Does any one know of a pain management doctor that prescribes narcotics on cape cod? I've been dealing with chronic back pain for 20 years tried every thing from cortisone shots to physical therpy... ## Hi Sully, I may not have a doctor I can refer you to, but I can provide you with a couple links that may be of service to you in so far as locating pain management doctors within your general area. Input your city or zip code for narrowed results: {link removed because site no longer exists} wellness.com/find/pain%20management%20specialist I'd consider calling up a number of them to see if they are accepting new patients. To get a real vibe for the doctor you may even want to follow up with a visit in person. Also, if you'd like to take a more natural approach I recommend usi...

The pills are from the vet for one of my dogs but the label has worn off completely. Pills are small, flat and are scored on one side only. Theres's a very slight wit wish speckle just visible in them and they have a 'powdery' exterior (not enteric or coated etc). No other marking or imprint. I vaguely remember something about them being a cortisone type thing - maybe prednisone... I think I've had veterinary prednisone under the brand name 'Solone' before which looked like this but honestly can't recall (I do rescue dogs so see a LOT of vets and vet meds). I can't find Solone images which match online either. *cant ask the vet who dispensed as the label is completely obliterated

I'm 64 years old went to Orotho Dr today for arthritic knee he gave me a shot of cortisone in the knee I have a bad right hand also can I still take my 10mg of Oxycodone 3 hrs later ## Hello, Georann! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check such information to be sure. The FDA classifies Cortisone as a steroid and lists its most common side effects as possibly including pain, irritation, infection and skin pigment changes. Oxycodone is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

For acid reflux I was administered with Topzole today. Some 9hours later I started itching under the armpits. A few years ago I had a similar reaction after taking some medication - however I do not recall what I took. It was so severe that I was given cortisone. Does Topzole have this effect on individuals? In the previous instance I came out in little bumps. So far TG no bumps just unpleasant itching. I have taken celestamine to combat the itch. Could it be Topzole? ## Hello, Susie! How are you? There's always a chance that any medication could cause an allergic reaction, so yes, it could be from the Topzole. Although it is very unusual to have it occur only under the arms, normally an allergic reaction from taking something orally would encompass your whole body. Have you consult...

I was born in 1942 and used Mazon from when I was 7 or so until I was in my late teens and the first cortisone ointment became available -- tiny amount for a high price and wonderful performance. When I was using Mazon I was using a huge amount, as I had horrible rash over much of my body for long periods, and sometimes secondary infections. Mazon did seem to reduce the itching and the rash. I've always wondered how much mercury was in it and it its accumulation had something to due with my mental instability then and subsequently. Mad as a hatter, at times, I think. I have no desire to sue anybody or anything like that, but I certainty went overboard in using it when the eczema was bad. (On the other side of the coin, my inability to wear wool, esp. wool socks, kept me out of the Viet

I was just shown an xray of my shoulder joint (the ball) that showed a calcium deposit creating excruciating pain. Tendinitis was also indicated.... inflammation. I was told I needed to see an orthopedic surgeon...cortisone IV, I'm assuming, or surgery. I wanted to know if calcium & magnesium gluconate (Calm) or hydroxycitrate will irritate or further my condition? I'm taking Motrin 800 ml & Aleve. I had a deposit on the other shoulder, years ago that was dissolved by an IV never to return :) . I prefer to go with a holistic-natural remedy/cure but the pain is debilitating....sigh. I don't want to add to or create more distress. I have read that Quercitin, bromelain, turmeric, ginger, and Omega-3's are good for my condition. Are there any contraindications in com...

For those worried about pain management here is a short version of my story, I had 6 major surgeries, worst was 9 inches ( instead of the one I was suppose to have) of spinal surgery due to adult spina bifida. For a year prior to it I could barely walk and was in severe pain.. Was told it was in my head by two neurologist. Received steroid and cortisone injections from pain management that ended in plastic surgery as the injections deteriorated my muscles and tissue! After my surgeries the Pain management Drs put me on 100 mcgs of Fentynal patch every 2days, gave me so much Vicodin, muscle relaxers, phenergan, fiorecet, ect I could have started my own pharmacy! Kept doing it for 6 months.. Ok after that they refused to see me stating since I can't have the injections they needed the...

After the Cortisone shot yesterday to my knee, I had insomnia last knight and lots of sweating. Is this normal or a bad reaction to the medication? ## Hi, Marjorie! Sorry about the insomnia and sweating. Cortisone is a steroid class medication and those can be normal side effects of these drugs and may linger for a few days after having been given the shot. Learn more Cortisone details here. I'm sorry that you weren't warned about them. However, you should discuss it with your doctor to verify this and be sure of what else you can expect. Is there anything else I can help with?

Thank you for the answers. I appreciate it. I am just doing a research and thought I ask over this website in case other people would like to share opinions. Maybe some drugs could be an answer to underweight people if first consulting a doctor. ## There are actually far too many medications to list, that can cause weight gain as a side effect and there is also no way to determine if any given person would experience this as a side effect. Some people experience weight gain from SSRI antidepressants and some don't. In addition, most medications can also cause other side effects and, if they do cause weight gain, then it is generally only temporary and doesn't last, once the medication is discontinued. This, coupled with the possible dangers, explains why most doctors will not re...

do cortisone shots contain any glass? ## Hi josie, Based on my research, cortisone is a steroid hormone. It is one of the main hormones released by the adrenal gland in response to stress. In chemical structure, it is a corticosteroid closely related to corticosterone. It is used to treat a variety of ailments and can be administered intravenously, orally, intraarticularly (into a joint), or transcutaneously. Cortisone suppresses the immune system, thus reducing inflammation and attendant pain and swelling at the site of the injury. To answer your question, I haven't heard/read anything about cortisone shots containing glass. The specific inactive ingredients can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so if you're planning on getting one just post back and let me know of the ma...

had a cortisone shot and it caused a seizure, now they want me to have a cockscomb shot in my knee and I am reluctant to do it. ## Hi Andrea, I can certainly see why anyone would be reluctant to follow through with these shots after an experience like that. Based on others' experiences I've read, I can say that it doesn't always work the same for each individual, as many have had great results with cockscomb shots without the side effects. Are there any more natural approaches you've considered trying instead of these shots?

I have just been diagnosed with two bulging disks in My neck and my doctor has set me up to have 3 epidural shots, I'm kind of nervous because for one, I'm scared of needles, and years ago I had an allergic reaction to a cortisone shot in my knee, however I agreed to give the shots a try because the pain I'm experiencing is unbearable. Has anyone had these shots, did they work, and what should I expect? Thanks for any info in advance! ## Do you know the specific details on these shots? Are they definitely more cortisone? Because if you had an allergic reaction to it once, then trying it again isn't a very good idea, because the risk of your having another one is increased.
