Our English Bulldog needs a pain medication for very severe tooth and gum infections. He is 10 years old & he cannot have the anesthetic needed for surgery to remove his teeth. We are just trying to keep him comfortable and were wondering if this would help with his pain? If you have a better solution, we would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!!! ## Deramaxx contains the active ingredient Deracoxib, it is an anti-inflammatory that is often used to treat pain in dogs, such as that associated with osteoarthritis, and some types of surgery. The FDA lists the possible side effects for dogs as being similar to those in humans who taken anti-inflammatories, so they may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and increased risk of bleeding. 200 lb dog who needs this med for pain relief. We need some a little more inexpensive. ## My Rotti/shep bitch is 13yrs old. She's been on glycoflex for years now.She just started to favor a rear leg.The vet found that she is starting to have pain,so she gave me some sample bottles of deramaxx to try.I asked how much when samples used up & was told $112.xx for 30tabs! Alfalfa works on my arthritis pain(in my fingers) so I'll try it on my old girl. ## Hello, After running a few Google searches, I haven't been able to find any generics for Deramaxx...

My name is Debra and I have worked and taught in the human health field for 28 years. I am currently teaching adjunct professor courses on health and fitness at a local community college here in Michigan. I also personal train and teach fitness classes to the elderly including those with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease at a local senior center. I have seen the positive benefits of properly prescribed medications in improving the quality of life in humans and on occasion I have seen the negative impact of interactions of prescription medications and understand the disastrous consequences that can arise from misinformed or in this case totally uninformed individuals. I am a dog lover and a dog owner and am shocked and dismayed at the relatively po...

Deramaxx substitute. Is there a good substitute for Deramaxx? ## You will need to speak to the prescribing physician, this is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so there are others available, but they may not be appropriate for the condition being treated.

pain killer for dog ## Do you mean Deramaxx (Deracoxib) ? Deracoxib is a member of the class of drugs known as NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), the same class as such common over-the-counter remedies as Advil (Ibuprofen), Aleve (Naproxen), Orudis (ketoprofen), and Aspirin. The chief use for such drugs in the dog has been pain relief, usually joint pain or post-surgical pain relief.
