I am on methadone for cronic pain. In a pill form. The methadone clinic is for heroin and givin in a liquid form and is giving in a much larger dose. It's not the same
Actually, the dosage from a Methadone clinic varies from person to person, depending on what drug they were abusing and how severe their addiction was, so it isn't stronger for everyone and right along with this, it isn't just used to treat heroin addiction.
That said, Kevin, by doing to a Methadone clinic that treats addiction, you are now labeled as being an addict under Methadone treatment in your medical records. And thus, the Methadone treatment laws apply and yes, they can do that and you have no recourse that you can take.
Learn more Methadone details here.
I am very sorry that you are suffering and having such problems, but those are the facts of the matter. You are not the first and I am sure you won't be the last that resorted to a Methadone clinic, when they ran out of other options, only to find themselves now labeled as an addict.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Excuse me, It is also used for addiction to alot of drugs. But my point I am trying to make is that, that is for addictions, not pain management. And your right, now he will be labeled!
you're wrong! get your facts right BEFORE you play "Mr know it all"! methadone is an EXCELLENT medication to treat moderate to severe pain and is used widely throughout the world for pain management! I know this personally because i have been on it for over 8 years FOR PAIN TREATMENT and it has been the BEST med for my pain and i have been on everything from motrin to oxycontin prior to the switch to methadone. get it right.
excuse me mr know it all. what is your piont? I also have been on it for even longer and I agree with you about that. I also like it more than anything else Ive been on and I also have been on everything under the sun. I broke me back BUT Thats not what we were talking about dumb ass
@mr know it all... I agree with your indignation. While Verwon is correct, he seems to be a professional and does not judge. Not like others who, if they hear someone like Kevin is taking Methadone and WAS taking Valium and Soma along with it in VA, and NOW in Michigan has no insurance so went to a Methadone clinic, jumped to a conclusion that he must be a drug addict because he's going to a Meth clinic.
It is not clear to me Kevin's situation when he lived in Virginia, (where I happen to live). If I'm not mistaken, as his writing is unintelligible in certain parts, he was probably taking Methadone for pain management. It's not clear whether he had back surgery here or in Michigan. His plea of desperation for his other meds (Valium and Soma) that the Michigan docs/clinic cut him off of was misconstrued in my opinion, that he was taking Methadone for addiction, not pain. I saw a typical arrogant reaction to Kevin and even Verwon about the difference between taking Methadone for (inferred) street heroin druggie, or narcotic medication addict. I take Methadone for pain as well and a tiny bit of Percocet which is ridiculous as my tolerance is through the roof. My pain is not under control but this is for another thread.
ANYONE who has taken Methadone for any length of time albeit for maintenance for drug addition, OR in a case such as this for pain, becomes ADDICTED to it physically, no ifs, ands, or buts. If one suddenly stops, from what I've read, Methadone withdrawal syndrome is worse than heroin or most narcotics out there.... Oxycodone, Morphine, anything. People have committed suicide during withdrawal, it's that bad. And only 50mgs taken for a few months will make you wish you were dead if you go into withdrawal.
As Verwon does, I really feel badly for Kevin and his situation AND the label he now carries. I realize he wrote the above almost six months ago, I hope he has gotten more relief and checks back in with us.
Dr.Robert Townsend Denali pain management he's online tell him Aaron Armatti sent you
I'm sorry, but I get this feeling that some people on this page in particular, and also some in this forum, are just on TOO much medication. OR, it could really help if you all would really stop and look at your writing and proofread before you hit the send button.
I hate to send like a witch, but I came on here to find out info and possibly help out some folks, if needed, with personal experience. I know that not everyone is college educated (or H.S., for that matter), but folks can use spellcheck or other progs if necessary. Just a tip, so we can all understand each others posts. Some of them I end up skipping because I can't understand them, that's my point! Thanks for hearing me out! ;)
methadone originally was for pain and then was found to work for heroin withdrawl
I can assure you that the world does not look at methadone as.a pain medication, although it is a very excellent one for chronic back pain...society views it as a "junkie"/drug addict if you are on methadone.. My daughter was.on it for chronic back pain and when.my granddaughter was born , the hospital reported it to cps because since her MD had retired, she had to go to a methadone clinic and that automatically labelled her an addict...cps eventually removed my granddaughter and it was hell for the next several yrs because of that label
That's because benzodiazepines and Methadone are very dangerous together.
Cool forum. I see someone I know too! F*&^ing small world.
Coming off Methadone is absolutely the worst cold turkey, I was on 110mg back in 1998 for heroin n had a fed indictment, well they used to come to jail n rapid detox you so in went down down only twice to 100mg n I got moved in middle of night to another jail 60 miles away n had to kick cold turkey in NC I was from NY. Never again did I get on methadone if I was in any legal trouble, I was literally sick 5 months lost 49 lbs n now years later I been on it 2x n successfully come off but not while in any legal trouble, while back your county jail would have local clinic detox you or deliver it, I been on it 2 yrs again but no legal trouble and I'm tapering and I don't do like I used to jump up to 100-170mg to be high I'm on 65 mg n fine
Re: Verwon (# 2)
I believe that a pain clinic is in order. A doctor needs to review the case, with an explanation from the patient with documentation. A pain doctor will work closely with the patient, and perhaps a lessor opoid is in order along with alternative methods.
Methadone, Valiums and Soma - That is one deadly cocktail!!! WHAT doctor in their right mind would have anyone on those 3 drugs together? I am at a loss for words here. How on earth did you function, weren't you falling asleep all the time, were you able to feel anything emotionally or were you completely comfortably numb??
