Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 21)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Hi I am new on here, been to a few doctors for my situation & I understand how it looks like I am dr hopping but I am not, at least not trying to. I just am having a hard time finding something that will help my pain, It's not back pain, a exploded breat implant that has caused a ton of scar tissue and nerve issues, and it's considered elective to have it taken out so I am saving up for the surgery but wont be able to have it until next year. For now I just need pain regulation until I can have surgery. I'm not some druggie, just in never ending pain that's honestly ruining my life. If you could let me know of some doctors that are understanding and able to perscribe pain care for no more than a year please please let me know!! Thank you so much

Read thru the thread and you'll see the information about Corso pain relief or other places. There is a lot of info on here you just have to take the time to read through them.

No I actually didn't Rainbow. Why? I'm prescribed quite a bit for my age and I don't want to cancel the contract with my doc unless I would still be written at least the same amount. I'm on fentanyl 100mcg every 48 hours and 4 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough. Does that sound like something they would do? And good, would you please tell me who you are saying is being judgmental.

And also I'm switching from fentanyl to methadone 30mg 4 times a day next month.

Rainbow, I used to be quite involved with this group until there were some that were truly doing inappropriate and questionable practices such as asking for Emails to purchase medications! Being a health care professional both Mac and Tam have always kept this forum as one of kindness and never have been found to be judgemental! I find your allegations without reason and as an adult, you owe these good people apologies! We all have difficult times and perhaps you were having one! Regardless, I would encourage you to read through the posts as I have and please show me what you consider judgemental! You won't find a finer group!

Ya I might try rocky if for some reason cpr doesn't work out but I like the physical therapy and their service and I think I'm going to stick with them until something changes. I will absolutely keep Rocky mtn as a back up. It's just cpr knows me really well and they have been super understanding through all of it. But I greatly appreciate the help. Good girl too. I don't get who you think is being so judgemental. If someone has an addiction problem and just takes meds to continue their addiction and not help with pain I don't necessarily approve of that but that is my opinion. All I know is if you really need them you can get them. If you're addicted and don't still have chronic pain then suboxone treatment is the route someone should take in my opinion. Im not judgemental, I'm just super sensitive about addiction. I lost my sister to an overdose..... so that has kind of changed my opinion of people that have a problem with meds. Doctors just prescribing people a ton of meds without reason isn't something I agree with. It kills people EVERY single day. I am in no way being judgemental. I simply don't want other families to experience the same loss I did because a doctor just keeps writing a ton of pills to someone who doesn't even need pain control. But I suppose everyone has their own opinion on that. But it is not coming from a judgemental point. It is only coming from a caring point where I don't want others to experience what I felt.

Actually I re-read the post and she said we are judgemental about people who abuse them... well we don't like it cause that along with people who sell, or are addicts make it harder for people who need them and now have to jump through hoops so yes I can say I think it is wrong. Be happy if u don't have pain cause its not a ball of happiness for us.

Hello again - MaC686: I know EXACTLY how you feel. I herniated discs at l4/l5 13 years ago. The first lumbar lami worked until about 2007 then I started on the oh-so-thrilling ride of trying to find a physician who would help me manage my pain as nothing else could be done. I've been to CROM; Denver Spine, SpineONE, used a private oncology pain doc until she moved, tried a GP (DON'T do this, most DO NOT understand pain management), had another surgery for more herniated disc and then found Dr. Perigine. HE was a miracle in my life! I take 60mg time-released morphine, plus up to 4 15mg morphine EVERY day since 2010. My problem is that I am having trouble with memory and recently lost my job so I've decided to take the leap and have the laser surgery done. Will let you know how it goes.

