keep us posted.
Hey Suzy q...just saw your msg. Who are u seeing? Did hubby stay with Dex? I'm glad ur up and around. Funny how we take the small things in life for granted. In my healthy 20s I thought chronic pain sufferers were exaggerated. God...that Karma has come back to get me. My initial DX was for chronic migraines. 25 days a month. When I started going for pain mgmt, migraines became invisible. Now I have lots of issues that come up on scans. Everyone should try to get annual scans if u have insurance cuz I don't know any pain docs who will RX you w/o them.

You can only do 300 mg per month period .90 break thru and 60 er

Hi Susie... How's it going? Who are u seeing? I'm still with Dex. I have to give up food to afford everything. Trying to find a nob bit it is so hard when I don't feel well half the time. And like most of you I try not to worry...but its hard not to in this climate of illicit drug ODs and even oxy ODs. I've been to 2 services the last few months of kids I knew in HS that had OD'ed..So sad but depriving those of who dose responsibly & follow Dr orders and need pain meds to function is not going to stop the madness. It will only make it worse.
Re: Lucy (# 5366)
Hi Lucy, How are the fentanyl patches working for you? I was using them for a little over a year and they seemed to work as well as anything for ER. I was on Opana before and my doc didn't like that for some reason.
So we got into Dr Lincoln, great first appointment. He was very thorough and understanding. Listens well. My man's previous Dr had him on methadone and oxycodon. Dr Lincoln said he doesn't do methadone so they are having him try fentanyl patch starting on low dosage. We hope or works but are ready for this first month to be rough.
Kk (# 5371) --
Dr Lincoln is great, just the fact that he takes time to listen is so unusual these days, I wish he would be my primary as well!

Hi, nice to hear from you. Seems this thread is no longer comfortable for me to post. I really lost the feel of "our little thread Co. Community" the one where ppl weren't so judgemental and we helped one another. Unfortunately, I ended up at the methadone clinic. Inability to pay cash and see a million dr.s that take Medicare, I didn't have the time. However methadone covers 80% of my pain, that's even without a breakthrough. Seems to be the only way I can get my insurance to pay for my meds, but I had to say I was addicted to my rx'd prescribed pain meds. However, I was able to get a shrink in the deal, one that takes my insurance! The clinic is very close to my dwelling so I can't complain. It also seems like the last few months of seeing a PM dr, i kept running out 2 to 3 days early, seemed like 2 to 3 days of hell. No matter what I tried or how I tried I kept running out early. My tolerance apparently got way outta range when I tried the Fentanyl patch. I've heard the negative things about methadone so I'm taking good care of my teeth, I'm due for a cleaning soon, taking vitamins D, A and B-complex and fish oil.
Re: tammy (# 13)
Hi. I tried calling the pain clinic in wheatridge, but got his voicemail and left a message for a return phone call. Still waiting... Any suggestions? Can you provide me with more information on the location? I really need to find someone who will prescribe hydrocodone for my chronic pain. Thanks!
Re: Britt85 (# 4)
This is ridiculous. We're back to the war on drugs from the 80's. I have two broken hands, broken shoulder and back. Three docs said "suffer, no pain meds for you". Are we back to the civil war taking off limbs without nothing but whiskey? Does anyone know a real doctor with real compassion?
Pigeon (# 5375) --
The war on drugs certainly never stopped, my friend. You will have to keep at it and count yourself blessed when you do get in with someone who is bold enough to try to help you.
Living life (# 5369) --
Actually I believe its 120 breakthrough.is the current max for breakthroug. At least I hope thats the case.
Chaos (# 5373) --
Hi Suzie. I know what you mean about our on-site family. Still on the patches (200 MCG) every 72 hours and they seem to keep me at 80% relief. Medicaid is forcing me to taper off that amount. Been on them for 3 years this month. I have a family member on Methadone and it truly was great for this couple. We just had dinner with them and I was grilling them on all the facts. This couple quit Heroin a year ago and with Methodone their pain is managed and they're off any other opiate. So plz keep us updated. I am praying for you!
Re: tammy (# 35)
Hi I suffer with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. Along with a car wreck that left me with sciatica pain and more... I'd like that docs name if you don't mind.
I was told today if u have medicade and you self pay it's considered fraud. I was turned down by twenty places because of medicade. Has anyone else experienced this? I did find several clinics accepting medicade.
I am looking for a Dr in Monmouth, Co. who prescribes oxycodone for my very messed up back and my knee that was a plato fracture last year when a car hit me in a crosswalk.
