I am suffering from colone ulcer from last more than five years.i am doing colonoscopy test frequently and taking sazo500mg two tablets trice daily.i want any other medecine or treatment is available for me.frequently i suffering gastic problem,loose motion,join pain and bowel problem.Pls advice.

My Age is 60 years.
In the Last week of May-2011, I noticed that I am having some bowel problem. I found that I was having frequent bowel easing sensation. I found that early morning stool passing contained some blood traces and mucus. I took following medicines on the advice of general physician: 1. Tab Oflomac oz twice a day x 3 days. 2. Tab Daflon 500 twice a day x 3 days. 3. Meftal Forte twice a day x 3 days. I did not recover after this treatment. On the advice of senior Consultant- Gastroenterologist I underwent FULL COLONOSCOPY(CECUM..) and BIOPSY on 14-JUNE-2011. Colonoscopy report Findings are: RECTUM- Lower 10Cm diffusely hyperemic and friable mucosa; SIGMOID/ DESCENDING/ TRANSVERSE/ ASCENDING COLON- Normal; CAECUM-normal; TERMINAL ILEUM- not examined; BIOPSY- yes; IMPRESSION- ULCERATIVE COLITIS PROCTITIS. I was diagnosed with ULCERATIVE COLITIS. On his prescription I took (1) daily dose of one tab of Vegaz-OD (containing mesalamine usp 1.2g- as extended release) for 2 weeks. (2) applied before going to bed a candle of mesacol (Rx Mesalamine) suppository for 2 weeks. I noticed that my ailment got controlled.
On my second visit to the specilist on 28-Jun-2011, I was advised to stop using the suppository and continue using Vegaz-OD for 3- months. I find that my ailment is under control during the medication period. I am due to visit the doctor on 28-Sep-2011.
I hereby request you please advise me further regarding medicines and any test required.

I am suffering from UC since last 12 years. Symptoms been On and Off. I am adviced not to stop Vizag OD and continue with a maintenance dose all the time.

Divey Sachdeva : As per my study. This is a chronic disease and you need to have a good control of food and lifestyle. I showed to multiple docs and everyone suggests to continue the medicines. Mesalamine is a safe medicine and people can take it for a long time.
Doctors do not advice to stop medication once we get UC. But slowly dosages are reduced.
I am currently fit and in remission.I am having Vegaz OD/ or Mesacol tabs continously since last 1.5 years.
All you need is to be positive, change your dietary habits (eat everything but make sure they are hygenic because this issue is related to immune system), avoid stress because I have observed that whenever I got the relapse, it was a hectic and stessful period and i did not concentrate on food and health..
Mr Purakkash Gupita: I am not a doctor but after 12-13 years of experience with UC, all I can say is just get yearly colonoscopy and be regular on meds. Follow what doc says and do not worry :)

PBM : Have you shown to a good gastro doc??? There are better meds thn SAZO. there is a possibility that you have joint pain because of Sazo. Consult the doc and try to switch to Mesalamine if he suggest. It has lesser side effects.

Please, if you have ulcers in your digestive system check for yeast overgrowth first.
Research yeast, what it does and what you can do to rid yourself of it. It can really make you ill. It will not be a quick fix.

Suffering from loose stool and watery mixed diarrhea once or twice in the morning only. Remaining day no problem. Uptp afternoon some sort of iritation in rectum. Using Pantakind Flux daily one for gastric problem. My CEA is 2.58. My family doctor said moderate IBS given Cyclopalm twice a day. No improvement. My stool streem seems to be thin. I am suspecting inflamatory colon or bowel. Advice me .

Hi. I have had an ulcer since November 2004 and it was under control until this August with colonoscopies and Intazide caps. At times I took suppositories, enema, now taking Mesacol od 1.2 - 2 together after breakfast because for the past few days I've been feeling an urgency to pass stool and can't hold it for very long. It's brownish watery in the beginning then softer. Then yesterday i did a fecal calprotectin evaluation and the result is positive with 3000. Now my doctor says do a colonoscopy but I'm very scared of it and also having an anxiety and depression problem. My hemoglobin has fallen to 9.4 because I'm scared of scopy, so i forced my doctor to suggest me some medicine for it. He asked to take 4 Mesacol od 1.2 in a day and Mesacol suppository 1 Gm once a day after passing stools. Now i need to know if there's still a need for a colonoscopy? I'm really scared and worried doc. Pls help me. Thank u.

Yes you can have a safe pregnancy while using Vegas od. It's purely safe with no side effects. Just have a simple balanced diet.

Hello Iam sujan , I have been suffer from ulcer ecolits since 4.5 years, I had done colonoscopy twice and used to take 400 mg mesacol 400 mg tablet 2 time a day( total 6 tablet) before I had 9 tablet a day and doctor suggested me to reduced, but still I have a problem of bleeding in my stool , severe stomach pain, joint started pain while I climbed in the stair or some high level, a single day I need to go for toilet for 7/8 times, some time I can't able to reach in the toilet too, and I used to have several thinking and stress , heart beat faster please advise me,

Garima....I have severe UC..diagnosed since July 2016...7 months....Remmision....2 vegaz od tabs a day but now doctor is saying vegaz od comes with small side effects and told to take 5 ASA 3 times a day....And he is saying to have a colonoscopy in a gap of 5 yrs..What is the chance of colon cancer???
