No, I'm sorry, there are several posts about this recently.

There are, however, several alternatives on the market that contain the same dosage, have you spoked to your doctor about using on of those?

One of them is Ortho-Novum, there is also Genora, Nelova and Norinyl, as well as a few generics.

Some common side effects to these birth control tablets may include: nausea, headache and weight gain.

Are there any other questions I can answer for you?

I called Watson and spoke with them directly and they adised it has NOT been discontinued, it is only on a temporary delay. There is not an ETA date however of when it will be available again. My pharmacy told me the first week of August but Watson did not confirm that. Hope this helps!

I am taking Necon as well and very upset. Walgreens told me that Ortho Novum had been discontinued too. Waiting to hear from Dr.

OMG, ok so I thought I was the only one ... I was fine, this is to stop everything, and was the only thing that worked, now I am in such severe pain when it gets to the end of my cycle that I feel almost like I am having kidney stones (which I know is not the case from past experience), I really hope that Neco does become available, I am on Notrel and it doesn't work!!!

I have been on a generic for Ortho Novum 1/50-28 for a long time now. Having tried dozens and dozens of other BC pills & shots/patches, etc, this is the ONLY thing that has worked for me... I was told last month a distributor discontinued it, they werent sure why. I spent all day today calling various pharmacies in my surrounding area to find one who thinks they might be able to get it in. Whats worse? I still have about 9 refills left of this, but my Dr left the practice when the practice closed, so Id have to be forced to find a new Dr, explain everything, yadda yadda yadda in hopes a new Dr would know something else to try.

I am also VERY UPSET about the discontinuation. Whoever is responsible for the discontinuation has no idea how much it has helped women who really need it. I haven't found any other kinds that have controlled my pain and flow like Necon 1/50 did. I really hope that we can get it back- and soon!

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

The Norinyl is norethindrone and ethinyl estradiol. Mestranol is a derivative of ethinyl estradiol and some women will not be able to make the switch.

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I think I took ortho-novum 1st before necon. This has been my only relief from cysts for years. Was it a problem with ingredient safety? Or just manufacturer problem?

Hi. I’ve been taking Necon 50mg for over 6 years and out of the 13 different birth controls it’s the only thing that has worked for me. I was told from my MD that there are no longer any 50mg pills anymore and the next dose down is a 35mg. Apparently, just hear say, only 1% of the population we’re taking the 50mg and that’s why they discontinued it? I’m very upset bc it has worked so well for me. Now I’m struggling with this new pill.

Re: Summer (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

My daughter's dr. put her on Zovia because of the discontinuation of Necon. It's awful for her. Now we don't know what to do. The dr. doesn't know what to do either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Summer (# 14) Expand Referenced Message

Hello. I am in the same situation. I have been on Necon 1/50 for years and now have been told they no longer make the high dose birth control pills in 1/50. The only option is to try a 1/35 birth control pill. However the change would include 2-3 months of spotting and to make sure to use protection when having intercourse. I have tried the 1/35 many years ago and would constantly have break through bleeding. But this seems my only option now or to discontinue taking birth control pills. I am so curious about the reason for taking the 1/50 off the market. Has anyone had success switching over to a lower dose? This won’t be an easy switch.

Same here. I tried everything for over 3 years and Necon 1/50 is the only thing that keeps my endometriosis in check.

Me to. So sad they discontinued. My dr put me on ortho novium 777 and I’ve had breakthrough ever since. It gets less every month so hopefully I will get back to normal with it.
