i HAVE BEEN PRESCRIBED TEVETEN FOR MAYBE 20 YEARS AND BELIEVE IT IS THE PROPER HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION FOR ME AS DO MY SPECIALISTS. HOWEVER IN RECENT YEARS THE ACCESSIBILITY HAS BEEN SO LIMITED AND IT IS SO INCONSISTENTLY DELIVERED TO MY PHARMACY (WALGREEN'S IN SAN RAFAEL) THAT TODAY I AM WITHOUT MY EVENING DOSAGE. MY PRESCRIPTION WAS PROMISED TO ME ON JUNE 20 NOW THEY SAY THERE ARE NO SOURCES IN THE WHOLE BAY AREA WITH TEVETEN. THIS IS A DRUG WITH NO GENERIC AND NOT ON THE FORMULARY SO IT HAS A HIGH PRICE TAG. I HAVE WILLINGLY PAID THAT BUT THE ANXIETY OF GETTING IT IS "GETTING TO" ME! WRITING ON JUNE 23 HAVING USED UP ALL MY EMERGENCY STASH. i HAVE SENT MESSAGES TO THE DOCTOR AND TO ABBOTT LABS...THEIR PHONE NUMBER ADVERTISED FOR CONTACT NEVER ANSWERS BTW. PHARMACY SAYS MAYBE THEY CAN FIND ME SOME BY TOMORROW. THE ANXIETY IS REALLY PLAYING ON THE BLOOD PRESSURE OF COURSE. WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE THAT I MAY NOT KNOW? WHAT DO PEOPLE DO IN THIS CASE? What I would suggest is perhaps switching to one that there is a generic for and which is much easier to find. Alternatively, you could also just keep a prescription for the alternative on file, for times like this. That's actually what I do. I take a similar medication that is shipped to me by the manufacturer and, occasionally, there are times when it's late arriving.

For those times, my doctor wrote me a prescription for Telmisartan, with several refills and I usually just pick one up every few months to keep it here, so I have another medication to use that works the same way and am not left without anything, because that could potentially put me in danger.

I thinking asking your doctor about doing the same thing would be a great idea for you.

thanks for suggestion re extra prescription. I did think that was frowned on but I will try it as there is no generic that I want to take ordinarily. An update regarding the late delivery: after a talk with my pharmacist he was willing when the order came through to sell me a couple months worth. So having a pharmacist with whom you have dealt and who knows you surely helps.
