THE NEW OXYCONTIN DOES NOT WORK, IT IS MAKING PEOPLE SICKER THAN THEY WERE TO START WITH AND WE ARE BACK WHERE WE STARTED. I CAN NOT EVEN PLAY OR HOLD MY 6 GRANDCHILDREN. PEOPLE SUE OVER DRUGS, WE NEED AN ATTORNEY FOR THEM CHANGING A DRUG THAT DOES WORK. IF ANY ONE THINKS THAT ABUSERS ARE NOT GOING TO FIND AND ABUSE SOMETHING ELSE AND A LOT CHEAPER THEY WILL NOTHING IS GOING TO STOP THEM, BUT THERE IS NO REASON IN THE WORLD THAT THEY ARE OR HAVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE THE PEOPLE THAT DO NOT ABUSE THEM SUFFER ! AND NOW EVEN MORE DUE TO EXTRA SIDE EFFECTS.

Getting an attorney to take such a case, especially since there is no real injury involved, because of the fact that there are other medication options that you can use, is going to be very difficult.

In spite of Purdue's claims that the new Oxycontin formulation works the same as the old one and has the same side effects, there have been many complaints about it.

The only thing I can really suggest is that you report your problems to both Purdue and the FDA at the following numbers:

Purdue Pharma number for drug safety/medication issues:

888.726.7535

FDA MedWatch number:

800-332-1088

Sorry, I wish I could help you more.

Are there any comments or questions?

I do not under stand how there is not a real injury involved. the old med's helped now the new ones do not. it is an injury when you went from being able to do a few thing's and now i can not even hardly move due to the change how is that not an injury. no one wants to help people that they are not going to make ton's of money from. i just wish some of these people were in our place, then i KNOW there would be a injury involved.

Verwon is correct...There are other options available for us chronic pain patients and terminally ill people. Unfortunately there is not alot we can do legally or in the court system on this matter when there are other drugs on the market that are used for pain. Unless we can prove in court that they really are harmful to human consumption then we are screwed! We will have to wait it out unfortunately. We are going to have to find a new pain reliever out there that works for you. We have to start from square one again. If they are making you/us so sick then we need to stop taking them period. I did. By not taking this new poison that they have replaced the old OC's to the new OP's by discontinuing the use and purchase every month will eventually break the company. This is one of the if not the most expensive opiate pain medications on the market today. Stop taking these asap! I have along with many others. I am on Opana er 40mg now and it did take about a week to 10 days before I started feeling better. I feel so much better today than I did prior to taking them poisonous pills that they have replaced. I was so damm sick that I was at my witts end. I am not saying by any means that the Opanas are as good as the old formula of the OC's but they are a hell of alot better than the crap I went though on them. They work OK with the right break though meds just fine. They only seem to last around 6-8 max and NOT 12 like they clam. Same as the Oxycontin. I never ever had them last that long either. By hitting a company like Purdue Pharma where it hurts "FINANCIALLY" thats how we win. Stop buying the poison and get on something else that works for you. Good Luck To You All :)

I am a pain patient. Serious chronic pain. Once I was a dope-shooter. Serious chronic shooting. Now that's one way that"new" OCs are not as good as "old" OCs.

Ya wouldn't want to be shootin' 'em wouldja, dude? I mean... just asking.

My pain Doc. is trying to put me on BELBUCA 600 MG. IT WORKS GREAT. TOOK ALL PAIN AWAY IN 10 MINUTES. BUT IT STOPPED WORKING IN 6 HOURS DROP OFF LIKE A ROCK. I am a chronic pain patient for the rest of my life. I have 10" and a half inch titanium bars and 12 screws in my thoracic area of my back and my bottom lower crossbrace has already broke. They took that out n come to find out my other doctor was hiding all cross braces were under recall!!! Sure would've loved to have been compensated for that massive pain of bottom cross bracing breaking. GOD BLESS TO ALL chronic pain patients. The government has a war against us!!!

Re: MajorPain (# 3)

My old Dr at one point has me on 160mg twice a day of OxyContin. I almost died it made me so damn sick. I started getting pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized 4 plus times in a year. They told me the OxyContin couldn’t cause that which is complete bulls*** because I haven’t been sick like that or with pancreatitis since I made them wean me off of them. Now I’m on a Fentanyl patch that I change every 3 days. It’s taken away 85% of my pain and since I have a lot of tummy/G.I. problems this works for me as I do not have to take it orally so it don’t make me sick and effects me a different way. Plus since it’s changed every 3 days I don’t usually forget to change it on time so I’m not hardly in pain like I was. I can live life and it’s tolerable now. I used to not even be able to work I was so sick. Now I have 3 part time jobs. The only thing I’m worried about is these can’t be that good for me for long term and I’m afraid how the withdrawals are going to be! I do plan on eventually weaning off the patch and be put on something milder. However this is what works for me.
