Dizziness/ Meniere's

Updated

So I've tried just about EVERYTHING ELSE so now I'm posting here for my help!!! Quick backstory I've had Meniere's since I was in middle school (at the time I didn't know it was Meniere's) I remember being curled up in a ball while the nurses room was spinning. It only happened about 5-6 times through out middle school. I also have horrible migraines. Then I went almost a decade with no problems. Then just here n there it would happen then again gone for a decade. Until about 4-5 yrs ago I started to get it bad again. Having to leave work get picked up outside of work cause I can barely walk. Then I'd get home throw up once and go to sleep for a few hours wake up and feel fine!! Until one day I woke up in th ed morning with it and it didn't go away for 3 days l was scared so I got a ride to the ER. They asked me a bunch of questions and did absolutely nothing for me gave me some nausea meds and sent home. So I decided to go to an ENT specialist they find out I'm deft in my left ear pretty dam bad. And diagnosis me with Meniere's disease and send me to get an MRI on my head/Ears to confirm they find nothing and found nothing for my migraines either they say everything looks fine. Now I'm still having vertigo attacks and even when I'm not the past 4 weeks in a row I'm DIZZY ALL DAY LONG at work it's the most awful feeling to deal with all day it sucks and I'm over it. I just want to be normal not feel GREAT not feel AWESOME JUST normal!!! I'm out of ideas I also went to a physical therapist who specializes in vertigo and did the test and he couldn't induce it so I was screwed again PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP

I’d suggest seeing a neurologist. You may have vestibular migraines. There are several different types of migraine. Google it, and see if you match up to it. A neurologist can diagnose this and put you on medications to help control it. I have them, and take 3 different meds to keep them at bay.

O.k. thank you that is the only person I haven't seen yet. And is next on my list my doc recommended me to one I just dont have the money go pay for the specialist right now. I'm just wondering what he's able to do that the doc,ENT and physical therapist hasn't been able to do??

It really is a specialist kind of thing. The neurologist is trained to deal with problems that an ENT or general practitioner just doesn’t have experience with. My own quick backstory - I had an incident of choking on a pill - lots of hard coughing, retching, etc. to clear my airway. Got my airway clear, but experienced a terrible pain in my neck. I’ve had several c-spine surgeries, and thought that I had disturbed instrumentation in my neck. But the pain subsided, and I let it go. I started having weird symptoms, vertigo, autophony, hyperacusis, and did research. My internist ordered a head and neck CT. Turns out, I suffered a right vertebral artery dissection, and a left superior semicircular dehiscense. I basically blew 2 holes in my head. I saw a neurologist, who performed surgery on my dehiscence. The right VAD healed on its own. But I was left with vestibular migraine. The neurologist was able to diagnose me and treat me. The other docs really didn’t have a clue how to treat me. I now take verapamil (a cardiac med) as a preventive, Imitrex as an abortive med (when the migraine hits), and tizanidine (muscle relaxant) to relax the vestibular area. Pretty much got my life back, as I was in bed, or vomiting. If you can, go see one. If it’s vestibular migraine, a neurologist can help.
