White round pill with double score one side and Lederle with a cursive L on the other side. ## Do you know the dose of this Tablet in mg? ## I found a PDF leaflet on this medication from Medsafe (NZ), and it states: " DIAMOX tablets are round, white, cross scored and marked with “Lederle” on the back... The active ingredient in DIAMOX is acetazolamide. Each tablet contains 250 mg acetazolamide. DIAMOX tablets also contain the following inactive ingredients: - sodium starch glycollate - povidone - calcium hydrogen phosphate - maize starch - magnesium stearate "3 REPLIES Updated
I have pseudo tumor cerebri and just got a lumbar puncture AKA a spinal tap for it. After that I was prescribed diamox to keep the pressure down and the doctor told me I shouldn't take recreational drugs such as cannabis or alcohol. Being a college student this is a bit of an issue because I'm going to be on this medication for the next 8 months or so. Does anyone know if taking cannabis or alcohol while on this is really that bad? Or if one is safer than the other? Thank you! ## Hello, Mackenzie! How are you? Marijuana has never been shown to react adversely with any prescription medication. Alcohol, however, can be problematic, because it can worsen the side effects and aggravate many medical conditions, so it is best to avoid it, while under treatment. However, it is always b...1 REPLY Updated
Will diamox still be as effective for treating ams. I'll be trekking in nepal ## Hello, Hiker! How are you? It isn't that old, so it may still be good, you'd need to check with your doctor on that. However, the best thing to do would be to obtain a new supply, before going off on your trip to be sure that it's effective and safe. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, fatigue, drowsiness, depression and bitter taste. How often do you take it?1 REPLY Updated
I have pseudo tumor cerebri & was given this drug to reduce some of the pressure in my head. Every week I face several severe side effects, what drug could I recommend to replace this one? ## If you're just using Diamox Sequels (Acetazolamide XR) for glaucoma (intraocular pressure) as it's indications state, then I would consider trying medical marijuana as an alternative replacement with less side effects. I can't say for sure that it will work as well or better, but if you are wanting to avoid such severe side effects, it could be a viable option. Personally, I feel that it works very well for me if I ever have pressure in my head and want a "lighter" feeling, per say. Hopefully it can work just as well for you in a similar manner, but I suppose it would really...1 REPLY Updated
