Dilaudid Withdrawal Feedback Requested

Updated

On day 4 of cold turkey Dilaudid withdrawals. Severe back pain sufferer. Was on 24mg/day for about 18 mos. Brutal. So tired I can barely move, add to that the back pain with limited muscle support and you start to get the picture. Worse symptoms have been diarrhea, insomnia, headaches, mental strangeness and I'm in too much of a general fog to remember what else. Only reason I've slept at all in the past 3 days is Temazepam. But at best an hour or two at a time. Not a natural narcotics lover. No pain, no drugs. Have Diaz and Temaz for a general insomnia problem anyway. Plus if you don't sleep and have a pain problem you're toast. To be completely honest, my doctor is a total F***ing A****le and a quack. I live in a rural area and there's no choices except this idiot and epidurals which have never helped. No way I tell this jerk I'm kicking again, as he'd just make life more miserable for me. 8 screws for a fusion, two artificial discs and a half dozen other pieces of hardware holding my lower back together. Have kicked oxycodone twice and methadone twice before, only to have to return do to not getting food in my mouth due to pain or having to take a trip for other med needs. Why am I doing this again? One more try. Living like this is no life. 7 years now. I know that's a mouthful, thanks for reading, any feedback is much appreciated.

I am so very sorry for what you've been through and the misery you've been experiencing.

Is there anyway you can travel anywhere else to see a pain specialist?

Even if you can only do it occasionally, they may be able to help you find a good treatment regimen, which your local doc can then just maintain.

I stopped pain management myself cold turkey a few years ago, after having been on strong doses of Morphine and Oxycodone for almost 8 years, so I do understand how bad of an experience it is.

One thing I found that really helped when I was aching so badly was a long soak in a warm tub.

3 more days... the temazepam is the best idea i can think of. just don't go overboard with it. people forget that 3 days of withdrawal is really six days when you can't sleep...
