Cymbalta Experiences

Updated

I am looking for someone who has been on this medication for a while. I would like to know how fast it works and if there were any side effects with nausea at first?

I had nausea in the begining but it ceased after a while. Had some problems with constipation too. I have always been baffled why someone with anxiety problems such as myself is put on an antidepresent. I felt really tired all the time. There were a few times when I would fall asleep at my desk at work or almost fall asleep driving in the car coming home from work. Sometimes I felt like I had no desires to do things just from being so tired. I have recently gone off of it and I have had some strange things happening. I have been getting some weird shocking feeling in my head and body. it's very strange.

prescribed 60mg/daily, since Nov 04. It damages neuroreceptors in the brain, with possible permanent damage, if you don't kill yourself first. Consult a professor of bio-chemistry and neuroscience. Check out newstarget.com, TruthPublishing.com, adrugrecall.com, antidepressant.com.

Replies are encouraged & prayers appreciated, as I need support during my withdrawal.

Love and Light,

Brad

I've been taking the drug for 2 weeks, and feel much better taking it. No mood swings, losing weight, not feeling fatigue. If I was having major side effects, I would call my DR.

when i wrote on cymbalta since Nov., i failed to write of 2004. That's right! Soon after approval, if you want to call it that, I was prescribed maximum dosage and have had no follow-ups. I just learned of the withdrawl side effects and I do not trust the very people who put me here. Did I mention that I was already prescribed 300mg of welbutrin, 1500mg of neurontin and up to 120mg trazadone (sleep) daily. All for diabetic neuropathy. NEVER anything or hint of depression or mental instability. 3 SSRI's, and 1 SSRNI. I'd sue, but nobody is accountable according to law.
It is time for public awareness and reform regarding the FDA and pharma, before they legalize chemical lobotomy.
Love and Light,
Brad

Brad, Sorry to hear about your plight. I feel for you. I'm a pray-er so yes I certainly will. Should we wonder why they call it the PRACTICE OF MEDICINE??

I've been on Cymbalta for almost a year. It works really well for me. Take it at the same time every day to avoid stomach aches. Sleep is very important. A sleep regimen that has you going to bed and getting up at the same basic times each day will help. I am able to concentrate and my memory seems to have come back. Not all drugs are for everyone so close monitoring by the Doc is the way to go.

I've been on Cymbalta for about 3 years. My doctor prescibed it when I told him I needed something to calm me down after a traumatic event. At first I thought it was a miracle drug. I was in my early 40's and many side effects were explained away as horomonal or due to other medical issues. I now know that hot flashes, night sweats, nausea, ringing in ears, a loss of balance were due to this drug. Missing even 1 pill has awful side-effects. I'm in a difficult process of trying to wean off the drug. If I knew 3 years ago what I know now, I would have never started taking Cymbalta. Better medicines I'm sure are on the market that are not narcotics with horrible side-effects.
Good Luck.

I have been on 60 mg cymbalta for 1 yr. It seemed to help a bit biy not as much as zoloft. Since im 64 and have a few aches and pains, Cymbalta has something to help tht. I noticed nothing lije nausea, no sleepind, etc. After a yr i still wasnt feeling myself so we doubled to 120 mg. Another yr and still struggling w depression. I tried to get off and my legs ached so bad i had to take Epsom baths and rub legs. U felt like i had flu. My entire body ached . Dr put me back on it. Im weaning off while taking 100 mg of zoloft. I am cutting capsule contents in half. I hope to never use this again. Zoloft worked fir 10 yrs for me..shdvr stayed with it. Prozac worked great right away but i coukd not sleep.

This med worked very well for a yr and half. But coming off of it is horrible. you have got to wean yourself off very slowly. down to counting out the beads. horrible side effects. zapping in brain, throwing up, shakiness, dizzy and overall sickness. I would never take it again but I guess if u don't stay on long it's not as bad. good luck....

Re: Brad (# 2) Expand Referenced Message

Hope you got in a legal suit again with the mfg of Cymbalta that recently quietly settled. What a racket.

Re: Trixy (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

I had some nausea in the beginning and very strange side effects and took 3 months until I started to feel better. Eventually pulled me out of the depression which no other drugs were able to do for more than a year. Right now I am taking less than 10 mg but have frequent brain fogs. Probably it is time to discontinue it.

I’ve been on cymbalta for a litte over a year. A couple of months ago I decided to wean myself off of it. Had no problems. Lately my back has been killing me. I knew it was also given to patients with fibromyalgia but didn’t realize it would help my back pain. Will the pain get better? I really don’t want to go back on it. Although I tolerated it very well. I just have to take so many meds for coronary artery disease, hbp, hypothyroidism.

I have been on it for 5 yrs for chronic back pain and fibromyalgia. It has worked great. I’m on 60 mg had no adverse effects. I notice it took about 4 days I could tell it worked. The only issue is when the pharmacy gets a new generic in. Only once it wasn’t as strong. It took a couple days to adapt. I hope it works for you. Keep track of what pharmaceutical makes it.
