I took Diovan brand 320-12.5mg for a very long time. The generic became available. I have a history of reacting to drugs and wanted to stay with the Sandoz which I've been told is a generic to Diovan and Sandoz company is the generic company of Novartis who originally made Diovan brand. By hopping from one drug store to another I found Valsartan Hydrochlorathiazide tablets 320-12.5 mg marked identical to the brand drug with the HIL and NVR on the pink oval pill. I paid generic price. Soon pharmacy ran out and told me they would not be getting anymore Sandoz Valsartan HCTZ 320-12.5mg. I was told to go to other pharmacies and maybe they would have some on their shelf. I did, I even went out of state and was able to buy 90 days but was told that's it, no more will be available. The...

I've been taking 80mg/12.5 for some months now; bp when measured with two different monitors (upper arm and wrist) has averaged 106-110/61-63, with diastolic figures at times lower than 60, heart rate 55-70. Readings are elevated at the doctors clinic ~ 130-140/75-80. Main problem is regular tension like headache, with similar burning sensation feeling occasionally behind the ears / neck region. CT scan results okay. Electrolytes figures, kidney & liver function tests, and sugar level tests results also okay. I'm strongly convinced that the co-diovan medication is responsible for the headaches / burning sensation feeling described early. My doctors are still observing and this has affected quality of life for me. Is anyone with a similar experience and how can this be addres...

can you take Esculturex with Diovan 160/25 mg ## Esculturex is listed as containing Sibutramine, a drug that was used to aid in weight loss, until it was banned from the market in 2010, due to the increased risk it caused of adverse cardiovascular events. diovan hct expired 2007 I ran out of prescription and until I replenish can I take this pill which was a sample from doctor ## No, that is way to old for it to have any efficacy left. Even in the original factory sealed container, they are only good for about 3 to 4 years from the date of production, after that they start to lose efficacy. the best thing to do would be to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription. Learn more Diovan details here. Learn more HCT details here. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have sample Diovan 160mg from Doctor I just found, sealed from 2009. Is it still safe to take now in 2014?

I found an unopened bottle of Diovan (90 tabs) in my medicine cabinet. It got pushed back by my more current orders. It expired 5 months ago; are they still good? ## Hello, Ann! How are you? They don't get dangerous once past the expiration, but they do begin to lose effectiveness. Are they in a factory sealed bottle or one from your pharmacy? The factory sealed ones usually have a longer expiration date. ## Thank you Verwon. I was told it is still good until the end of the year so I started taking it right away. At least my 3-month supply won't be wasted.

The doctor wants to change me to Diovan and Hydrochlorothiazide. I am currently on Lisinopril 40mg. I am afraid to change. I am allergic to sulfa drugs. I have had a cold/flu for about 2 months and he thinks Lisinopril may be causing the cough. (this is a new doctor to me). I have been on Lisinopril for 10 years and have had no problems. Not sure what to do. Also Diovan is a tier 4 drug. Lisinopril is a tier 1. ## Hydrochlorothiazide is a sulfonamide, but they don't always cause problems in people with sulfa allergies. Learn more Hydrochlorothiazide details here. I've taken it without a problem, but had a very bad allergic reaction to the antibiotic Bactrim and am listed as being sulfa allergic. However, it is best to proceed with caution. Have you discussed the issue with your ...

Had not taken BP tablet for a while, then had a test that showed the pressure was high, finds the med. I take has expired but still has a lot, should I just discard them or can it still be safe to use? ## Hello, Bingbing1956! How are you? Medications start to lose effectiveness over time, so it's not going to work as well, since it's been expired for 2 years. Beyond that, you need to see your doctor, get on a good, non-expired medication and stick with it. There is no cure for high blood pressure, it has to be continually controlled and you can't just take a medication until it's at normal levels and then stop, because it will go up, again. The medications also take time to reach their full level of efficacy in the body, so they aren't something you can just take as ...

My mom just started taking diovan for her hp and she has diabetes.Sence she has started taken it her sugar level has gone up to 200. Is there anyone else who is on diovan and has diabetes? Any input would be great!CArrie ## Diovan should not cause your mother's blood sugars to go up. Diovan works to protect her kidneys from renal failure, a common disorder with diabetes when not in tight control. She should be monitoring her blood sugars four times daily if they are high and be careful of what she is eating. ## Yes my Mother takes Diovan and has diabetes, since she started her pressure is really low(confused on that). she's 90 ## Yes, I called the company & they stated it should not affect my blood sugar, however, it was 200+ for the 2 days I took it. Im taking Diovan HCT 160/12.5 for my blood pressure but it is still little high.I have a second medicine I used to take Labetalol HCL 200mg.Is it ok to take them both? ## Okay first, what numbers do you consider a little high? You have to understand what when someone has high blood pressure, the basic goal is usually 135/85 or right around there, because in many cases it isn't practical to try to get them to 120/80 or lower. You also need to be watching what you eat, such as keeping your sodium as low as possible and not overdoing your fluid intake, to help lower it. On top of that you also need to be getting regular exercise. Learn more hypertension details here. Other factors that come into play would be the time of day you are checking it, because it is normal for some fluctuatio...

is it safe to take diovan, bystolic, augmentin, fluimucil together? ## My best response to your question is always discuss your concerns with your doctor, he or she can give you the best advise on any drug interaction with another drug. ## Actually, doctors are not as well educated about the finer points of medications as pharmacists, so if you want accurate answers your pharmacist is your best bet. .....or this website, since that's what it's here for! difference between diovan 320mg & metoprolol 50mg Will metoprolol do the same job ## The Diovan contains the active ingredient Valsartan, which is an ARB, while the Metoprolol is beta blocker and it usually takes a lower dose of it to achieve the same results. They both carry the risks of very similar side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, stomach pain and headache. You can learn more at the following links: They both are used to treat high blood pressure, but are different types of medications and work differently. Why has your doctor suggested the switch?

I am taking Diovan 160 mg daily for the past 2 years and lately i have been experiencing some sort of vertigo espacially when i lie down on my bed on the left side. Can somebody on Diovan tell me if he has experienced any form of vertigo ## Diovan contains the active ingredient Valsartan, it is used to treat high blood pressure. And yes, these medications can cause this type of problem and orthostatic hypertension. Have you consulted your doctor about this, yet? You may require a medication adjustment or a switch to a different medication. I've been taking one in the same class and, gradually, over time, it has been lowering my blood pressure far too much and causing these same types of symptoms, so we've had to keep lowering the dosage.

I have ben taking Co Diovan for HBP for a year and a week ago was admited to the ICU for a ministroke and blood pressure over 200. Is it possible that Co Diovan (not on other medications) is responsible for this? ## Co-Diovan contains the active ingredients Valsartan and Hydrochlorothiazide and is commonly used to help lower high blood pressure. As to what you experienced, with a BP reading of over 200, it is more than likely that your blood pressure being so high is what is responsible and not likely the medication. Mini strokes and full blown strokes are just some of the hazards associated with ones blood pressure being out of control and high. It's possible that after a year of using the medication, your body had adjusted to it and it is no longer working as well to control your ...

i was prescribed diovan 320 mg htc norvitis and diovan 320 mg valsartan, are these the same drug ## No, they are not really the same. The Diovan HCT combines the ARB medication Valsartan with the diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide, which removes excess fluids from the body. The regular Diovan just contains the ARB medication Valsartan.