Good luck to you. Interwest Rehabilitation is the place - 303-790-1900

Straight up Tammy. I think it's honestly rude to get on here calling people out for not wanting to supply addicts with a doctor that could very well get him shut down and screw over the rest of us who are legitimate pain patients. SORRY you have an addiction. GO GET HELP!!!! And Lor, I hear you for sure! Please let me know how the laser surgery goes. Where are you going? I thought about laser spine institute in Phoenix AZ. Definitely let me know whether or not it works. And what are all your conditions you are trying to get treated? I have the L1 - S1 herniated L4, L5, S1 being the worst, arthritis in my facet joints up through my thoracic, degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, and sciatica. So ya, I'm pretty much screwed only being 23. Most doctors won't even see me for pain meds SIMPLY because of my age. I get so tired of hearing the "oh you'll get addicted" nonsense. If you take them how they're prescribed, you won't. And if I somehow do, then I'LL TAKE SUBOXONE! There are ways to get off of pain meds. But when I am still writhing in pain you better not even try to tell me the risk of addiction weighs more than living a semi-normal life. And GoodGirl, addicts are the reason why people at my age and even older can't find doctors because the DEA is cracking down and doctors don't want to lose their license over someone else, especially someone who is just playing them and lying to them and wants the pills at the other end just to "feel high". That's why chronic pain patients do not like addicts. They ruin it for the rest of us, I had my house broken into and my safe stolen and busted to hell (luckily he didn't get inside), and I've had people try to steal from me many times simply because I have pain meds THAT I NEED!!!!! Addicts don't care. They can't go through being sick for 3 days and then just sober up. They want to just do everything they can to get whatever they can. And that therein is the definition of a child. They want anything and everything they want no matter how they get it or no matter which doctors lose their licenses along the way and no matter how many TRUE pain patients get screwed. That's why, I at least, don't like addicts. So if you want to spread crooked docs then do it, but don't come on here getting mad that people have something to say about addicts. I've been addicted to many drugs before. I know how it is. AND IT ISN'T RIGHT!

If I said something in my post to offend someone, I'm very sorry. I was just saying it's hard to find a good doctor where I currently live to actually listen because so many people have messed it up for those that honestly need the help. Sorry, if I worded something wrong or someone took it the wrong way. Thanks to those that have responded to me, I appreciate it very much.

It seems that CPR is getting stricter with their patient intake. I called today to make a new patient appointment. They told me they would need my medical records and a referral from my physician before making an appointment. I have suffered from chronic, debilitating migraine headaches since I was a child and am now 53 years old. The only thing that helps is Norco or Percocet which used to never be a problem but in recent years, my neurologist and PCP have refused to prescribe because of the newer Triptan meds which don't work for me. CPR said they would only accept me as a patient with the dr. referral. Anyone else needed a referral to get in there for treatment? Don't know if my doc will be willing to write a referral for this clinic.

Have you ever been to a pain management clinic before? If not I see why they need one, I moved here and just transfered my medical records from there to them so I didn't need a referral but just tell your pcp u need a referral to them and your pcp can't deny you its up to you where u want care.

I think you just need to show a medical history, not necessarily a specific referral. I recommend sending them your records and I'm sure they'll set up an appt...so sorry for your pain, it's awful to suffer with migraines.

Good girl too. are you seriously saying that we should be supportive of people who abuse the system to make themselves feel high? That just screws real pain patients over to where doctors dont want to write anything. If you want to talk about karma maybe you should look at yourself. We're trying to help people in pain. You want us to give addicts a pain doc that will write whatever the addict asks them to simply because we don't know the specifics of why they're addicted? That's like encouraging your son to keep putting his hand on a burner even though it's burning him because he might have his own reasons for sticking his hand on the stove burner. Helping people destroy themselves isn't helping them. And the fact that you would keep doctors who will help pain patients away from those patients simply because they don't approve of abusing the system is just plain selfish in my opinion. Maybe those doctors can help pain patients. But if someone doesn't have pain they shouldn't be prescribed meds. You don't have to go to college for 8 years to know that. If someone is an addict they need help. Not someone to continue handing them a knife to continue cutting themselves. If you don't want to share your doctors, that's your choice. But the reason why you're taking me as being judgemental is because I've experienced the worst pain in the world from addiction, the death of a family member. I want people to be healthy and happy. If that means they have pain and need to take meds then that's fine. But if they're just wanting to make themselves feel high that isn't something that will help them and make them live a healthy and happy life. It will kill them and the families are left to feel the pain and loss. I am not judgmental. I care about people's well being.

Janeygirl 1st of all the only thing i have done is givin a name of a clinic or doctor who does pain management. I hace never jude anyone here. Maybe YOU should reread all the posts. I UNDERSTAND what they are all going thur. My thing is its not 4 me 2 judge anyone. Nor is it my place 2 ask what there medical condition is unless they say. If the need pain meds then they need them.
