Doctor Putting Me On Suboxone, Has This Happened To You?

Updated

My Regular Doctor is on vacation and another doctor is taking my medicine (200mg morphine sulfate er and 15mg ir. And 30mg of oxazepam I use for bad migraines) away , putting me on Suboxone....I've researched it , doesn't sound to nice, lots of side effects and pretty severe! Kinda scared of it, and she said that I need to be in withdrawels before the Suboxone will work. ....ANOTHER BIG PROBLEM, and I would like to know if Anyone has had this happen.......new script for 100mg er pills from Rhodes pharmaceuticals, some worked and most of them didn't. This new Dr said"I've never heard of that ",so I handed her a recall letter about a different medication used for gut cramps.....now I know why those didn't work either...anyways I'm waiting for a reply from Rhodes and the FDA...HAS anyone had or have this problem?? Please let me know....thank you...

Hello, Marlene! How are you doing? I'm sorry about what you're going through.

Unfortunately, no doctor is required to prescribe you anything, or treat you in any way, unless you are in immediate life-threatening danger. Thus, there is nothing the FDA, or the manufacturer of any given medication can do to help.

As to the Suboxone, it risks causing the same side effects of the Morphine that you have been taking, which can include nausea, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, and constipation, it also carries the risk of being habit forming.

Can anyone else chime in with their experiences?

Hi verwon, thanks for your thoughtfulness. I'm kinda getting a vibe from the posts I've seen, that people want to b**** about stuff but not interested in how to get together to solve this problem...maybe there is a discussion thread that's more up to date with more conversations from others... That was my point when I said people need to make a stand but most won't. Take care.

What a mess. Ur regular doc was just in vaca and this power tripping dr decided to change ur medication ?????? Did that doc think U were a new patient of his? Not just visiting cuz his colleague was out of town? THAT is terrifying. Did u ask why? Or just decide to be safe and keep mouth shut. I would have prob done that.
I hope u got back on what's worked for u in the past.
I have gotten wrong meds before too. Had to go to ER gave me 60 mg Codiene tabs ( I didn't they even made those) instead of 5 mg methadone. I was to take 4 tabs of my 5 mg methadone. Instead I took 240 msg of codiene sulfate!!!!! I got super sick to my stomach about 30 mins after taking it. I think that saved my life. Then I started itching like CRAZY. I just felt weird. Codiene has never agreed with me. I kind of thought to myself " o feel o took a Codiene pill".
Sat at hospital for a while wondering about that. After they released me I got home opened up my new bottle, new refill and looked at them. It had the number 60 on it.
I knew right there something was off.
My medicine should have had a 5 on it! So called the pharmacy and asked them what it was.
They felt awful and explained the 2 bottles looked much the same and were right next to each other on the shelf. I had it happen another time too. Was given a refill of part prednisone and part 5 mg methadone.
So u really do need to take a good look at ur medicines. Especially if it's something u take every day and there is a lot in the bottle. Dump them out and really check. U might give a count also. I've even been dispensed less than prescribed. And over prescribed.
It's kind of crazy and scary.
Take care everyone and good or better health to all!
