I sympathize with you the FDA is making our doctors to afraid to prescribe the meds we NEED so we suffer. There has to be a way we can keep the FDA and Docs happy so we can get the meds we need

Hello, Reba! How are you?

Unfortunately, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you.

The quickest and easiest way to find the help you need would be by having your PCP refer you to another pain management specialist.

What other options were you offering by the one you went to?

Reason why doctors a re not prexcribing narcotics like percocets, oxyxcontins and fentanyl is because of the addicts in this country and so many of them dieing from overdosing. It is not right for the people who do need them on a regular basis. I was told there are about 5% amount of people who say they are in pain that actually need them on a regular basis. If that is you I feel for you. Luckily I found a doctor in another state that is only about a 45 minute drive for me to perscribe them for me. No doctor will do that in the city I live in. GOOD LUCK!!

I have just watched the last episode of the Unibomber. Although I do not agree with hurting innocent people to get people hear your pain, I do totally understand where this man was at in his life. Until I had the opportunity to deal with the medical community on their terms, I never believed that a person could feel so discounted. I think the very worst thing you can do to a person is to tell them that what they go through is insignificant. I can see how Ted as mentally sick as he was thought to be may not have been as sick as we thought. We who have to deal with pain day in and day out have literally been told that we don't count. That our pain means nothing. That even though it was a medical procedure that gave me the daily pain I experience -- I am not important enough to be given any kind of help to deal with the problems created for me by the doctors who did this to me. I can sympathize with each and every person who has been placed in my shoes. To fight a system that simply doesn't care and to go headlong into an establishment that not only decided that you are not in pain but want to treat you like crap because you are asking for legal help. Your only response is to end it all and maybe that is the result the system wants. That is the only way to get out of the pain you are in. I think that maybe how Ted felt was discounted and his message so lost -- he felt the need to be recognized and his message heard. DEA you have the ability to help the poor suffering people who are crying out to be heard. And I know that at sometime someone (not me because I would end it all before I end anyone's life), is going to be so affected by his/her pain that this person will do something unthinkable and everyone will be upset and angry. No one will understand how it could have gotten to that point and everyone will ask why but those of us who have been minimized and discounted will understand perfectly. What i am asking is for the medical community to support your patients and help them fight this battle. I am asking the DEA to consider the human element of the decisions you have made. We are people and we need to be seen as such. We are not drug addicts. We are not just people wanting a high. We could get that from marijuana if that was all we are looking for. Please see us as human beings and we want to be treated with respect.
